  • In this program, Dr. Ankerberg and guests, Sandra Tanner, Michael Wilder, Dr. Lynn Wilder, will look at some of the basic beliefs regarding God according to Mormon teachings, including stories from John's guests as former Mormons who explain what life was like and how they turned to biblical Christianity. As we do, we'll find the answers to some of the questions generally held about Mormons along with a deeper understanding of our own Christian faith.

*+Hector Rodriquez* » If the LDS church taught only what was found in the Bible, we wouldn't be Jesus' church. Yes, God can have a body and be a being of spirit -- they are not mutually exclusive at all. If the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are not three individuals, then it's not Christianity. Jesus prayed to the Father and said concerning the Twelve: _“...that THEY may be ONE, even as WE are ONE.”_ Thus, the oneness is one of purpose. As GOD is both singular and plural, so are words like FAMILY and CHURCH. They are continuums. God told Moses, _“For this is my work and my glory, to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man.”_ Man are God's children, and those who gain eternal life become like HIM. Thus, “when _we see HIM, we shall be LIKE HIM.”_ (See 1 John 3:2) As Father Kallistos Ware noted in his book _The ORTHODOX Way_, “The Incarnation, then, is not simply a way of undoing the effects of original sin, but is an essential stage upon man's journey from the divine image to the divine likeness.” And as St. Clement of Alexandria, said, _“The greatest of all lessons is to know one's self; for if one knows himself, he will know God; and if he knows God, he will become like God.”_ Clement was one of the finest scholars of the first century church, though he lived in the third century. And St. Augustine made many similar comments. And finally, as Father Ware, so aptly noted, _“He [Jesus] became as we are, so as to make us what he is.”_ It's not us becoming like the Father, but us becoming what the Son is! But is there a difference? How is our doctrine any different than John's belief that we will become like the Son? Is it any different to think that that we can inherit all that the Father has as part of our inhertance? It is traditional Christianity that's a day late and a dollar short, not Mormonism. But God bless you anyway that you may one day realize what the earliest scholars of Christianity knew long ago, and which was revealed to Joseph Smith!

Are you a mormon ? Do you think Jesus is Satan's brother and that we will be GOD'S? And that people or let's say Black's were bad that came from cain?

    • @johnroberts6695
      @johnroberts6695 7 лет назад

*+Hector Rodriquez* » I believe we are all brothers and sisters of Jesus Christ, as we are all God's children. But because Jesus is the author of our salvation, He also is our Father. I knew a man more than twenty years ago who rejected the Book of Mormon because the Mexican white god Quetzacoatl (who bears a striking resemblance to Jesus Christ) was the brother of the Satan god in the traditions. It didn't matter that Quetzacoatl was born of a virgin, did many miracles, died at a place associated with a skull, became alive again and promised one day to return. The man's brother was an archeologist and told him Quetzalcoatl's brother was the Mexican satan. Thus, despite the other similarities, he said, Jesus could not be the basis of the Quetzalcoatl legend. To me, if you want to reject Jesus because of his brotherhood with us and those who fell in premortality, go right ahead. It doesn't detract from who He is not how we worship Him.

John God bless you, keep seeking God.

    • @johnroberts6695
      @johnroberts6695 7 лет назад

*+Hector Rodriquez* » We should always seek God regardless of our relationship with him. But we also should not seek or threaten condemnation on others. If you believe God will condemn a man to Hell because he's a Jehovah's Witness or a Mormon, then one should redouble one's efforts to know God. I'm not accusing you of this, but there are many out there who are too quick to condemn. They don't realize God loves His children and extends to them a great deal of latitude on their beliefs, and this because of man's imperfections and predilections to err. He sends His Holy Spirit to guide man, but how can the Holy Spirit be leading so many churches and people in so many different directions? Every Christian I know tells me he or she is led by the Holy Spirit. LDS apostles declare they are led by the Holy Spirit. So do the leaders of the Catholic Church, and Evangelical leaders, yet they all teach different doctrines. So _claims_ mean _nothing_. Rather than condemning other religions or claiming we worship different Jesuses, we should be willing to let time sort it out. The reason? Because one day, every knee shall bend and every tongue confess Christ. Then, all differences will be put to rest.

