About 6 year's ago I extended a flat roof porch for a friend's mum... toothed the face of the existing brick...dug footings and extended it by a few foot. Bricked around new door and window frame measurement's. I then put a small pitched roof on to stop the damp. Got on my bike and rode home thinking wtf am I doing 🤣🤷‍♂️ Love the vids' Stu and boss work pal!

Agreed. Key point that when re-pointing homes.
Stops the mortar having the ability to just fall out in big lumps after it has set.
Seen it happen on a family members home, council repointed bad brickwork and big lumps fell out 2 or 3 weeks later lol.

Not sure how popular they are in the UK. But in Canada we often use pointing bags (basically like a bakers icing bag) really speeds up the process and helps keep the bricks cleaner. A full day of it though and your forearms and wrist are gonna hate you

It always makes me sad when I see people with leaks into their homes.
Theres far too much knowledge amount the construction industry that leaks should be non existent but there always that 5% weak link in a process where someone says "arrr that'll be arightt" then boom damage done in a year or two.

I have worked in sales for 35 years and can say 100% that the easiest way to hit sales targets is to look after each and every customer as if your job depends on there custom, which it does.
