It's a pretty good strategy if you can't get away, and it defends people behind you as well. Never been able to do it offensively like this guy though, absolutely nuts.

Guard point is a punisher and punishing because you miss it your cooked you hit it the satisfaction

This is my new favorite Mika video. I love Guard Points a lot and how cool it is when they stop a monster entirely in it's tracks. All the different GPs you got and the unique follow ups that got the monster laying on the ground were awesome. The upbeat battle theme rock music backing up some exquisite HD Guard Points was a terrific experience.

My absolute favorite weapon and the best one barnone.... yet this is the one aspect of the weapon I just couldn't master. Timing the Guard Point in high tense situations is so difficult so I salute you for this.
It’s probably not much to anyone else but that spark of light + the noise from offensive guard proccing when you successfully guard point is like top 3 most satisfying things in all of video games. It legit lives in my head rent free

Recently started my third character in world to exclusevely use charge blade, aftwr toppling a Diablos with a guard point I fell in love with the weapon, but after seeing this I am now truly _motivated_

I really miss savage axe transformation GP, in Rise when you already commit to SAED/AED the only way to GP sudden incoming attack is to cancel into shield charging and hoping the ending animation timing is right to gain the GP

Charge Blade point guards are the most satisfying thing
Ironwall+guardpoint+red shield can combo together. depending on the monsster dependss on the level of ironwall you want. you can only counter with saed or aed if you recieve medium or small knockback. example being at xeno's ground explosion requires 5 ironwall plus the red shield and guardpoint to get medium knockback and counter with saed or aed
usually 1 level of ironwall is enough but depends on the monster and what attacks you want to get medium knockback on.
with saed you can switch to rampage axe which also has a guardpoint in it
Dude im gonna practice some CB today for sure. Been going through the story of world again to have a waifu character lmao but still your skills with CB make me wanna get better and better. Been trying to practice guard points a ton lately but timing can be so difficult especially when you feel a lot of pressure on you in a hunt
@1:15...i literally have 3k plus hours of MHW and Iceborne on the ps4 (i basically main Charge blade all through the story and endgame of Iceborne)....AND I HAVE NEVER EVER seen/used slinger burst after a Guard point!?! lol good job on the video and hopefully Rise/Sunbreak Guard Points soon?!? hahahaha
Ahah yes, it is a combo that were not very useful but yet so stylish so I had to put it in my video :D Maybe for Sunbreak, we will see ;)
The Sword~Axe transform
Parry is probably the most controllable. This player uses it the most.
They do it at 0:29, 0:32, 0:36, 0:14,
The Weapon Unsheathe parry is done at 2:01. You do this by pressing the unsheathe button right as you about to get hit. This puts your Hunter in a block stance briefly. This is the tightest parry in terms of timing. And the fastest.

Unsheathe parry is actually ok, I did it before I knew what guard points even were. The phial charge parry feels absolutely impossible.
It's insane. I think this is the main reason i learned how to play charge blade.

I'm going to start leaving my Palico behind, it just occurred to me after watching a couple of videos that it gives you a better sense of timing (and risk) if the monster is soley focused on you

Say what people will say about clutch claw. But i really like the combos with the slinger. It flows so smoothly with a lot of weapons.
The only place the clutch claw is better used is as a super-armored grapple for lance, and honestly it is only by a small margin.

How are you guard pointing from when your weapon is away? I don't know that one, is it just press block while sheathed or something?
Thanks ! Yeah if you do the "axe unsheath" (R2 input for PS controller by default) , there are a few frames where the shield is in front of you and will count as a guard point. The timing is much harder than for the other guard points though

I think I've always had Guard 5 for all these clips but I don't remember exactly

It's a Shagaru Magala charge blade mod. It replaces the Safi models with this one

What are two monsters do you practice Guard point against, and what meal combo?

no, Guard point is a different mechanic, you have to time the monster's attack with some specific moveset where your shield is in front of your character

no, there's no mod
You need a slinger for the combo
@@Mikarai that I know, but I tried the slinger counter again and again and never did it allow me to connect a AED or SAED right after the double horizontal swing :/ May I know what keys u pressed to do it ? I checked on training field and no AED nor SAED were proposed in the connecting moves either
@@Mikarai oHH ! I finally found out ! Instead of manually pressing my AED/SAED Key, I had to press circul/right click a third Time ! It's weird but I guess that's because it's recognized as a combo and not a normal attack..

Can someone explain me how to use the move at 1:16. I played a lot with CB but didnt see this move.
So first they got a Guard Point, then L2 for slinger burst which then allows you to go straight to the second swing of the Axe Phial combo / Circle,
then went into Amped Element Discharge / AED with another Circle press and then holding back on the Left Stick + Triangle during the startup animation.
What decos help you do this?

The only guard point move I know is guard first and then hit the normal attack bottom. Is there any other move?

It's a guard point, you do phial damage with it

it's a bit complex and hard to explain in a comment, basically you need to connect the monsters's attack with any animation of your moveset where you shield is in front of your character

My build varies a lot for every hunt especially for the CB, I usually play a lot of element CB (so basically the Kjarr ones) because I love the look of the elemental SAED but for this one I used more the Fatalis CB for impact phials to do some stun damages
Usually it's full Fatalis armor with offensive skills like Agitator, Expert, Attack boost, Capacity Boost and comfy skills like Guard, Guard Up, Evade Window
So to do a raw guard point u just tap guard instead of holding it right? Or am I missing something.
Not really, in some attacks of the CB moveset, you have a few frames when the shield is in front of your character.
A Guard Point is triggered when you time these frames with the attack of the monster

No ,it's not mid-saed, I think you're talking about the savage axe transition :)
You got some frame at the start of the savage axe buff move. Pretty hard to use but this can save your lafe and give you swagg point. This get added with iceborne since the move exist ^^