Helen E there may be a difference in what people believe and in what can be found in Mormon scripture and talks given by Mormon Prophets any Apostle is considered a prophet regardless of whether he is the president of the church or not.
most Mormons never read the Journal of discourses because the church recalled it since they obviously didn't want people reading it anymore because the teachings of the earlier prophets and apostles don't seem to be something that they want to perpetuate it's just not good for business.
you can most likely find within LDS scripture the teaching that Jesus Christ atone for everyone on every world you can also find statements like one by John Taylor which would indicate that every world had a temperature and probably every world had a savior not sure about that one anymore the book of Moses most likely chapter 7 will have the first teaching I mentioned though

Christianity is the only world religion that invites investigation. Fore Truth has no reason
to fear the light to be shined upon it. In fact, God demands it of us, to seek after Him.
Only by the truth He is revealed. Know what the LDS Church believes and is saying,
"They possess the truth." God says: My Children perish due to lack of knowledge.

Here is a little preview for anyone who might wonder what the Book of Mormon says.
600 years before the coming of the Savior, a Book of Mormon prophet named Nephi wrote that the Messiah of whom the prophets had spoken was the Son of God, and he declared, “The way is prepared for all men from the foundation of the world if it so be that they repent and come unto him.”
Lehi, another prophet, told his son Jacob, “There is no flesh that can dwell in the presence of God save it be through the merits, and mercy, and grace of the Holy Messiah, who layeth down his life according to the flesh and taketh it again by the power of the Spirit, that he may bring to pass the resurrection of the dead, being the first that should rise.
“Wherefore, he is the firstfruits unto God, inasmuch as he shall make intercession for all the children of men; and they that believe in him shall be saved.”
Nephi prophesied to his people, “Behold, they will crucify him; and after he is laid in a sepulchre for the space of three days, he shall rise from the dead with healing in his wings; and all those who shall believe on his name shall be saved in the kingdom of God. Wherefore, my soul delighteth to prophesy concerning him, for I have seen his day and my heart doth magnify his holy name.
“For according to the words of the prophets, the Messiah cometh in six hundred years from the time that my father left Jerusalem; and according to the words of the prophets, and also the word of the angel of God, his name shall be Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
“And now behold, I say unto you that the right way is to believe in Christ and deny him not; and Christ is the Holy One of Israel; wherefore ye must bow down before him and worship him with all your might, mind, and strength, and your whole soul; and if ye do this, ye shall in nowise be cast out.”
We read in the Book of Mormon that a King named Benjamin foretold the coming of the Savior about 120 years before his birth: “For behold, the time cometh and is not far distant, that with power, the Lord Omnipotent who reigneth, who was and is from all eternity to all eternity, shall come down from heaven among the children of men, and shall dwell in a tabernacle of clay, and shall go forth amongst men, working mighty miracles, such as healing the sick, raising the dead, causing the lame to walk, the blind to receive their sight, and the deaf to hear, and curing all manner of diseases.
“And he shall be called Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Father of heaven and earth, the Creator of all things from the beginning; and his mother shall be called Mary.”
After King Benjamin finished his lengthy talk putting forth the precepts of eternal salvation, the people responded: “We believe all the words which thou hast spoken unto us; and also we know of their surety and truth because of the Spirit of the Lord Omnipotent, which has wrought a mighty change in us, or in our hearts, that we have no more disposition to do evil but to do good continually.”
Abinadi, another prophet, testified to wicked King Noah and his priests, “I say unto you that salvation doth not come by the law alone, and were it not for the atonement, which God himself shall make for the sins and iniquities of his people, that they must unavoidably perish, notwithstanding the law of Moses.
“For behold, did not Moses prophesy concerning the coming of the Messiah and that God should redeem his people? Yea, and even all the prophets who have prophesied ever since the world began-have they not spoken more or less concerning these things?
“Have they not said that God himself should come down among the children of men and take upon him the form of man and go forth in mighty power upon the face of the earth?
“And have they not said also that he should bring to pass the resurrection of the dead and that he, himself, should be oppressed and afflicted?
“I would that ye should understand that God himself shall come down among the children of men and shall redeem his people.”
Abinadi prophesied that the Lord would suffer temptation “and yieldeth not to the temptation but suffereth himself to be mocked, and scourged, and cast out, and disowned by his people.
“And after all this, after working many mighty miracles among the children of men, he shall be led, yea, even as Isaiah said, as a sheep before the shearer is dumb, so he opened not his mouth.
“Even so, he shall be led, crucified, and slain.”
Abinadi continued, “And thus God breaketh the bands of death, having gained the victory over death; giving the Son power to make intercession for the children of men.
“And now if Christ had not come into the world, speaking of things to come as though they had already come, there could have been no redemption.
“And if Christ had not risen from the dead, or have broken the bands of death, that the grave should have no victory and that death should have no sting, there could have been no resurrection.
“But there is a resurrection, therefore, the grave hath no victory and the sting of death is swallowed up in Christ.
“He is the light and the life of the world; yea, a light that is endless that can never be darkened; yea, and also a life which is endless that there can be no more death.
“And now, ought ye not to tremble and repent of your sins, and remember that only in and through Christ ye can be saved?”

