0:38 I've got an update on this with the MSI GF63. MSI advised me that this can happen if the rear corner screw is not in. After checking my laptop, the screw was in and it appeared to be all the way, however it was about one full 360 degree rotation from being tight. After tightening the screw, this no longer happens. Although it does not pop up during normal circumstances, this still shows there's quite a bit of force on the plastic, so I'm still not too confident in how that will go long term - but it is not as bad as I am showing here normally.

I bought the 1650 GF63 for $543 including tax. I’ve never had the panel popping out problem and after using for about 8 months, the screen can be lifted with one hand. I’ve been using this laptop mainly for school, and the battery life can last me the whole school day on a full charge. It gets the job done in my opinion, and it’s really good for light gaming here and there. To me, this laptop is worth since I preferred a system capable of doing schoolwork while at the same time capable of portable gaming.

I think this laptop is fairly good for this budget, especially for casual gamers and students. We should look at the long-term reviews of the others(which is evident in the comments) before judging it with the experience of a single person (who could be prone to biases due to the availability of devices with much higher specs ). I mean so many others are saying that it has served them well. Also, it is possible that the popping of the chassis is the problem with some individual units because the others are not facing it.
And i5 11400H with RTX graphics in a thin and light laptop is not bad for this price

I got a i5-9300H and 1050Ti GF63 thin for $500 after rebates (this was back in like 2020) and it's just ok, build quality is bad yes but it's perfectly servicable, I upgraded it to dual channel of 16gb of RAM (which made my games run much faster) and upgraded the M.2 SSD (the stock kingston one was only like 500mb/s and would often chug while opening large games or files), i never experienced any de-laminating panels or bad flex issues.
However, the battery is terrible, it lasts like 2 hours even if you're just lightly using it. And there are times where it'll be at 80% and just randomly turn off, so it's best to just leave it plugged in.
Mine also overheats even though I repasted it, the CPU often gets to 90C and the GPU likes to sit at 80C+ and it gets very hot.
I now have a steam deck which still doesn't perform as good as this laptop, but I'll probably end up selling my laptop because I barely use it as I just do all of my work on my desktop at home.

As someone who plays single-player games locked to 30 FPS at 720p (on Medium to High settings) this laptop was perfect for me. It's been a year since I bought it and it hasn't given me too many problems (however, when I tried to upgrade the RAM recently the back panel was certainly hard to get off. Took me a whole morning to do it and I was so scared that I had broken it!) I think its main target should be more casual PC gamers with little money who just want a good-enough experience that is comparable to an Xbox One/PS4, but want the extra portability and customization options that the consoles lack.

The screen is not that great but its not like worst either, I mean I pushed too much on this laptop and dropped from table once but this laptop completes every aspect for casual gamer and if you are college student it will be easy for mobility cause it weights around just 1.86kg you can easily pick up by one hand. But I am quite impressed after 1 year of use, I would suggest people go for another asus tuf or acer nitro like specific for hardcore gaming but if you are strict on your budget then it's not a bad deal, and it's more like gaming notebook than gaming laptop.

Sometimes even against their own friends (I'm referring to the corsair debacle). I still find it amazing how they could publish a piece against someone who has been on their channel and not name them. Not that that was the problem, the problem was doing the piece altogether in such a tone, on a platform they know causes a lot of waves to brands that may not be fully at fault of their employees' opinions.

@@vmafarah9473 Undervolting is a meme, IMO, and not something I'd personally ever waste time on, therefore I don't cover it. I prefer maximum stability at any cost, if I want more performance I'll buy a better laptop. I understand that most people do not fall into this bucket, but there you are. Even if I were to do it, results vary based on silicon lottery, so there's no point at all in me wasting time trying to tune something when other people will get different results. Easier for me to just say it can do it and move on for those who do care. Also 12th gen locks undervolting, so there's that too.

@@JarrodsTech I was more wondering about the ability to tweak the GPU power limit, but granted, that's likely not a setting available even on MSI's advanced BIOS. But that would probably be the only relevant thing to squeeze out of these, especially those extra 5W max of the more efficient 3050 mobile, but also the extra 10W max of the 1650. I agree on the rest, CPU undervolting kinda died on 8th-10th gen, when Intel had to patch it and OEMs started being more restrictive on their embedded controller ICs.

It never failed me once and after the journey still looks as good as the day it existed the box. In Media Market I thought they mistakenly priced it such was the good value. It plays all the modern games really well and is light light light. To be honest I had a Super Gaming laptop though it's power brick alone weighed almost as much as this entire computer. Additionally in my model most of the plastic is now solid metal sheet. Also, I can run this laptop direct from four small solar panels.

