    2nd season coming up for me. Last year was overly cautious. My plan for this year is to dump it at least once per outing to learn where the (my) limits are and widen my abilities. Your vids are priceless for me -- keep it up!

      Nice! Good luck with that, keep it safe! It really helps a lot to be confident when capsized.
      Cheers

    So interesting ! watching this, I realize how much I learned as a teeanger racing with my sailing club, and also reading a tonnes of books. And training, training, training. I learned on 420s, and actually only capsized forward once I began sailing on a hobbie cat.
    And the shoe, so funny !

    Could you talk about hooking on to mainsheet, like in second clip. As I do a lot of single handed sailing. Regards Phil

    • @antoning3605
      @antoning3605 Год назад

      hi phil,i also use that from time to time, at the beginning i simply adopted those for windsurfer attaching my ankle to the main thru a line, then i thought the length of the line was too long and it could tangle with anything on the deck especially when gybing / tacking, so ended up i have something like that shown in this video, by removing the line from the windsurfer set, attach that on my wrist of the same hand which i play with the main sheet, instead of ankle, so that the cabiner hook is alway in my palm with main sheet runs thru it, that worked well and wont jam the sheet.

    When i had 24 years, i was sailing with a 44 years people not prepared . I used to stay with the escota sheet in my hand without catraca, to avoid turn...

      A very good plan to avoid the capsize.

    Regarding the crash with the shoe kick, I think its important to note that the bow of the Nacra 17 crashed down when the leeward C foil comes out of the water in a wave and loses its lift. You can see see this in slo-motion at 6:44.

    Do you know of any good apps for helping with sailing? Live telemetry speeds etc.

    • @JoyriderTV
      @JoyriderTV  Год назад +1

      Yes.
      But no, not to be able to see live, unless you look at a GPS like the Velocitek which you mount on the boat so that you can see it at all times. The 'Speed Puck' is the one i'd go for. Pretty expensive though.
      For applying telemetry afterwards:
      bit.ly/telemetryoverlay - use the code JOYRIDERTV for a discount

    Hi Jo, I have a question. We sail halcats at my club, I bought some sails from another guy. It turns out that my jib sail is from a Dart "I believe", point being its bigger than the standard halcat jib. Am I at a disadvantage or do I have an advantage?

    • @gvz2899
      @gvz2899 Год назад

      And on that, the jib clew has got 4 options for connecting the jib sheet, which option do I use for which wind strength?