Part 2 (continued from previous post)
Alma the elder, who believed the words of Abinadi, went among the people of King Noah teaching the words of Abinadi. He taught them about the resurrection of the dead and the redemption that would be brought to pass through the power, and sufferings, and death of Christ and his resurrection and ascension into heaven.
In due time, Alma returned to the land of Zarahemla and organized the Church of Christ among the Nephites throughout the land, and all those who desired to take upon them the name of Christ joined themselves to the Church.
Not long afterwards, the Lord spoke unto Alma these words: “Blessed is this people who are willing to bear my name; for in my name shall they be called; and they are mine.”
The Lord also said to Alma, “Thou art my servant; and I covenant with thee that thou shalt have eternal life; and thou shalt serve me and go forth in my name and shalt gather together my sheep.
“And he that will hear my voice shall be my sheep; and him shall ye receive into the church and him will I also receive.
“For behold, this is my church; whosoever is baptized shall be baptized unto repentance. And whomsoever ye receive shall believe in my name and him will I freely forgive.
“For it is I that taketh upon me the sins of the world; for it is I that hath created them; and it is I that granteth unto him that believeth unto the end a place at my right hand.
“For behold, in my name are they called; and if they know me, they shall come forth and shall have a place eternally at my right hand.
“And it shall come to pass that when the second trump shall sound, then shall they that never knew me come forth and shall stand before me. (That would include all those who have rejected the true gospel of Jesus Christ that he has restored in these latter days.)
“And then shall they know that I am the Lord their God, that I am their Redeemer; but they would not be redeemed.”
Alma the younger, after having gone about with the sons of Mosiah seeking to destroy the church of God, and after having had an angel appear unto him to admonish him of his iniquity, and after having been racked with the pains of eternal torment for three days, testified to the people, “I have repented of my sins and have been redeemed of the Lord; behold I am born of the Spirit.
      “And the Lord said unto me: Marvel not that all mankind, yea, men and women, all nations, kindreds, tongues and people, must be born again; yea, born of God, changed from their carnal and fallen state to a state of righteousness, being redeemed of God, becoming his sons and daughters;
“And thus they become new creatures; and unless they do this, they can in nowise inherit the kingdom of God.”
Alma explained, “Unless this be the case, they must be cast off; and this I know, because I was like to be cast off.
“Nevertheless, after wading through much tribulation, repenting nigh unto death, the Lord in mercy hath seen fit to snatch me out of an everlasting burning, and I am born of God.
“My soul hath been redeemed from the gall of bitterness and bonds of iniquity. I was in the darkest abyss; but now I behold the marvelous light of God. My soul was racked with eternal torment; but I am snatched and my soul is pained no more.
“I rejected my Redeemer and denied that which had been spoken of by our fathers; but now that they may foresee that he will come and that he remembereth every creature of his creating, he will make himself manifest unto all.
“Yea, every knee shall bow, and every tongue confess before him. Yea, even at the last day, when all men shall stand to be judged of him, then shall they confess that he is God; then shall they confess, who live without God in the world, that the judgment of an everlasting punishment is just upon them; and they shall quake, and tremble, and shrink beneath the glance of his all-searching eye.”
