I learned that so long ago as an adult, and I use it all the time. For dishes that can handle it, I put a fresh tomato in it. It'll do the same (i.e., pasta dishes).
My mum passed away when I was young, immature to really become a adult, so I never got the chance to pick up these hacks and I’m so grateful to your page as I’ve gotten so many tricks, Tips, advice. Thank you very much. X❤

Hey thanks!!! I love your videos - after decades of wanting to learn to cook I’m finally doing it and your practical tips are very useful 😊 I made beef stroganoff last night for the first time. Very tasty but the meat should have been more tender. I’ll keep practicing 😊
Hi, Pam. Oh, how I love your charm and charisma whenever I visit your channel. The welcome to your place of wisdom is warm and inviting. Thank you for sharing your ideas, tips, etc. Abundant joy and blessings for making the things of life so much easier for us 🧡.
Hi Pam, thanks for posting this tip, about the potato, my grandmother told me about this years ago, this is the first time I’ve ever seen it posted anywhere.❤
FYI... It can work for vegetables as well... Thx you Pam, you are such a wise women full of knowledge... We thx God for ppl such as yourself, who are willing to share.
She is absolutely right. Last fall I had made a pot of chili and somehow I got it over seasoned with salt and I was disgusted at myself and I called my sister and asked her what I could do after attempting to divide my chili into two different pods and add more tomato juice and more chili sauce, etc. but nothing was making it better. She finally told me to add a potato. It was perfect.
Just tonight I added too much salt and was wondering how to fix it. Thank you Pam.
Did it work for you?
Pam, I don’t know why. But you are so wholesome to listen to.
Thank you Ms Pam,
Your are the Auntie we all need🔥
I actually knew this. I was told this years ago. (I'm old 😅) Glad you are sharing it with everyone else. Your tips are always helpful and welcomed.
I already knew that from my late mother. I am 70 yrs. Thanks for reminding me of her ❤❤
I never heard this trick before. This is actually life changing. Thank you Miss Pam.
So simple!! My grandma taught me this trick when I was little… I just remembered her sharing it! You took me down memory lane - 😊
How long do you leave the potato in to make it less salty?
@lilliangaynor9116 simmer for about 30 minutes, then remove the potato.
❤😊😊😊My Grandma taught me that too. Lovely you are sharing these "nuggets" of advice. Now they call them "hacks." 😅
I haven't personally tried, but slicing a carrot and putting into whatever dish is supposed to help remove acidity without adding flavor!
I learned that so long ago as an adult, and I use it all the time. For dishes that can handle it, I put a fresh tomato in it. It'll do the same (i.e., pasta dishes).
Hair looks great!
Thank you Miss Pam! I have definitely been disappointed by dishes that were too salty in the past.
Thank you so much for sharing all of your wisdom with us, it really and truly does go a long way!

Cook the potato until tender.
I also cut the potato into four pieces, it seems to absorb the salt better.

A bit of sugar also neutralizes the overpowering salt
True, but not if it´s really salty, sugar will just make it sweet too..

This really works. I’ve done it before.
@beckycaughel7557 do you continue to boil with the potatoes or just leave the potatoes in until you are ready to dish out.
@ once the potato absorbs the salt, and you can tell by tasting a bit of it take it out
Thank you Ms Pam
