Nah, if my team comp is bad at teamfighting, then our only chance of winning is literally side pressure. Why would I ever play on my team comps weaknesses? Why would I ever choose to play in a disadvantage? It doesn't matter if they get engaged and gapped in mid, that's expected, point is that as long as the enemy is gapping my team in mid then we can trade something for it on the other side of the map.
Only reason to group up is if you are ahead, you can siege, you plan to end and a 5v5 win is a given.

I don't think my team had bad teamfighting in that particular game. Diana, Braum, Shaco and Ashe can get a lot done together. I can see where you are coming from though and I agree that continuing pushing top lane would have been a valid and a consistent option too. However, given the team comps in this game I felt like grouping could get something done too. Diana was decently strong despite having died many times and was in a good flank position so teamfighting in an effort to turn the tide felt like a good plan in that position.
The point of the video was to show that each game requires a different gameplan. What champions does my team and the enemy have? What is our win condition? Playing in order not to lose can sometimes be playing to win etc. Being able to adapt into different situations and thinking about possible scenarios what might happen like in the video is something that can help you climb. While staying top and pushing would have been completely valid too, grouping was in my opinion the better outcome because not only did we kill the enemy team, we also secured baron.
Of course my team could just have died like you said and in that scenario staying top would have been the superior option, so you are right in that regard. Knowing when to split and group comes with experience and in this situation my trundle instincts were telling me to group. We also ended up winning that particular game through teamfighting. It's true that Trundle is a splitpush orientated champion, but it doesn't mean that giving teamfighting a chance would always not be worthawhile. Giving peel can be very valuable and allow your team to make plays like shutting down the Kassadin together. They wouldn't be able to do those plays if you weren't there for them.
You also have to take into account the fact that both Aatrox and Kassadin had TP. Even if I continued pushing, either of them would just have TP'd to tower and prevented me from getting the tower. There was not much value to be gained by splitpushing in that particular situation IMO.
Thank you for the constructive criticism and feedback!

ehm hell no lol. If a fed kass is flanking my team on mid, there's 0 chance I ever group up on that fight, it's 100% over for us. You are NEVER supposed to fight 5v5 when u're behind.
The smart choice there would be actually to split get top pressure and KEEP the kass on YOU, so that you can keep their fed carry out of the fight that will happen in mid, so that your team has a better chance to win, or just take the free farm and towers.
You should never play fair when behind or even, always play with numbers advantage, just because this play worked out doesn't mean sh*t.

@witcherpie the kassadin was so fed he would just have killed me in a 1v1. That was my reasoning for grouping instead because I didn’t want to risk dying and not being there for objectives. Had I continued pushing, he would simply just have killed me and they would have killed the rest of my team and gone for baron.
The point I was trying to make was to be adaptible, scavanging for plays and being opportunistic like this can win you more games. Keep in mind that it was the enemy team that engaged here in the first place, I just rotated in hopes to minimize the losses.
I understand your perspective too. However, in my mind this was the better play because the game would surely have been over if I continued pushing and kassadin killed me. In this elo, there is no way that kassadin would not have looked at the map and not killed me had I continued going top. It would have been suicide. That's why it felt I would have gotten more done by grouping. This is what I meant in the video by being able to recognize situations where the reward is greater. In this scenario I felt that grouping would yield a greater reward and had less risk than splitting, so that's why I opted to rotate.