King Lamoni, a Lamanite who found salvation thru the preaching of Ammon, proclaimed, “Behold, I have seen my Redeemer; and he shall come forth and be born of a woman, and he shall redeem all mankind who believe on his name.”
Aaron taught the Lamanites “concerning the coming of Christ, and also concerning the resurrection of the dead, and that there could be no redemption for mankind save it were through the death and sufferings of Christ and the atonement of his blood.”
Aaron also expounded unto Lamoni’s father that “since man had fallen, he could not merit anything of himself; but the sufferings and death of Christ atone for their sins through faith and repentance and so forth; and that he breaketh the bands of death, that the grave shall have no victory, and that the sting of death should be swallowed up in the hopes of glory.”
In Mormon’s narrative, he wrote, “Thus we see the great call of diligence of men to labor in the vineyards of the Lord; and thus we see the great reason of sorrow, and also of rejoicing-sorrow because of death and destruction among men, and joy because of the light of Christ unto life.”
Alma taught the Zoramites to “believe in the Son of God, that he will come to redeem his people, and that he shall suffer and die to atone for their sins; and that he shall rise again from the dead, which shall bring to pass the resurrection, that all men shall stand before him to be judged at the last and judgment day.”
Alma instructed his son Helaman to bring the message of salvation to the Nephites, stating, “Preach unto them repentance and faith on the Lord Jesus Christ; teach them to humble themselves and to be meek and lowly in heart; teach them to withstand every temptation of the devil with their faith on the Lord Jesus Christ.”
Just prior to the birth of the Savior, the Lord spoke to Nephi, this Nephi being the son of Nephi, who was the son of Helaman, and the Lord said, “Lift up your head and be of good cheer; for behold, the time is at hand, and on this night shall the sign be given, and on the morrow come I into the world to show unto the world that I will fulfil all that which I have caused to be spoken by the mouth of my holy prophets.”
After his resurrection and ascension into Heaven, the risen Savior appeared to the Nephites and the first thing he said was: “Behold, I am Jesus Christ, whom the prophets testified shall come into the world.
“And behold, I am the light and the life of the world; and I have drunk out of that bitter cup which the Father hath given me and have glorified the Father in taking upon me the sins of the world, in the which I have suffered the will of the Father in all things from the beginning.”
And after the Nephites fell to the earth in astonishment, the Savior said: “Arise and come forth unto me that ye may thrust your hands into my side, and also that ye may feel the prints of the nails in my hands and in my feet, that ye may know that I am the God of Israel and the God of the whole earth, and have been slain for the sins of the world.”
All of these scriptures and more are in the Book of Mormon. The Book of Mormon truly is a testimony of Jesus Christ. Anyone who believes in Jesus Christ and believes what the Bible says will believe the Book of Mormon, and they will know that it is the word of God.
Give heed to the words of Nephi, a Book of Mormon prophet who wrote, “And if they are not the words of Christ, judge ye-for Christ will show unto you with power and great glory that they are his words at the last day; and you and I shall stand face to face before his bar; and ye shall know that I have been commanded of him to write these things.”

