  • Sailing adventure with sport catamaran Dart 18 from Ankaran (Slovenia) to Corfu (Greece). Camping on the boat. Dinghy cruising July 2016. 5,5m sport catamaran. 14 days and 1400km. Sailing Slovenia, Croatia and Greece.
    SUBSCRIBE to my channel: bit.ly/3wLa6vp
    Started from Slovenia with light winds. Croatia had light and strong winds so sailing was fun. I was sleeping on the boat in calm bays. After 12 days I came to island Mljet in Croatia. Weather forecast was 4 days of strong NW wind and I sailed out on open sea directly to Greece. Sailing was fun as my average speed was 12kn. After sailing day and night in Otrant gates one rudder broke. I was 50nm from Corfu and slowly and carefully made it to the island. I was on the open sea for 2 days and nights with no sleep so it was nice to touch ground. It was grate sailing adventure. Slovenia, Croatia and Greece are beautiful countries that offer one of the best sailing areas.

    Cheers to you, Igor. Man, I've sailed my Hobie 18 to catalina once - all 30 miles from LA, jaja - and was a hell of a ride. I know for a fact that to do what you did you HAVE to have your shit together big time. That's seamanship to the highest... big hug from Southern California.

    Hi, Igor! I also bought a Dart 18 for touring in Croatia, nice to see, not to be alone with that idea! I am still preparing it (divisible mast to be able to transport it on the roof of a car, net in the front of the boat for more space, second very small and reefable mainsail...) I wouldn't dare to go out with it in that much wind as you do because i`m afraid to break something but your journey was really great, a wonderful inspiration like many of your videos! Thanks for that! Most of the time i sail a Bavaria 770 here in Austria and also Croatia, but small, fast boats are wonderful to be near to the water and nature!! Do you navigate with your Garmin InreachMap? Greetings from Austria!

    I loved the video. I have a 30 year old 5.7 meter G-Cat here in Southern California (Los Angeles), which I hope to sail to Catalina Island, which is the only good destination in the area. I am inspired by your video. I am a bit older, 58 years old, but that does not matter. I really appreciate the touches of good seamanship, like reefing your sails, the floats at the top of the mast, and the proper handling on the beach. I have wondered how to paddle my catamaran, and honestly did not think of doing it as simply as you did. Sit at the back so you and control the tiller and paddle. Thanks for posting the video. You can see one of my catamaran on my birthday at my RUclips Channel.

    Amazing video and trip! I suppose you have to be able to right the cat after a capsize but how would you do that - it seems on the heavy side for one person? Your videos are proving that you can do amazing trips on just about any boat but can I still ask if you were getting a fast dinghy for this kind of sailing, what would you look for?

    • @IgorStropnik
      @IgorStropnik  4 года назад +1

      I had a very long pole under the trampoline that I would use to right the boat. You can see it on aft of the trampoline. I am still trying to find a perfect dinghy. It has to be fast, stable, be able to sleep but not get wet, easy transport, durable, ... Laser 2 was the best so far. A am looking for RS Feva for next adventure. Finn could be good also. I would say that every adventure I do has different demands for type of boat.
