I always wondered about this. Thanks for taking the time to do the test and share the results with the rest of us.

I have used all 3 tapes, and regular masking tape, and Frog tape is the only one I use now. As your test shows, the Frog tape does give you a better line. Thanks for confirming that.

As a professional painter, we use frog tape and we brush it with water to activate the paintblock technology instead of relying on the moisture in the paint to do it

Thank you for answering this question. Most say it doesn't make much difference but if I want a sharp line clearly frog tape is the way to go.

Frog tape works by making the tape swell on one edge which makes a tighter seal. Particularly over textured walls where paint bleed is a bigger problem. The neat edge you got isn't from your rolling. Its from the swelling edge its meant primarily for one straight line like at the edge of a accent wall not masking off a checker board etc. One edge of the frog tape DOES NOT swell. Also testing on an orange peel or knock down textured surface would have revealed much larger discrepancies in performance in my experience. Thanks though. Nice to what it does on smooth walls. We have very few of those out on the west coast of the USA though.

Hi- thanks for the video. I am painting on fabric to wear and looking for either a masking tape or a painters tape to keep my edges crisp and prevent bleeding. I'm still trying to figure out the difference between masking tape and painters tape. If you have any words of wisdom, those will be grately appreciated :) thanks a ton for the video!

I wish I watched this before I laid all my sharp line tape on my checkerboard floor. Oh, well.