I've had this computer for over 7 months now, and it's been treating me very well, I've had no issues with it so far! I'm not able to have a job at the moment, so I had to use survey websites like Swagbucks and stuff for a few months to get money to buy it. I've had no issues with it so far, and I didn't know it was apparently so god-awful to people until I started looking up stuff about it. It might be because I'm personally used to not using the best hardware, but this laptop has been really, really good for the price it's set at. It preforms pretty well all things considered, and it can even run some VR stuff pretty well too! Any factors that I have issues with, like maybe the storage space being rather low, or the microphone and camera not being the best, I can buy parts to replace, or use external devices in place of it. Any other issues like the fan being noticeable, or "the keys not being key-y enough" are somewhat non-issues to me. I'm not the biggest computer person, but it seems pretty alright to me. I don't mind it being "ugly", again, I might just not be used to "good" hardware, but it looks pretty nice to me. All around, if you're in a pretty shotty financial situation, or you don't have much money, and need something pretty good (and something you can buy and replace parts for to make even better!!) then this laptop is a very good deal.

This was a major issue on older Msi laptop that got pretty much fixed on the newer units with a redesign but it seem they are using the old chassis left over chassis for these budget models...
As such I would never recommend this laptop ( and I'm saying this as an MSI fan) If you need cheap that badly wait for some sales or buy used... you will get much better quality

It's been the same for almost 4 years now and not much significant changes unlike Asus TUF and Acer Nitro where design and thermals have been modernised and reworked. Sure it's cheap but with designs like those even some older model Legion and newer model Ideapad is better considerably bit more money. MSI really should start being a bit more enthusiastic with their budget design.

I have this laptop for a month so far and I'm actually pretty satisfied with it. It's a 1650GTX and for my demands, it's enough. As long as it can run esport games, it's great for me. I'm a pretty casual gamer. Seriously, my previous laptop wasn't even able to run CSGO at 30 FPS, so it was a massive shock for me to play R6S with high settings and still get 120. And besides I don't mind playing some singleplayer games on medium or low to get the performance up. (As if I hadn't been used to that with my old machine)
To the build quality - I did try some of these myself and I did see some slight keyboard wobble but I hadn't encountered the hinge issue.
Now is it cheap? Yes. Are there better laptops? Of course. Am I gonna upgrade the memory and ssd? Probably yes. But still it's serving me quite well. If you're not too demanding and just wanna play Siege or Overwatch like I do, then this is a good battlestation.

Man, I think the thing that killed this for me (I had the MSI gf65 thin) when I had this for 2 years
Was the keyboard, battery, overall portability, and that dang trackpad for programming...
Yeah, I didn't have issues and I played a bunch of games with it, especially after I added a 2tb ssd after kinda snapping the top bar in the back, and ESPECIALLY after mine saved me on a game jam after half my apartment's power went out where I had to finish my game on not-my-desktop and had to make a trailer for my game (this was a 48-hour jam)
I did end up switching this with a MacBook air 15
It's just... As much as I have an emotional attachment, I already had a desktop PC to need a not-entirely-portable laptop that I need glued to a charger
I had also moved thus removing the fear of me almost catching on fire and my apartment losing half of it's electricity

It's awful. Had one of those. It's hot like it's a laundry iron, and loud, like it's a vacuum cleaner. Served me 2-3 months, then video memory chip died. And I'm not even a hardcore gamer. I used to sit on linux most of the time.
Replaced with aorus 17 and damn it is comparatively the greatest laptop. Quiet and cold. 53-59 degrees average, 73 tops. Celsius ofc. Compared to 73-78 degrees average MSI had it's a bliss.
And I must say it is relatively the same hardware as well. i7 processor, 3060 vcard. But damn aorus is built far better than msi. And that's just for few extra bucks. It's not like extra expensive or anything.
Also, one more thing about MSI. it supposed to have slots for SATA SDD or HDD, and additional m.2 slot. Not sure why, but mine didn't had those. Why? And you see there is a space for them, the battery is even cut on the side just for the SDD/HDD to fit in, but there were no sata connection. So stupid, Jesus Christ. They even decided to cut the production cost by not including those ports in the product. So yeah, was really disappointed with this laptop, and really happy with aorus.

I currently type this with my GF63 what I can tell you is that the RTX3050 is 35W default (lowest RTX 3000 card spec, you're not getting the 40W), Software overclocks it automatically to 40W in demanding games . so on maxed out it uses 40W on GPU and 25W on CPU maxed. but for a cheap laptop that can run Cyberpunk 2077 in high settings on avg 60FPS? not too shabby. Also its best to use it like what you would use a desktop, yes I know its a frickin laptop but at this price the chassis is is like a biscuit. so yeah I don't bring my GF63 anywhere (tho I got a 1st win on MSI lottery when buying them GF63 and got another laptop MSI Modern 14 for free so I use that one for work)

i have the 10gen(10500h + 1650) version of it the only thing i would say is that the built is not as bad as the 11th gen or the one shown in the video as the keyboard flex is not there and the only flex you might feel in on the right bottom side of the wrist rest part where the battery is present,
secondly there is no flex to the hinge when moving the screen(even aggressively) neither it pops off
and also i can easily open the lid with one hand (i do have an hdd) and this is all after 1 year of buying the laptop but i would say it does lags behind some of the competitors in gaming performance due to the 40W gpu.