The Christians need to realize that adoring the cross is NOT what Christ taught, he also taught to take up the cross and follow him on that straight and narrow path that leads to life back to his Father's presence.

Taking up the cross starts with becoming a member of the Savior's church. You will then become a saint (New Testament). Follow the Savior into the waters of Baptism by immersion, by those in authority, be confirmed a member of Christ's Church. Receive the Holy Ghost (Gift of the Holy Ghost) by the laying on of hands by those who have Christ's authority. If you are a man you will receive the Aaronic Priesthood (Lesser Priesthood). As you begin to serve you will gain experience and will be prepared to receive the Melchizedek Priesthood (Higher Priesthood). If you don't take these steps you will never see the Father or His Kingdom again. Start becoming a saint in the Church of the Firstborn and stop being a unempowered Bible vagrant.

I suspect that the only Mormons who now defend the faith vehemently are those on the inside, i.e. the top brass so to speak (the "apostles" and upper management) who have deeply vested personal interests, plus members who are not fully aware of the actual teachings and doctrines of the LDS organization.
For example, do members know about Kolob? Or that Joseph Smith claimed the moon was inhabited; or that Brigham Young claimed the SUN was inhabited?
Are they familiar with the teaching that God was once a MAN and through his behavior became God? Do they know the LDS doctrine that after death, men become founders of new universes, become Gods (gods?) themselves? Do they realize the extent to which temple rituals are based on Freemasonry? Do they know the history of Joseph Smith in detail, for example that he was deeply into the occult?
Have they researched the "Book of Abraham"? (an egregious fraud, easily exposed by Egyptologists)
Are they aware of the astounding similarities between the "Book of Mormon" and other books written before the BoM, relating a supposed Jewish ancestry to native Americans?
And do they know that DNA analysis has proven that the American Indians' ancestors were NOT Jews, but Asians?
I have no doubt that with the increasing availability of information, through the Internet, there will be a rapidly accelerating fall-off in the Mormon church --- and their missionaries will experience more and more resistance in their visitations.
When my spouse and I were approached many years ago, the story of the "translation" of the "Book of Mormon" was that Joseph Smith used a "urim" and a "thumin" formed into spectacles to read the plates, but that's been changed, and now the LDS organization avers that Smith put a seer stone in his hat, stuck his head in his hat to keep light out, and DICTATED the "Book of Mormon" without looking at the metal plates!
    Blessings!

It is the Master star that gives light to all the other stars in the galaxy...As for having inhabitants in the stars, or in the sun God and the angels they do reside on burning orbs of fire in everlasting burnings. I do believe that each star you see up in the sky is a celestial world that has been crowned with the glory of God. And people like Sandra is going to run into problems when she gets to the veil because she apostasized and didn't keep the law of the Lord..

Try out 1 Corinthians 8:5. There are gods and lords - “many” in fact. Once again selective in their scriptures. The doctrine that man could advance to be like their Heavenly Father is clear and scripturally correct; did not Jesus command his followers to “ Be ye therefore perfect even as your Heavenly Father is perfect.” It can’t BE any more clear than that. Isn’t it the object of every created being to become in the likeness of it’s progenitor ? Moreover, the doctrine that man can become God is replete and well established among the early Christians - it wasn’t until the 4th century and after the church fell into a complete apostate state did this doctrine get “pushed out.” If the early 4th century Catholic Church is the “Church of the Devil” as modern Christianity claims it is, doesn’t that make everything that came afterward also apostate ? “Can an evil tree bring forth good fruit (as the Savior said). The Trinitarian doctrine is no-where to be found in any biblical text: it was manufactured in the 5th century by apostate “Christianity” and continues to be peddled in the face of its incoherence and on numerous occasions Jesus prayed to his Heavenly Father - to whom was he conversing ? Himself ? How absurd ! And yet this is what modern “Christians” preach. I know these people - not personally - but I know of their devious doings, that is putting out a false narrative about what members of the Church of Jesus Christ really know and teach. THEY are they whom the Son Of God warned about “deceivers that lie and wait to deceive.” I can also say that the reasons why they left the church is not for the ones they profess here. They left because they found themselves in a condition where they chose their pride over what they knew was right; it always comes down to that. This is so because they now fight against what they once knew was true in order to save face. They can’t help themselves.

