@@daveweisbrich1769 I'm truly jealous you got to witness him live. I remember being just a kid watching sportcenter & being in complete awe because his curveball looked fake. Looked like CGI
I remember as a lil kid, before I knew better, I thought curves were sliders. think about it, they slide down just like I did at the playground slide🤔😆
Never had a chance. Reminds me of when I was in high school, I was a very good hitter, every year that I played I became more scared of being hit by a pitch. First time I saw a curveball as a hitter and 3 pitches in a row looked like they were going to hit me in the ear hole. Three straight pitches I ducked and hit the ground as the pitch came across the plate for 3 strikes. That was my last game of high school baseball for me
Curve Balls are WICKED, and I only experienced them at the High School level. Our team was practicing and I was at bat vs our star pitcher. 1st pitch was a wicked curve that I bailed on, and it broke in for a strike. 2nd pitch was another wicked curve that I bailed on, and it too broke in for "Strike 2!" Vowing to myself that I wasn't gonna get suckered for the 3rd time in a row and bail out of the batterers box, I held fast as the ball came right at me, NEVER BREAKING and smacking me in the back!! Fwiw, my Brother-in-Law went through college via a Baseball Scholarship, and he too said that hitting a Curve Ball was something well beyond his skill level!! They are NASTY!!
@@DadBradTo5 Your story made my day, I least it happened to someone else! Another funny story is how intimidated we would get when we got off the bus and the other team had players with beards and it just felt like we playing way older teams LOL
@greenMTN_boy Senior year, so only one season. Good fielder, lousy hitter, and I had the "speed" of a 3-legged turtle!! Didn't change my love of the game though, as I played informal games past my H.S. years..
Hold on a minute here ! I've been an Orioles fan for 50 years and dam near all of our players are out of our farm system , we deal with the Yankees and Redsox payroll in our division every year . Your barking up the wrong tree
I know how you feel I'm surprised we went out and got them cuz Baltimore is a small market also. For years we were the AAA team for the Yankees@@yolk2112
I was a star baseball player growing up - I was always the best on every team I played on - All Star games included - then I saw a curve ball and laid down -
Burnes is nasty, but who is that batting for the Angels, and why is he in the major leagues? He's ducking to get out of the way of a 78 mph 12-to-6 curveball that's never closer than 3 feet from him? And he swings 18 inches over a pitch at his ankles? Burnes is a great pitcher, but that was a TERRIBLE major league at-bat.
The camera doesnt show it but it probably had more horizontal break than the camera gives him credit for so it might look like the ball was just down but to him it looked like it was going at his head
Love watching a game live and thinking “we’ll see that on Pitching Ninja”
Haha I actually said those exact words while watching this game with my Pops
Ward still has PTSD from getting tattooed in the face by Alex Manoah from last year.
Alex manoah 💀
My first memories & love of baseball came from watching Barry Zito throw his 12-6 curve. I could sit and watch nasty curveballs all day.
I forgot about him. I use to use him in mlb2k and throw those nasty curves only for the cpu to never swing at them lol

What a beautiful frame by the catcher on that first curve.
Yep that was a ball

He could be a magician with that slight of hand.
Mental fist pump after faking out the ump.
Almost looks like the pitch tracker misread that ball.
BIG "Trouble With The Curve"
I can hear Nolan Ryan saying “Not bad, kid” to that 2nd pitch.

So you played your freshman year or part of it and quit? Awesome story

@@greenMTN_boy the story was that the game caught up with my talent and then some. It was my freshman year, Now I just play beer league softball.

The curveball doesn't get a lot of love nowadays
Both those pictures were filthy it's truly an art and fun to watch
As a brewers fan I HATE he is on the Orioles!
Same, I can't stand it

Your team needs better owners pal lol
“Folded”!!!
Excellent framing by the catcher on that first pitch
Amazing how they throw their pitches, also the batters have to have great coordination to catch what they see in split seconds
Just not fair. 😬
Nice frame job on the first pitch 👌
He pronates so well
That second one was beautiful
How bout dem Os!
They look scary good.
NASTY ASF! And these catchers make it look so easy too.

I haven't seen an uncle Charlie like that since My Three Sons.
Who is this guy? The second coming of Carl Hubbell 😂
brutal knee jellification
I have him on my fantasy team he had 28 yesterday😂
He had a better chance swing at the first one 🤦🏾🤦🏾 the second one dropped down quick 🤦🏾🤦🏾🤦🏾 no way he was making contact with that one
Wicked slider
12/6 nasty stuff!!
Remember a guy named Mark Clear? His broke more and he threw them 30% of the time.
Gotta love them 12 to 6 nasties.
Nasty!!!
And that's why he's in the big leagues
The dog bit her at the end of this video.
Do you use any BR spreadsheets
This is why i dont want the robots. This is the art of pitching. Making balls look likr strikes and strikes look like balls
Not reading the scouting reports...this is the results
When they allowed sand paper

Kinda reminds me of Uncle Charlie. Its just missing a little jazz
Nasty nasty, real nasty.
My estimate is the orioles are going to be a contender for the foreseeable future.
Almost as good as Wainwright’s curve!
Nice yakkk
Dontcha hate it when the pitch on release is going to hit you, and ten seconds later it's over the middle of the plate for a strike? ;)
Doesnt matter, Ward owns your team. Coming for you next series rematch at the end of the month.
Why is he bailing out on a curve ball that wasn't even inside at any point.
The camera doesnt show it but it probably had more horizontal break than the camera gives him credit for so it might look like the ball was just down but to him it looked like it was going at his head
That was beautifully disgusting : )
Got rocked by trout tho
For the only hit of the 6 inning outing
And it’s MIKE TROUT
Didn't Mike trout get like the only hit this entire game? The O's are so much better its not even funny
Awful stuff.. ❤
He can’t hit 80 mph pitches he should be out of the majors league.
