Last night I sinned. I sinned purposefully ignoring my conscience and the doctrines of the Church. Choosing to ignore God, I fell. God forgive me and give me strength.

In the dark night, above Bethlehem,
a bright star shined out, covering the Holy Land.
The Most Pure Virgin, the Holy Bride,
in a poor cave gave birth to a Son.
[Chorus] Sleep Jesus, sleep my little baby,
    Sleep my little star,
About your fate, my little sweet,
    To you I will sing.
She gently kissed and swaddled him,
She put him to bed, and quietly started to sing,
You will grow up, my Son, you’ll become a grown-up,
And you will go out into the world, my baby.
Sleep Jesus, sleep my sweet little baby,
    Sleep my little star,
About your fate, my little sweet,
    To you I will sing.
The Love of the Lord and God’s truth,
You will bring faith to the world, to your people,
The truth will live on, the shackles of sin will be shattered,
[But my child], on Golgotha, my child will die.
Sleep Jesus, sleep my sweet little baby,
    Sleep my little star,
About your fate, my little sweet,
    To you I will sing.
Sleep, Jesus, sleep my sweet little baby,
    Sleep my rose blossom,
    With hope on You
    The entire world is watching!

I’m a Latin Rite Catholic, and this brought me to tears.
What was it like for Saint Mary to be there on Golgotha? We cannot imagine.
      Jesus Christ is Lord.

In the dark night, over Bethlehem,
The clear dawn was gone, the earth covered with light.
    Holy Virgin, Holy Bride,
In the den of the poor Son gave birth.
    Refrain:
    Sleep, Jesus, Sleep, Little,
    Sleep, you, star, mine.
    Your fate, my dear,
    I sing to you.
Gently kissed, covered with a cloth,
She put to bed, quietly started the song:
You grow up, You, Son, You will become an adult,
In the world you will go, My baby.
    Chorus: Sleep, Jesus ...
The love of the Lord and the truth of God
You, in a world of faith, will bring your people,
The truth will live, the shackles of sin will break
But on Calvary, My child will die.
    Refrain:
Sleep Jesus Jesus sleep little baby
    Sleep, you, my star
    Your fate, my dear
    I sing to you
    ...
Sleep Jesus Jesus sleep little baby
    Sleep, you, my pink blossom
    And with hope in You
    The whole world is watching!

Wow. I'm someone who found Christ 2 years ago. I'm 24 now and I've been to quite a few churches before to find one I liked but I've never been so moved by religious music before. I always thought people exaggerated when they say they cry when they listen to music--but here I am a 24 year old man with tears streaming down my face. It's weird; I'm not crying but the overwhelming joy just has my eyes watering. I wonder if it has to do with the fact that I may have started straying from the path and this has brought me back on track.
I wish we had more orrhodox churches like this in America.
God bless anyone who happens to read this comment and don't be afraid to accept Christ as your savior.

Glad to see someone who found Christ , i did the same , even though i was raised in Christian family i was hesitant, but Lord showed me the way.
I suggest you check out Greek-Catholic church if you ever heard of it - we have both the Pope and Metropolitan - we are something between Catholics and Orthodox.
      May God bless you

When listening, this hymn makes me feel how absolutely hopeless and in despair we would be without Him. We would simply die and vanish into oblivion...
And then to think, that with Him comes all hope in the world. And that all this hope in the world came into this world in the form of a small baby, lying in a manger. Not through a powerful army of angels, but through a small baby... I still cannot fathom it, but I know it is right. It can't be otherwise...

The true meaning of Christianity is just there, in the name CHRISTianity. It's not about how beautiful someone sings or how fervently they pray or any other forms of holiness which can be emulated by any non-regenerated person.
CHRIST is the true meaning of Christianity my friend.

Orthodoxy has a spirit that I find my deep heart and gives me full peace and takes me to the far lands..and I even see some beautiful "planned" coincidences and realized wishes whenever I am in an orthodox greek church and after praying in a church.. not sure why but it makes me feel blessed.

