The number one reason that Utah is ranked last in gender equality is because they rank and weight heavily based on women that take jobs. So if you're a stay-at-home mom they rank it low. Like it's a bad thing! The best job in the world and it's ranked as the worst.

    • @chlyri

it's the best... to some. it's the worst to others. women are often pressured by religion to stay home and uphold those gender roles, which is why it's indicative of inequality. it also puts women in a position where they can't leave.

The funny thing is now (in the LDS Church) Women are treated as not only being equals (but often even put on a pedestal, and then to the detriment of men) Often the men are put down (inside the church), told they aren't as "good" or not as faithful as women and are bad. I myself have repeatedly heard this time in time (not just members, but actual bishop, teachers, leaders etc). The Church (especially) know bends over backwards to make the women feel good about themselves (Even changed the temple ceremonies). Plus the LDS church is the only church that says women can be "goddesses" (So I would think that aspect is an amazing for Women). So Im sorry this sister felt wronged sometimes growing up (maybe the outside made her feel that way - that women in the church didn't have it good, etc - or need more) So I don't doubt everything she says, as I'm all about improvement and doing better. However try being a man now days! Thats who is primarily is attacked. And this thought or teaching id definitely not consistent with the Proclamation to the Family. Honestly I think this is not the real doctrine but more "culture" and pandering to one gender group in order to appease, or not loose membership, etc. So I'm not opposed to making even a particular group feel special, but not at the "expense" of another (which is a "zero sum game"). When one person said one-time in leadership : men 9/10 are worse than women, etc. So I feel bad for the good men in the church (many have been abused verbally, or in other ways) by women etc - when the church may sometimes turn a blind eye to these (abusers, trends or actions) just because they are not men. No wonder men feel they are being attacked (outside the church) and sometimes (ignored) inside the church. Anyway food for thought and God Bless :)

It's called "benevolent sexism" when you pretend to hold women in high regard, but still give men authority, prestige, privilege and power. Women are never in critical leadership roles. They are "auxiliaries" (i.e. non-essential) by the Church's own admission.
The Church still heavily pins women down as being created for marriage and children and discourages women from pursuing fulfilling lives outside of home & family. I sincerely regret the wasted time & opportunities lost by letting uninspired men tell me how to live my life.
      I'm happy I left.

I’ve personally never seen or experienced any belittling of parental roles or anything. The Catholic Church has no logic behind it as they pay to a bunch of different people. Let's take Mary the mother of Jesus for example. They pay to marry, and yet she did not die for our sins. She did not create the universe or the world we live on. She could not, of her own power, do anything any other woman on earth can do, even though she was an extremely righteous woman, seeing as she was chosen of God to be the mother of our Savior.
The Catholic Church has also covered up the rape and even murder of children for centuries and concerned the homosexuality of their priest, all why claiming not to condone it.

@@chlyri No, women should not be able to bless their children. We read in Alma 42 that God will cease to be God if He didn't follow the eternal laws. There is a perfect scientific and legal pattern upon which the order and function of the cosmos is organized and runs.
This specific creation is the footstool of the Lord. A specific pattern had to play out here in order to complete the universal pattern successfully.
Eve did the courageous thing to put things in motion. The consequences of negativity toward women will be laid at the doorstep of men who have been cruel. The sufferings of women who have to deal with this chauvinism will be more than made up in the eternities. We understood the bigger picture and excitedly agreed to our part in the plan. The honor and blessings for those on this specific footstool, who are obedient to the laws of the Lord will be astonishingly worth it.
Women, if sanctified, will be high priestesses and Queens in the eternities, equal in power and authority with their husbands. The reasons for the challenging role of this footstool earth are layered. I give Firesides on this subject but it is way too long for social media and frankly, too sacred to share in this setting.
Please try to understand that we are being tested to see if we have faith to follow the Lord once we have received the witness from the Spirit that the Church is true. That is what it all comes down to. We're not a social club, this is the true Church of Jesus Christ.

And I am less than because my family has no long standing ties to the church that they are aware of and it’s because I don’t mention that they do. I don’t attend because God and I have a different relationship than I have with the church. I believe God’s Word not false doctrine.

Woman have no value men value is priceless, hence men becoming so sensitive they believe they are made to be a female. Religions hold the woman as sacred, BECOME the greater being you are made to be. God created woman for man to have a flesh to flesh connection of giving God the image of the KIND of love, with choice, to honor God first ALWAYS but to be fruitful of righteousness for eternity. But I have yet to meet a single person that hasn't actually broken any of God's laws in their lifetime. With that said. The church has failed many people. In the name of God many people have been hurt, humiliated and even raped. That is why God is now raising people from the satanic church, saving them, cleansing them, and raising them as leaders instead.

Feeling 'less-than' is cultural more than doctrinal. I get it on a certain level but, its an inaccurate perception plaguing younger women these days. The belief system of inequality and feminism is a social construct: a religion that doesn't value anything you love beyond anything else. Its trading down when you're so much more than equal!
No one determines your worth but you and when you know yourself, you'll know how empowered you are. Nobody will be able to tell you otherwise. Whatever your desired destination, or standard of living, becoming an actualized, fulfilled being as all God created you to become. The church's encouragement can feel like criticism, especially for young Moms. It isn't. There are so many enticing arguments and so many are loosing this struggle. Your argument is about how the father holds the child, and male relatives stand around him while he, the father gives a blessing asking God to help their child throughout their life and because you don’t stand there for that 5 minutes, that makes you beneath him or unequal? You gave birth to the baby, you knew the baby better than it’s father did before it was born. My husband was jealous I got to have that and he didn’t. That’s not unequal. Men & women are different. We have different roles. Just because a man has something or a woman has something doesn’t make it unequal for the opposite sex. Why aren’t you concerned about the fact your husband can’t lay beside you and give birth too? Or breastfeed? Is it inequality when female officers are used in domestic violence situations? Females are generally better at diffusing a situation than men are, Is that inequality because female officers are better at domestic situations? You chose your words to gather the most sympathy & impact without giving the entirety of the story. This channel has nothing to do with the gospel of Jesus Christ. It’s here only to make money, and we all know the best way to make money is to gaslight people with lies.
