the basher guard mounts to cranks meant for a 3x drivetrain. it mounts to the outside of the spider where the biggest chainring would go. it would work great on ixf cranks. great video, bros.
19:26 The bash ring always goes on top of the spider. If you use it like that the chain will get worn fast, and the guard will be damaged too. But to do this you need to have logn enough bolts. The spider looks flat there, so possible to mount it there, as logn as the bolts are long enough.
Its dejavo again, Jg bike man your having a laugh thats what we got have to match it with snail bolts to be a contender much love and positve energy vibes from the uk wider than the spider
Great stuff guys, glad to see the crank find a home. Just saw JGBike has another crank in their lineup, slightly more expensive, looks more premium but still a good deal. Love the content
I didn’t read all the comments but the basher guard goes on the big ring spot and will only work with a thru bolted middle chain ring. So in this case you need the outside of the crank machined for the chain ring like the IXF.
You had a much easier time getting your crankset and bottom bracket off the X1 than I did. I totally forgot about the nut and threaded in the crank puller only to very badly strip the threads out so much that I had to use a tire rod separator to get them off. Then I had to use a powerful impact gun to get the bottom bracket off because I nearly stripped the BB tool like you guys use and the impact gun I did have wasn't strong enough to break them. Successfully installed an IXF crankset without an issue.
10:36 The chain line will also be better depending on the offset the spider has, some cranks have crazy offset, like triple chainring cranks, offset can vary, and if you install the chainring without spacers or it does not have the nipples as you call it, spacing it out it will be horrible.
I like the fox jersey 😊 🦊 No alcohol too much sugar for your body fat you need to hit the gym Love the introduction of the video your dad did an amazing job❤

Awesome job as always! Love me some build videos. I found your channel not long after we got into MTB around Sept 2020. I still regularly take my bikes apart, clean them, lube them, etc. You guys have made a difference to a lot of us out there for sure. Thanks dudes!
Man Greg, that's the sweetest comment ever. Thank you for being here and being a Patron. It means alot that someone like you helps support what we are doing.
Just picked up the Axum from walmart. On sale for $228 by the way. This is probably the first thing that I'll be doing to it since that stock BB feels pretty bad. Great video as usual. Thanks guys!
Really nice concise guide, very professional 😂 it's a shame about the basher guard, it looked really cool. Nice to see an alternative to the good ixf too Take care guys 🍻😎👍
You are right, it's always nice to see what looks to be good alternatives. 👍 wish the basher would of worked, but could not mount on the opposite side 😕 see you on the next Dan! CHEERS
For the spacers, just measure the width of the bottom bracket shell. A 68mm shell uses 1 spacer on the drive side and 2 on the non drive side. A 73mm bottom bracket uses 1 spacer on each side.

That IXF crankset one was the first one that got me on your channel. Ended up buying one a couple of years ago to put on a rebuild of my old 1999 Stumpjumper and it's been great since then. The Stumpy is my winter bike so that IXF bb and crankset have lasted great through two or three Ontario winters. Great vids. For the bashguard, you can try to put it on the outside of the spider where a large chainring would fit in a 3x setup. The IXF crank supports a 3x so maybe the JG ones does as well.

It’s all about chain line…. The theoretical chain line is the distance from the middle bike to the chain when in the middle of the cassette…. So middle of rear hub to middle of cassette should equal centre of frame to centre of chainring teeth. For boost =51-53mm non boost = 48-50mm so the spacers allow you to play with the front chainring position to get within the range . Different cranksets and setups will need different spacer positions it’s not really hard and fast so many spacers here or there… it’s what works a 12 speed cassette is not the same width as an 8 speed even if it does fit onto the same freehub body.
I will be converting my bike to a 1X and possibly just go single speed. Did you notice a quality difference between the JGbike and the IXF? Any one you would recommend over the other?
We actually talked about having one this episode, but we ran out of time and we wanted to have a dedicated crank replacement. The Basher Guard wasn't even supposed to be on this episode, but The Tick kept forgetting. The Dirt Jumper is awaiting parts👍Thanks man
Haha that's right. We drive a Chevy and couldn't care less if back in the early 19 hundreds they ripped off Ford's ideas and manufacturing processes. 🤣 It's capitalism at It's core. If they can't patent an idea or a particular design, then people are going to swoop in and make their money while they can. We get ripped off by channels both bigger and smaller everyday, and we just keep coming up with more of our own stuff.🤷♂️ It is, what it is.
Haha well then it would look like we were trying to pass them off as real😉🤣 Not sure if you saw the episode, but they were a gift. We like upsetting the elitist, it's sooo satisfying 😌😜
Feels good donset it cant explain it to people you have to feel it " tomb raider anniversay" so funny long running joke ive got with my scottish pal i say boi god dam son of a gun fog horn leg horn & yo semety sam god bless america
Bad comparison but everyone is cheating off the guy sitting next to them now days. Makes no difference to me but people get really upset about the whole Fooker pedal thing.
@@Iosis6 I thought it was a dated but great comparison personally. Think about it. Ford didn't invent the automobile, but they invented the way they were designed and manufactured on an assembly line. Ford basically created the automobile industry then Chevy and Dodge came along and ripped off the way they did things trying to steal some of the automobile industry pie. I feel this is a very similar to what Fooker, RockBros ect. did. RaceFace didn't invent the pedal, but created such a popular design that others are going to want a piece of the pie. Hopefully that makes it make more sense.😁
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS well I 100% agree on the assembly line. Ford was the first and everyone had to follow suit or be left in the dust. The fooker design is just such a blatant copy you would think they were made in the same factory. I do however own a set on my cheap XC bike. Really just can't beat them.

it's the same as most Shimano and those has issues also. I recall someone making some out of metal but not sure where

🤣🤣Man you know nothing beats a great crunchy juicy PICKLE 🥒
4:09 Yet you guys drive a damn Silverado lol. I do get the analogy but I cant stand the irony
Hey bro if you ever start cramping them pickle juice viles will save your life. js
That's why we had it, that is until it started leaking in my truck🤬🤣👍
With the fake Fox shirts. You can ask the supplier not to put the http on them so they look more legit 👍🏼
Haha well then it would look like we were trying to pass them off as real😉🤣

What did wolfman mean Dodge is a knockoff of Ford but he got that backwards Mopar baby Mopar
Hey, hey, I drive a Chevy🤣👍
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS well I 100% agree on the assembly line. Ford was the first and everyone had to follow suit or be left in the dust. The fooker design is just such a blatant copy you would think they were made in the same factory. I do however own a set on my cheap XC bike. Really just can't beat them.
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS I'm just glad y'all can take the joke you guys pretty cool man and the family channel