Watching this made me see Isaiah in a better light It made me stop and really read what was being said, but it is not what they say it is. careful when reading text out of context you really need to read it further. I Replaced God with Savor or Christ and it changed the out look on what is being said. Also, when you read further down from Isaiah 44:8 it talks about not worshiping false gods or idles, IT really comes down to how each of us interprets the Bible hence the many different religions.

What you don't understand is that Intelligence is eternal and has no end. For the glory of God is intelligence. But intelligence can be enlarged upon, so it can evolve from Intelligence by God to Spirit Children and given Gender, male and female, and given free agency and then sent down to earth to obtain a body to further develop the attributes of God by experiencing adversity and choosing between good and evil and through living God's laws and choosing good that is how the greatest intelligence God gets the lesser intelligence's his children to advance until they become like himself and finally the intelligence who obeys the laws of God gets Resurrected to inherit the same resurrected body that God himself has and becomes like God and joins him in his kingdom. That is how God had evolved from intelligence, to a spirit man, went through the Fall to become a mortal man, and finally was resurrected into a God to inherit all power and glory just like God his father had done before him.
The Latter-day Saints are teaching the truth about God's eternal progression and how he came to progress from an intelligence, to a spirit son of God, and come to an earth to gain a mortal body of flesh and blood, live the laws of his Father God then die, then in the resurrection gets exalted into a God. As there are stages of development a god must go through to become a God, this is known as Godhood and that truth of eternal progression does not in any way negate the eternal nature of God's intelligence which has always existed. That is why we teach in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints that God has an eternal spirit housed inside of his glorified resurrected body of flesh and bones, and his spirit has always existed because spirit element or intelligence is eternal and so also is the spirit of man is also eternal the same as God is because the intelligence of man has always existed the same as God... For man was in the beginning also with God just as Jesus his Son was, because God is the Father of all of our Spirits. But Latter-day Saints also know that the intelligence that the spirit was created by God from is also eternal and has no end and is of the same element God's spirit is made of.

This is the truth. This climb to eternal progression to ascend up and up the ladder and up into the clouds of heaven untill one becomes like God who is found right up at the top of the ladder is Found in Jacob's Dream of the Ladder in Genesis of the Bible.
And if Christians can't believe that, man has to begin at the first step and then climb up the ladder towards perfection in God which is what Christ taught also in his ministry then they don't believe what their own bibles are telling them or believe what Christ taught to become perfect even as Father in heaven is perfect.
And the reason why the ladder stretches up into the clouds of heaven and beyond the veil is because to get to where God is will take more than this lifetime to get there so perfection is not to be all obtained here in this life and the reason why Christians think we teach that perfection has to be all obtained only in this life is because they have no eternal perspective.....And don't see things as God sees them.

That means we must decide which faith has the real Christ because somebody clearly has a mythical Christ. Do these faiths have the same Jesus? No, if you read the LDS Ensign. It says Christian Churches worship a different Jesus (May 1977, p.26).

