I thought is so so when it came out (i was a teen). 15 years later i listen to it after having been through some shit as an adult and I freaking think its a masterpiece. Its a very mature and personable album. Love it.
I actually have a huge respect and love for this album. I appreciate it a lot. I don’t relate to it in the sense where it helped me cope with hard times because I was so young when I was introduced to it, but I’ve recognized that this was an album that helped Metallica get through those times. For anyone who’s creative I feel it’s necessary to go out the box and experiment out of what is normally made and I feel like Metallica definitely executed it perfectly. An album to express certain emotions that aren’t perfect or the most positive, they reflected that in the best way with this album in my opinion. And I don’t care if I get the hate, but I love the snare in the album I think it compliments essence of the album. A couple of the notes in between were fucking with me too
What I love about this album (above other albums like Load and ReLoad) is the aggressive vibes that gives despite having questionable decisions like the overall drums, the bass intro in Shoot Me Again and Purify's existence. Each time I listen to the bangers this album has it's somehow cathartic. A better production could saved it.
St anger is a perfectly good album in my mind, other than the infamous snare. I just can’t stand it while listening to it, it overwhelms the rest of the mix. I don’t even think the tinny sound is bad, it actually kind of fit well, but it’s so pronounced that it just ruins the album.
It has a very distinct sound that you can say oh it's st. anger album from a miles away. Also it does a good job of reflecting the anger inside to the fans.
I will say I was not too thrilled with the album when released but as someone else commented, it was when I saw them live and do songs from St Anger that changed my mind. This band is an experience live for sure 🤘

Way better then load and reload. The songs on it were fantastic. Had it had a different sound quality people would've liked it alot more. People just couldn't get over the demo sound. I loved it. That raw quality of a band forming and that what it was
It’s one of my favorite albums tbh. The song “invisible kid” is amazing.
I thought is so so when it came out (i was a teen). 15 years later i listen to it after having been through some shit as an adult and I freaking think its a masterpiece. Its a very mature and personable album. Love it.
Simple fix. Get someone to digitally replace every snare drum hit. With a normal snare, add some solos here and there and voiá
Best album ever for me 🌟
I actually have a huge respect and love for this album.
Lyrics/drums sound killed it
If there's more to this I'm sure everyone would like to hear it.
👍👍
St anger is a perfectly good album in my mind, other than the infamous snare. I just can’t stand it while listening to it, it overwhelms the rest of the mix. I don’t even think the tinny sound is bad, it actually kind of fit well, but it’s so pronounced that it just ruins the album.
your sound is great man
it was the first metallica record I got my hands on when I was a kid and I still enjoy some of the songs! st. anger is GREAT song!!
Remember buying this album, it came with a dvd where the band jammed the whole album live. Kinda liked it ngl
My god, these bangs HARD. I'm going to listen it whole once again.
Sweet Amber's main riff will always be my favorite riff from St. Anger
Underated af. The snare is epic.
With different drums, this riffs are actually crushing
The black album was all I was familiar with as a kid, but i remember hearing this album and really enjoying it.
I don't care of people hate it, its one of my favorites in their discography.
St Anger has always been favorable in my opinion, Frantic alone makes it good.
the invisible kid riff makes me want to break things :)
I feel like the bridge riff from Sweet Amber doesn't get enough love.
My favorite Metallica album) I really like the drums and distortion in this album.
Man, you are missing that all within my hands breakdown, when he screams "hate meeee nowwww!” that's the best moment of the album in my opinion
YES YES IT IS!! finally somebody else who agrees
I highly suggest checking out any recent (2019 and newer) live versions of the St. Anger songs. The band revised the songs and they are much better than the OG versions.
