Thank you bro. My clutch shifter broke so now the little black piece is in my pocket. Just ordered a new one and wasn’t sure how I’d do it. This gave me a W 🙌🏽
Thank you. This video was helpful. When I got my 2009 Yamaha R6S, I was a little frustrated by the lack of repair videos for it. Although some details were different, your video was good about giving general ideas that helped me with my bike. Thanks again. As a hint, the loooooong bar on my bike has flat parts that I can secure a wrench onto to remove the shifter more easily. It's designed so that rotating the bar will either tighten the screws on both sides, or loosen the screws on both sides. (I think the technical term is that the shifter has a left-handed thread.)
You are...a cinema...I could watch you forever...Oh wait...sorry, chipmunk mode had me thinking about that song (Yes, I do understand the order), nice vid...it's probably relatively similar for most bikes I would think though.
Awesome! C3D. Just replaced it on my 2009. Thanks a lot for your great work. I will be doing my rear brake pedal next. Any pointers will be appreciated. :)
Appreciate the demo but that speed towards the end was very annoying. So thanks for showing me what I need to do to take it off. I couldn't tell you how this video ended. But thanks
Just dropped my bike today, was tired and tried to move it from the wrong side. Big mistake! This vid is perfect, already ordered my replacement OEM K4 lever 👍
Just changed mine after a fall...I was mad worried at first but this is the easiest thing to do. Just something I'd like to add...mine had loctite on the main screw. So I bought some at Home Depot and applied it before putting it back in.
When I took the doodad off, the thingie came off with it. Taking the thingie off the doodad was a pain. I kept twisting the bar whatchamacallit, but the doodad kept hitting the other thing. But I got it fixed. Thank you!
I have a 2012 750 and I have ridden an 04 r6. obviously the technology has changed in recent years but none the less the jump from a 600cc engine to a 750 is very noticeable. Personal assumption would be that the new 750 to the new R6 the 750 would be better because its the frame of a 600cc but with the extra 150cc worth of power. And personally I dont like the feel of an R6... too aggressive of a forward lean and stiff seat, I love my 750... I shopped and there was a reason for buying the 750
Hi thanks for posting your video. I was looking for some information regarding the gear shift lever on the motorcycle. Is there any way to make the gear shift lever higher or lower with regards to the footpeg? The bike in question is a 2009 Yamaha FZ1. Thank you very much sir.
So my shifter lever also bent, and when I was trying to bend it back, I also bent the shifter rod that is connected to the bottom. I'm wondering if I can bend it back (I mean a matter of if I should bend it back) or buy a new rod. It's not super bent. I find it hard to pay $20 shipping for a $5 OEM part.
does anyone know what the metal shaft that was connecting the gears shifter to the bike when he had unscrewed it is called i need a new one but dont know what to search for ?
I've got an 03 sv650 ordered a lever from amazon that specified fitment on my bike, issue is that the oem one has a thin bushing that allows it to rotate freely once the assembly is tightened. The new lever fits but locks up once you tighten the assembly. any help on this issue would be deeply appreciated.
redneck shifter peg, just use duck tape =P, Had to replace mine and bought one that folds in, cost me $40 but It looks way better then the stock looking one and won't break easy
Wow on my sv it wasnt this model, but thx by the way you make me fill it would be easy. On my version it was a neclace bolt and doesnt have to remove anything to change it
+Mat I'd clean everything with brake cleaner first (especially in the thread on both and socket, where the loctite will be applied), let it dry fully so no chemical from the brake cleaner can react with the loctite, then apply grease in the bearing of the shifter bolt while being careful not to grease in the threads of the bolt. Then put loctite only on the threads, just before assembling the bolt in its socket (amount recommended by the type you buy, not more). Tighten that bolt not long after you install everything back. Let it dry for 24h so loctite gets hard.
I changed the tie-rod assembly and readjusted the height of my shifter lever on a 2014 Kawa Ninja 300 and have the same problem as Dav1es92 below who stated: "Hi, I changed just the selector arm itself but for some reason if I try to select a gear with the engine on my bike cuts out , anybody have any ideas what this problem could be , anything I could of missed that's causing this fault , is there another part I need to change, my bike is on 03 reg" I followed several excellent videos on this subject and can see no errors. Bike remained in neutral before and after the changes. I could shift if from neutral down to first and back up to neutral with the same travel and clicking as before so that I was confident I was in first and neutral. However, after starting in neutral, when I shifted into first, engine cuts out. I would be grateful for a solution.
When I posted my oil change video, I mostly relied on editing. I tried the one-hand method when I could. When I couldn't, I just said, "What I edited out was...". I think users get the idea. I was concerned that a tripod would be too far away to be effective. I used a GoPro, and it doesn't zoom.
Oof. Very helpful video… but that “chipmunk” voice for half the video made things SUPER hard to understand. If I find a similar video on RUclips I’ll post it here so others don’t have to endure the “chipmunk” voice.

