The Minister of Infrastructure, Sigurður Ingi Jóhannsson, has been accused of making a racist remark towards the manager of the Association of Icelandic Farmers, Vigdís Hasler. The incident took place at a conference of the Icelandic Farmers’ Association last Thursday, where Sigurður Ingi was reported as having remarked that he did not want his photo taken “with this black one”, referring to Vigdís, who is a woman of colour. Hello Valur! I enjoyed the walk with you and Polly. Even though it was a very wet one! (I was the gal with my cousin who is well versed in Saga history! ). If anyone else reading this comes to Iceland I highly recommend the walking tour with Valur and Polly! It is very educational and enjoyable! and you have fun with Polly throwing the Frisbee. She loves it!

I wonder if Valur noticed the swimmers in the background. They made his complaints about the cold a bit odd. Polly is always fun to watch. What strange news you had today...

Polly didn’t want to keep picking up the frisbee off the asphalt so she stayed on the grass where she could. But she really loves her frisbee catch game.

Listening to the podcast associated with this story, it occurs to me that in English, announcing your sponsors Lava Car Rentals specially equipped for Iceland's F roads can have humorous perhaps unintended meaning in English. "Dirt and gravel" or "mud and gravel" roads is, at times, an "F" road for sure.

So much happening right now. Unfortunately that incident with the minister of infrastructure - shows we still have a ways to go to on fighting racism.
I really loved today’s Podcast and hope that Kyana will win and be able to stay. I knew it was hard for Americans to immigrate to Iceland but I was surprised of the difficulties she has encountered. I hope her fight will create changes because I too want to eventually move to there, as well. 🙏🏼
I know you tried to avoid having Pollý jump into the water for the frisbee, Valur. But I loved it - she gave me a reason to smile after a rough morning at work. Love Beautiful Pollý. ❤️

With negative temperatures and the wind chill it can be pretty brutal cold, "biting into the bone," especially after sundown. That is not though a very common feeling in Rvk, since it is relatively mild. Hope spring comes after this cold snap

They look like ‘Instrument Landing System’ (ILS) aerials. These would be the ‘localiser’ component projecting the centreline of the runway they serve by means of two overlapping radio beams. The second component (provided by another structure not visible in the film) provides the ‘glidepath’ guidance (a similar radio-based system which defines a safe and exact ‘slope’ profile to the runway threshold).
Signals from the two components are integrated on a combined display used by the pilot to fly the aircraft to a precise position from which a landing can be made ( within various legal limits/restrictions) when conditions preclude a safe visual approach.
All you engineers out there please feel free to correct me as it’s been 34 years since I last worked in an Airport ATC tower. Being in Iceland, it might be just a structure for air-drying fish😉.

I have been fascinated lately with cold water "ice bathing" though I saw no ice... -2degrees, sunny or not, qualifies as ice bathing to me. It is definitely an acquired taste, but seems healthy and possibly addictive to those who do it. Valur said that it looked pretty but the weather was a bit unfriendly so I assume the swimmer 🏊‍♂️ was demonstrating evidence of her commitment. It is also curious that she was completely alone. Hmmmm...
