I like that you showed tucking in the toothing upper bed before you cover it up. No one shows it but its so crucial to do that before you lay that course.
Nice to see somebody taking the time to do a proper job. In the town were I live it would be done with blocks then pebbledashed every house has some form of external render looks awful your way is much nicer I love to see the old brick work 👍👌✊👏
Love watching you're videos, find them very therapeutic for some reason! I'm 23 and work for myself as a joiner , both my grandads where very good brickies and iv been showing them some of you're work!
Lovely workmanship as usual stu! Was happy to see you wet them bricks down, I would love to point you in the direction of Peter ward - he has a lot of useful information on these old stock houses
Hey Stu. Mate you gotta get yourself an Arbortech! Makes life so much easier with toothing 👍🏽 Also the clamp you're using for you line is really for steel frame doors, we usually use dutch pins and pack our profiles out off the wall so the line can slide up, and use regular corner blocks so the line can wrap right around the profile.. Top job as always mate👍🏽
Dug about 2 ton of spoil which was compacted solid and loaded and unloaded 50 bricks by hand today. My lazy backside is aching now. Cracking job here though boys.
You know the pros are at work when it looks so easy to do. I was given a pile of tools and I could not tell what an entire tool box was even for. Someone finally told me that they were brick laying tools. Where I grew up, there must only be a small handful of brick buildings. Shipping brick to Alaska must be expensive.
Nice Work, Nice clamps - where can we buy (in London) Nice FULL JOINTS all over the gaff none of that "oh it will be alright" business. If theres one thing I take away from you showing us your skilled work it is full joints of muck no exceptions. Top man. Great choice of the music for your intro, shazammed and added to the playlist. Keep the train rolling and the content universal to the world UK isnt the only country that builds home with brick :) Thumbs up Stu.
Hi could I ask why did you leave the door in place whilst you bricked up would it not have been easier to remove the door first,or am I missing something????
9.27, Have got to say ive never seen a radiator put on its side haha! great channel mate. im a plumber myself but love watching your work! From Ash in Eastbourne East sussex
Nice job, I've got a property where previous owner bricked up a door without stitching the courses of bricks like you have, just used half bricks. Should I be thinking about having it re-done?
@@Stucrompton1 living the dream Stu , fixing cars every day during the week , weekends doing lots of housework, ie , conservatory plastic off , build up , now kitchen diner, knock through into old kitchen , two 3.75 m 23 kg p metre beams , put in with Bolton man power , knock all internal kitchen walls back to 1934 brick , batten and reboard , new bathroom , knock off tiles n plaster again to brick and floor boards when we've nowt to do in-between going to swimming pools for 12 hours plus a week with our son , crazy , but not 1 skip used , many trips to tip
Alright mate been watching some of your vidoes i am a digger driver by trade and your work is bang on! Ive just strated a 20x8 summer house shed in brick keep the tips coming pal👌
When I started watching this video, I noticed that you didn't take off the back door or frame at the start and wondered if you were bricking up the back door as a practical joke on the house owner. When I were a lad, we just used to cover up people's front doors with newspaper or cardboard LOL :)
Great work, but in most cases I think it makes more sense to fill a door or window in like a picture frame without saw toothing unless it's absolute to the design appearence and you have a perfect brick match. Most attempts to make changes invisible are hopeless and cost about double. Some simple accents or a pattern makes it look better like a church window.
I have a masonry company in Canada and I just hired my dad. He’s 70 and is the best employee I’ve had. He spent his entire career mining. He has a very different work ethic. He’s unstoppable even at his age. He actually wants to keep going when I’ve had enough. Lol
Lovely Job! Got a question about the 'Strong boy'. As you get to the end of the door seal you remove the 'Strong Boy' with an number of courses which do not appear to have hardened. Should the brick work be fully hardened before you remove the 'Strong Boy'? What's the danger of the above brick work cracking? Thanks
15 yr union mason tender here from SW CT USA... good job, nice work, good craftsmanship with the video production top shelf- the whole thing being oddly satisfying to watch Glad to see water with the demo saw. Today stopped at the light some knuckleheads were doing the sidewalk in brick pavers and their labor was doing the cuts dry wirh the lot of them without masks ... a giant cloud driftin over, dusting the cars and of course filling their lungs. 2 questions though - are not 75mm clean used brick available esp for such a small job? Not just for dimension, which no one will notice, but maybe a better color match And why isnt Dad wearing safety specs when beating the wall with that brick set? Tell him he don't need to plumb the his work just follow the face of the wall like you are doing outside Other than real tight. That 1/2 @ 11:22 is visible to only you and anyone who picks that up with think is a bricky showing off. Nice solution I'd tend for you any day
Great job, massive skills on display, have you added colour to the mortar here to match existing? or is that just the natural colour of your portland/sand mix?
Now I know why my room is it always cold and I've got cigarette smoke coming from outside under the skirting when my neighbours have a quick cigarette... 👏👏👏😂 I need to render the wall and to do some insulation... 🙄 And I can't get rid of the mould.. 😒
Very therapeutic watching a tradesman undertaking his works..... Excellent job
I like that you showed tucking in the toothing upper bed before you cover it up. No one shows it but its so crucial to do that before you lay that course.
I absolutely love bricklaying and it's great to see a real pro laying the dpc on a thin bed of mortar...proper job👍
Nice to see somebody taking the time to do a proper job. In the town were I live it would be done with blocks then pebbledashed every house has some form of external render looks awful your way is much nicer I love to see the old brick work 👍👌✊👏
My dad was a brickie for 40+ years, he'd be well happy with that. Good thought and planning too, it's what makes a job, a good job 👍

Love watching you're videos, find them very therapeutic for some reason! I'm 23 and work for myself as a joiner , both my grandads where very good brickies and iv been showing them some of you're work!

Difficult work made look easy by Stu & KC. Nice job lads!!
Great work, I’m glad I’m not the only one that prefers the quick saw over the crappy grinder.
Nice work. Another quality job. The BT clamps look good to use. Keep up the good work. All the best Pete
The quality and contents of the video are very good.
If there’s a secret to good brickwork, it’s being able to mix a good mortar. I have mortar envy!
This bloke is the business! Get this geezer a pint 🍺
I use an Arbortech for toothing out the brick...hardly any dust...does an awesome job at tuck pointing too!!! I really enjoy your videos!!!
All good until it rips a tooth out and costs when you return it to tool hire shop , been there 😢😭😦
I really enjoy watching your work. Cheers
Thankyou
It looks like that has blended in nice with the other brickwork, very well done stu
Yeah it turned out well 👍
Angus Brown looks amazing like it’s original brick. Wonder why most of these extensions look tacky with totally different brick colours!

It's all brick and nothing but wherever you turn around. Imagine the scene back in the day when all this building was going down...
Love watching your videos. I’m also a brick layer from New York. 🍻🍻🍻

Hey Stu was there a shuttle bus to the kerb from that parked car ?. Lol
Cracking job lads 👌
Brick tint after ,just to take the newness off it,bang on...
Or just leave it and let it weather it self 🤷🏼♂️saves money... just saying as i am becoming a brick specialist 😂
What is your mortar mix ratio? It looked very smooth.
He uses 4:1 👍
Such old bricks, rounded. Did that door have to be removed? It was a beautiful doorway.
Good job guys
Perfect video!!!
That water feed to the saw is well worth it
Definitely
