Great reaction youngster. Love your demeanor and analysis. One thing you must remember is that Jordan was a master at moving without the ball. He set up defenders like he was Jerry Rice. He was so quick that he easily had defenders off balance even when he didn't have the ball.
Great reviewer. You sum things up perfectly. Oh, and IF he had needed to develop a 3pt game, I'm certain he would have done that too. Any weakness, he quickly ironed out and got better. Some idiot said he was no good at D, and so what happens... Defensive player of the year, while also being named MVP, top scorer, most blocks, steals, etc... and went on to be all defensive team 9 times. He was simply perfection to watch. A true artist where the court was his playground. He PLAYED with the opposition and simply did as he willed.
Jordan shot over 38% from three in the playoffs of 1991, 1992 and 1993. This shows he was able to make threes when he chose to. What brings down his overall average is the fact that in most seasons he simply chose not to ATTEMPT the three that much (as in fewer that 1 attempt per game). In the seasons when he attempted over two three point attempts per game, he shot them at better than a 35% clip.
MJ shot the league average from 3 back then, 33%. Besides what you said about the 3 not being a point of emphasis during his era, keep in mind that MJ and players from that era didn't grow up with a 3 pt line to practice on. MJ didn't have a 3 pt line until his rookie yr in the NBA! Colleges didn't institute it nationally until 3 seasons after MJ left, and high schools the year after that. Imagine if MJ had been able to practice that shot since he was young - and we know how hard MJ worked in practice.
True! They said he didn't have range from behind the arc and he took it personal against Portland in 1992 Finals when he was the one blazin' trails. Clyde's glide was not match for Jordan's Rodan hang-time.
@@katrinachavez3533 Haha yeah. Drexler was a beast too but MJ made him look rather pedestrian. One thing that annoys me is Marv Albert's misinterpretation (which seemingly most people believe even now) about the shrug meaning "he can't believe it" as Marv said, when actually it was directed at those who had claimed that Drexler was 1b to MJ's 1a (ie not far behind). This annoyance is just behind my annoyance of the false narrative that MJ pushed off, which Isiah in the booth harped on (cuz he held and still holds a grudge). I'm getting tired of the mostly LeBron fans and/or MJ haters who keep bringing that up, but anyway...
The hornets player didn’t mess up..MJ pulled him through and went vertical for the inbound and when he have a 48” vertical that’s easy even over 7 footers
You hit the nail right on the head. I grew up watching 80s and 90s hoops. I can only think of one player that had a better post game and that was Olajuwon. Considering that Jordan was a Guard its ridiculous what he could do in the post!
Also he did shoot 3.. I believe he was the first guard in the finals to shoot 5 - 3 pointer in a row of 7 that he made. He had I think 39 points in 27 mins. That was against Portland. But Jordan loved to put the other team in foul trouble early because he was a 92% free throw shooter. So, he used to drive to the rim with no mercy all the time.
He completely dominated the NBA for so many years, it was magical. No other time in history had more people, black, white, ect. been basketball watchers, especially the finals.
He had passing skills as seen in the 1989 season. He played as a PG because the thought was he should have the ball more in his hands. He had 11 triple-doubles in 15 games. The problem was they lost most of those games. So they switched him back to SG and the rest is history.
I think they went .500 over that span. The results were mixed. At first there was some success. But eventually, team defenses started making adjustments.
@@cyber6sapien I haven't checked, but I believe they were way under .500. I think the problem wasn't that defenses caught up, but more so that, as unbelievable as Mike's individual stats were, he can't be doing everything by himself and expect to win. They needed to spread the load around in order to succeed. That's why when Phil became head coach the following year, he made him believe that if he could just trust others more, they would have better success. As a result of that thinking, Mike's overall stats took a little hit, but they had their first championship the following year and the first 3peat followed.
@@moonakieater2308 Exactly. But both things can be true at the same time. I've always said that part of the reason LeBron has so many Finals losses is because he is usually both the primary scorer AND primary ball handler for his teams. And when that''s the case, the well coached teams like San Antonio and GS can figure out how to beat you easier. All they need to do is slow down one guy, and it's a wrap!
6:22 I think MJ pulled the guy to the right - he grabbed the dudes right wrist before going past on the left - John Stockton used to dish out elbows left and right without the refs noticing. It’s about those little tricks and getting away with it.
Yo, that inbounds lob for the dunk? Usually what J did was pull the defenders arm in the opposite direction then go get the lob. You can see it clearer on other highlight clips he’d grab the guy right about the elbow. Ol school trick

Yea I was telling someone this recently. To truly comprehend how great MJ was you can't just watch a video or two. It takes a lot of investigation to really grasp his greatness.

🏀You said you're a BasketHead. You said with the exception of all the other skills, the only weakness MJ had would be his 3P's. But, if you review 11:41 to 12:07 of your video. You will be crystal clear why his 3P wasn't a weakness. 11:41 to 12:07 is you telling you why he didn't have one ...he-didn't-needed-it. 🏀Why do people insist on a BP being strong at an unnecessary task. You don't shoot 3P's for the sake shooting them, like you're at an audition. You shoot them when you need them and that's-what-he-did. Hence, 11:41 to 12:07. 🏀And besides, MJ and I thought he already settled that argument in Portland!🤔Hmmm, ...didn't he!?!?!?😉 MJ+🏀=🐐
Damn Verizon wireless crap, people beware of getting with them it's not what they say. Very poor service inside places if any especially your home. Imagine if u were trapped n a fire and only had ur mobile phone, just hope it isn't Verizon cause u won't get any service to call for help. Thst should be a main priority for a phone company who charges as much as they do
Dude, that play against Charlotte, the poor D? Nah, Jordan's first step/footwork was the best ever. There was no chance once he made up his mind to do something, you just hoped he messed up.
Maybe Kobe was a slightly better player. But nobody had the style, the form-the hands to control the ball. The drive to work. Vertical leap. And the national WGN cable channel that made MJ an even bigger star (and show salesmen). The highlights don’t tell the full story-you have to watch a full game to see the full control over the game-his menacing defense-clutch again and again. The Bulls never had that great of a team, night after night he would take over and come back and win-it was incredible. The resolution is awful but you have to watch some full games.
Hell no! This can't be from one damn season. Them are career highlights for most heads. This black cat ghost more dogs than Forest Whitaker. #TheWayOfTheHardwoodSamurai

True.. except in his 2nd season at UNC the ACC had a experimental three point line( only 17 feet 9 inches) for conference games only.
@@katrinachavez3533 Fact.. he killed everyone in his prime and not only was he the so great everyone including Shaq feared him.
It's not defensively poor, Jordan was literally unstoppable.

Check MJ when he played with the Washington Wizards at age 38 and 40 he was still been the same moves and points then any players now day.
88. Through the 2000s the championships were like
91-94 year and ½ break then he came back with #45 in 1995
96-99 ,championship runs then Wizard years

Lol Jordan will run into the whole team he don't care he's gonna get the basket no matter what
Jordan averaged .327% The average then was .33% the average now is 34%. So his worst part of his game was an average level.
exactly, and teams only shot about 6.6 3's a game in 88 and 12.6 in 98....nowadays they shoot how many per game?
