Nice to see you both discuss this again. Allow me to critique your discussion.
    1. Our respected historian has mentioned the literary body - Assam Satya Sabha and their proposition that ran during the independence period, that "Anyone and everyone whose mother tongue was Assamese, would be Assamese". I would like to point out that you've failed to see the political aspect of this historical period in the context of present-day constitutional provisions of equal representation based on the historical background of a geographical region. Meaning, If you take a look at pre-1945 Assam, the nationalists considered themselves as a separate nation but today we are under India. So equal representation of ethnicity in a separate nation of Assam would be different from that of present-day India, i.e., Assamese meant anybody living in Assam before independence but after independence, it only refers to the ethnic people of Assam. Please refer to the context of the constitutional provision for this since it is also a political discourse.
    2. Very vague explanation of Assamese script and language. Assamese as a spoken language did originate from Bengali and Odiya since Assamese formerly known as Kamrupi, was spoken in the Kamarupa Kingdom and not in the Ahom Kingdom. It was later popularised due to the spread of Vaishnavism by Shankar Dev and the conversion of the population under the Ahom kingdom after the Moamoria rebellion which marked the downfall of the Ahoms. Kamrupi was termed Assamese during the colonial period after 1905 when Colonial Assam separated from Bengal and the language was used as the administrative language of the region. In the Kamarupa Kingdom, they were aware that the Kamarupi language was a dialect to converse with the people that came from across the river Ganga, like the priests and traders. Please refer to the History of Assam by Edward Gates and the Asiatic Society of Bengal.
On the other hand, the origins of Assamese script are different. He rightly says that different periods had different scriptures. The Umachal rock inscriptions were said to be in Gupta scripture. Later, Shankar Dev wrote his Bhorjabali in a different script. It is clear that the script in Assam developed over time but it just so happens that it is no different from present-day Bengali. Now the question is "Why"? Why is it so similar to Bengali script? He doesn't give us an answer for that he only says that it is different. Even the Assamese language is similar to Bengali, so why?
Another thing one can note is that the ethnic tribes such as Bodos/Mech, Koch, Ahoms, Rabhas, Garos etc all have their languages. Axomia/Assamese is the only one that is the odd one in the region however prominent it may be. Like English. The question arises, how can a script belong to a particular language if the language didn't exist during the time?
    3. Claiming that every aspect of history is Assamese but is also aware that he cannot prove it. So why are we having this discussion then?
The entire point of proving something as distinct and unique of origin is with empirical evidence. And without proof, without facts, without archaeological evidence, how can you keep claiming? He even claims that Huen Sang in his documentary distinguished the language spoken in the ancient Kamarupa to be different from the rest of South Asia. The only thing different in Assam from the rest of India is the tribes' unique culture and history which he uses to substantiate his claims of Assamese culture. That is something every one of us is doing except it does not apply to someone not from the region. So how does he propose that someone who has arrived in the region also belongs to the unique culture and heritage of the region? He should be elaborating on that to define someone as Assamese. Instead, he antagonises the tribes as if they hate their land, culture and history. This man needs to understand that the Assamese language is not a native language of any of the native tribes' languages or scripts in the region. It is a borrowed script and language. It was only the Vaishnava religious section of the Society in Assam and Medival Kamrup spoke this Prakrit language from Magadh.
Also, compare the Assamese language spoken in the different periods to the present day. You realise that the present-day version is similar to Bengali and the older ones are references to the ethnic languages and not "Kamrupi" that we know today as Assamese.
    4. It seems that this person is riding on the history of the region and defining it all as Assamese without categorising them as historians usually do. He has given us the "out of Assam" theory, the Aryan theory, the Himalayan range & the central Asian migration theory, and the cultural assimilation theory. All of which were entirely hypothetical with no empirical evidence. His closing argument was the same as that of the politically motivated Assam Satya Sabha during the Nationalist movement days which propagates a national identity rather than a regional identity.
It seems since the last time this man was on the show, he has been well advised on which direction he should take the narrative of who is Assamese. He refrains from making clear the guidelines under which the present-day state of Assam was created and the nature of why no-where in the Indian Union are people of different regions given a bypass to change their regional and historical origin to their "whims and fancy" when they move to another region. The matter of individual liberties is segregated from cultural and ethnic importance which this historian fails to understand as do the present-day followers of the Assamese nationalist party who are generally migrants. It is this sort of insecurity that needs to be done away with and embrace others despite our differences, which Assam seems to have done for over a millennia. It is a shame that such people take positive tolerance and compassion for granted and encourage the enforcement of a language and culture not native to the ethnic people of Assam. One can say that this is disguised bigotry and hypocrisy because under no circumstance can any state be so ignorant as to disregard its ethnic origins and become racially and ethnically integrated that it loses its ethnic origins. Also, it is not administratively and financially possible for a state like Assam to cater to a rising proportion of people claiming to be Assamese from other states. We must promote tolerance despite our differences in culture, race or region. But, radical integration is the exact opposite of tolerant and respectful.
Well anyway, Congratulations on another wonderful episode of Krishnakshi vlogs. Informative regardless of some minor shortcomings. No worries people can always read the books themselves if they have doubts. You've certainly piqued people's interests and that's what matters.

Many scholars and educated people of the region might not understand the feelings of those districts when the language spoken around these areas are not accepted by other parts of Assam. @@sudarshandutta3205 You are totally wrong. That kayastha thing is a gotra like feature used original in up, haryana, Punjab Rajasthan belt. They were like Brahmin people with ethnically similarly. Also, these type of identity like kayastha is quite complex to study as many people claim them.
Also, that kayastha thing is quite commonly used in bengali community where they claim to be something illogicaly.
And that Kayastha reference in relation to kalita was for kalita who do administration work. Many bengali claim kalita to be part of their people meaning same kayastha people, which is wrong.
Yes, kalita people were non-mongoloid people. But ,they were like a community or tribe. They came to Assam before 10th to 8th century.(It is also seems that Bhaskar braman belong to kalita or he may be was a kachari king). But,kalita were living together with various kachari tribes during kamrupa times. They functioned as working for adminstration works, soldiers etc.Later they also rulled kamrupa that is for sure. They after kamrupa collapsed, they became baro- bhuyans which again served as soldiers mostly.
That is the history of kalita tribe. Shankar Dev was a kalita.Prithu was maybe a kalita, but his baro bhuyans minister were definitely kalitas.
      Thats it

In Ahom language there are a group of words 'bi - hu - Jon' which means ঘুৰি ঘুৰি গা ভাঙি কৰা নচা নাচ'। The word বিহু was derived from this group of word.

You made Bodo, Rabha, Mising feel bad about their language by calling this state Assam and imposing Assamese language. So they changed their mother language to get jobs. Stop saying they are Assamese.