The Eastern Orthodox Church is the closest that we have to the true beginning of our Christian Religion. The First "Ecclesia" One can only feel Paul and all the Apostles nod in approval knowing that the Orthodox Church has kept it's promise to dwell in its earliest teachings and beliefs.... never wavering from the early doctrines......the teachings of the true Church of Christ....an Orthodoxy of The Rules set forth by the Christ....The Anointed One !.... Kyrie Eleison !

I first heard this beautiful chant yesterday on Orthodox Christmas Eve. It was by chance. I was driving as the snow was falling and I wanted to put something play in the car. The second this chant started playing I was overcome by pure joy and emotion. So much so that tears began to stream down my face. Such a feeling I can’t describe but would wish for everyone to be able to feel at least once in their life. May the Lord have mercy on all who devote their lives to him. May he bless your families and keep you all safe. Amen.

From the St Herman of Alaska website
    Translation into English:
In the dark night, above Bethlehem,
a bright star shined out, covering the Holy Land.
The Most Pure Virgin, the Holy Bride,
in a poor cave gave birth to a Son.
[Chorus] Sleep Jesus, sleep my little baby,
    Sleep my little star,
About your fate, my little sweet,
    To you I will sing.
She gently kissed and swaddled him,
She put him to bed, and quietly started to sing,
You will grow up, my Son, you’ll become a grown-up,
And you will go out into the world, my baby.
Sleep Jesus, sleep my sweet little baby,
    Sleep my little star,
About your fate, my little sweet,
    To you I will sing.
The Love of the Lord and God’s truth,
You will bring faith to the world, to your people,
The truth will live on, the shackles of sin will be shattered,
[But my child], on Golgotha, my child will die.
Sleep Jesus, sleep my sweet little baby,
    Sleep my little star,
About your fate, my little sweet,
    To you I will sing.
Sleep, Jesus, sleep my sweet little baby,
    Sleep my rose blossom,
    With hope on You
    The entire world is watching!

I was just googling info about the Orthodox practice of chanting the Divine Liturgy, and clicked on this thinking it was an example of such... Did not expect to have my heart simultaneously uplifted and broken by beauty and God's glorification in the worship of His people!
I'm just a seeker, drawn deeply to the Orthodox Church. The feeling of blessedness and devotion in the Spirit in this music is what I've come to expect from my encounters with Orthodoxy in action... The ways in which I have experienced the Holy Spirit since being led to Orthodoxy are unlike anything I'd known before, with a depth, clarity, and stillness that I never knew or thought possible.
    God bless.

This holy music gives respect and a deep understanding of the suffering that Christ experienced for all. Although most Christian music does show gratitude, this expression of empathy toward Christ's own suffering and sacrifice is part of what makes this music so precious.

I am a traditional Roman Catholic Christian and miss it in my church, where the beautiful Catholic chants were replaced by terrible "gospel rock bands" during mass. Orthodox brothers know how to maintain tradition and true faith in Our Lord Jesus Christ. They don't care about the modernities and all these Protestant things that are destroying my beautiful old Roman Catholic Church. We here in the west are sick. We are losing our faith because of this "new church" founded by Bergoglio and his little bishops friends. All my respect to the Orthodox brothers. God bless you all, brethren. Pax Et Bonum. Kýrie, eléison.

Wow first time I have seen someone going the other way. I spent 32 years of my life as a devout and loud atheist. Over the past year I have been physically guided on this journey I kept explaining to my wife as being towards knowledge or wisdom or enlightenment, I didn’t know what was going on and I couldn’t talk to anyone about it cause it sounded crazy. Every question I asked in my head, I was immediately being given the answer in physically form in the physical realm. This kept going for awhile, me constantly asking question and physically being given an answer immediately until I realized it was gods work, not god specifically but his archangel michael specifically, the thing that bugged me most is I couldn’t figure out why me, I was a god awful atheist that detested religion and god, that’s when I was made to realize exactly how much god loves me and nothing will ever changed that, and yes it was why me because I was special to god just like every other person on this earth is special to god and there’s been hundreds of thousands of us going through it, from Kanye west to millions of around the world “the great awakening” is occurring and gods glory love and light is about engulf this planet and will be one of the most significant turning points in human history!