Just replaced my gear shifter on my SV1000 using your vid

Thanks for this dude. Had to do the same mod to my gixxer750. Nice to see how quick'n easy it is.
I like how you did most of that with just one hand! Cool video.
Awesome! C3D. Just replaced it on my 2009. Thanks a lot for your great work.
I will be doing my rear brake pedal next. Any pointers will be appreciated. :)
Great work with one hand recording. It was very useful. Thanks
Thanks for the post! I need to make this repair on my gsxr after laying it down one night. Ride safe!

I love the " Whatever you call it" parts makes me crack up. I do the same thing.
When I took the doodad off, the thingie came off with it. Taking the thingie off the doodad was a pain. I kept twisting the bar whatchamacallit, but the doodad kept hitting the other thing. But I got it fixed. Thank you!
Thanks for the video. Handy to see someone else go first.
Followed your vid to for my 2002 SV650s worked great thanks.

@smobag I just ordered it from some dude on ebay so I cant really tell you much about it. As far as I know it was just a generic peg that fit the SV

@mystarsdied im pretty sure it was counterclockwise as well.
haha chipmunk mode was funny and love your vids
From what year is your SV650
what bike u tink is better yamaha r6 or gixxy 750?
I was just about to call around in see how much it would cost to have this done, thanks to you ima save myself some money in do it myself
I could have cheaped out and forked over $70 at a shop. Most others near here charge a minimum $120. I think my shop was $60 in 2015.
Awesome post! You saved me from putting on the duck tape! hahaha. good looks. btw, you must love yellow.
whohoo 2005! same year i have... From experience the shifter peg is easier then the rear break pedal lol
Just to make sure, you mean 8 millimeter allen wrench right?
What size is your shifter rod I’m trying to replace the one I lost but keep buying the wrong size.
Hahahaha, dude- I just went back and watched this one for kicks. Good stuff
I bought the same freaking one lol for 20+ thanks for the vid
does anyone know what the metal shaft that was connecting the gears shifter to the bike when he had unscrewed it is called i need a new one but dont know what to search for ?
Did you ever found out? I need the same
Very helpful. Thanks for the vid!
Good video
THANKS man super helpful

@reillypadraig I use Adobe Premiere CS 5
How do u take off a gear shifter on a road star1600?

Good to know! Just chipped mine and have the new one on the way from amazon. Wonder if I’ll encounter the same scenario.
I have the same issue, once lever changed and tightened it just locks and gearshift is impossible any ideas on how to tackle this issue?
thx , very good , help me a lot
redneck shifter peg, just use duck tape =P, Had to replace mine and bought one that folds in, cost me $40 but It looks way better then the stock looking one and won't break easy
How did you crash your bike exactly? The damages on yours look identical to my own bike its crazy.
When I was watching this and chipmunk mode started... I was half expecting to hear "sorry dave!" :D
on the 07 sv650s you just need to remove a circlip from the clutch lever, but you need circlip pliers or something similar.
How do you loosen the foot shifter if it's too hard
thank you for the word "circlip" Even though I don't know it in my native language(Turkish) I can show it now. thanks a lot.
I don't even know what it is in my native language (English).
Thanx alot alvin..!!!
The whole piece is called a rearset I believe
Wow on my sv it wasnt this model, but thx by the way you make me fill it would be easy. On my version it was a neclace bolt and doesnt have to remove anything to change it
I just want to say tanks
🙏
did you ever find out what that piece is called??
for reals?! i need a new one, that guard thing.
Rearsets is what they're called (one on each side of the bike).
You should put lock-tite on these bolts.
Let it dry for 24h so loctite gets hard.
LH controls I believe
Awesome!.. thanks for the tip on taking the top bolt off first because a dumbass like me would take 10 minutes to figure it out. Peace!
@DJJJINSTL Thanks man, glad I could help

Did you ever solve this problem Mark Herzberg ?? I'm in the same spot!
hahaha awesome :P
Chipmunk voice rox :D
Awesome man.. HAHAH!
5:25 - wtf, magic?
Thanks dude. But buy a tripod or something to be able to use two hands
When I posted my oil change video, I mostly relied on editing. I tried the one-hand method when I could. When I couldn't, I just said, "What I edited out was...". I think users get the idea. I was concerned that a tripod would be too far away to be effective. I used a GoPro, and it doesn't zoom.
i tried this but the fucking bolts are so tight i cant move them