"Who can tell us of the inhabitants of this little planet that shines of an evening, called the moon?... when you inquire about the inhabitants of that sphere you find that the most learned are as ignorant in regard to them as the most ignorant of their fathers. So it is in regard to the inhabitants of the sun. Do you think it is inhabited? I rather think it is. Do you think there is any life there? No question of it; it was not made in vain. It was made to give light to those who dwell upon it, and to other planets; and so will this earth when it is celestialized". Brigham Young, July 24, 1870, Journal of Discourses 13:271.
"Astronomers and philosophers have, from time almost immemorial until very recently, asserted that the moon was uninhabited, that it had no atmosphere, etc. But recent discoveries, through the means of powerful telescopes, have given scientists a doubt or two upon the old theory. Nearly all the great discoveries of men in the last half century have, in one way or another, either directly or indirectly, contributed to prove Joseph Smith to be a Prophet. As far back as 1837, I know that he said the moon was inhabited by men and women the same as this earth, and that they lived to a greater age than we do -- that they live generally to near the age of a 1000 years. He described the men as averaging near six feet in height, and dressing quite uniformly in something near the Quaker style. In my patriarchal blessing, given by the father of Joseph the Prophet, in Kirtland, 1837, I was told that I should preach the gospel before I was 21 years of age; that I should preach the gospel to the inhabitants upon the islands of the sea, and -- to the inhabitants of the moon, even the planet you can now behold with your eyes." Jesus said "come follow me." If we do not have his DNA, his invitation would be like a cruel boy taunting his handicapped friend to go for a run. Why would he do that? That is the hope of Mormonism' that we can run the race alongside our brother, Jesus. The same as Paul taught in Hebrews, "for both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren." Heb. 2:11. Your refusal to believe this fundamental doctrine proves God's statement to the boy Joseph Smith "that those professors were all corrupt; that they draw near to me with their lips,, but their hearts are far from me, they teach for doctrines the commandments of men, having a form of godliness, but they deny the power thereof..". The word of God is all you need.
The Jesus of the Bible was God in the flesh. John 1:1, 14
2 Nephi 11:7:“For if there be no Christ there be no God; and if there be no God we are not, for there could have been no creation. But there is a God, and he is Christ, and he cometh in the fulness of his own time.”
This verse states two things: 1) That Christ is God and 2) That Christ is our Creator. Jesus is not our elder brother because He is our Creator.
2 Nephi 31:21 which reads: “….And now, behold, this is the doctrine of Christ, and the only and true doctrine of the Father and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, which is one God, without end. Amen.”
Alma 11:38-39 Now Zeezrom saith again unto him: Is the Son of God the very Eternal Father?
      39 And Amulek said unto him: Yea, he is the very Eternal Father of heaven and of earth, and all things which in them are; he is the beginning and the end, the first and the last;
Mosiah 16:15 Teach them that redemption cometh through Christ the Lord, who is the very Eternal Father. Amen.
Why don’t you believe in the Trinity since it is taught in the Book of Mormon, which Joseph Smith said is the most correct book on the face of the earth?

Our first article of faith states, "We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost." We believe these three members of the Godhead to be separate individual beings united in their love for the people of this world. That God the Father, sacrificed his only begotten son in the flesh (Jesus) to provide for the redemption of fallen mankind. As he did at the baptism of Jesus, the Holy Ghost communicates the Father's pleasure with us when we choose to do something he has commanded. I guess I do not understand your question about the "trinity." That is not a scriptural concept, so I can't really answer your loaded question about why I do not believe in the Trinity, but I would be happy to discuss the concept with you.

    • @fayelewis5476

Those verses in the book of Mormon indicate that Joseph Smith at least at one time believed that there was only one God and that Jesus Christ was God. Later Joseph Smith believed they were three separate Gods. Joseph Smith became a polytheist.
      The trinity simply states:
      1. There is one God.
      2. There are three persons in the godhead. Father, Son, Holy Spirit.
      3. Each person is divine.
The concept is based on the word of God, of course. There are verses in the Bible that support these things.
Mormonism is very similar to Arianism in the way they view Jesus Christ.

If you believe in ANY magical, super-natural, ever-lasting, immortal, all-powerful, all-knowing, all-seeing, creator-of-all-that is being...you have deep problems that root in mankind's inability to deal with the fact that there is nothing beyond this life...it simply ends when your heart stops beating. Ego is mankind's very worst flaw.

+dale pratt If you can make a blanket statement without answering the obvious philosophical and logical questions about origins of the universe, isn't it slightly ignorant?
Christianity agrees that ego is man's greatest flaw. The man who believes he can make the rules and has no need for God. It's a thinking that we're born into and cultivated in. Which is why one must be born again. We are by nature at enmity with God in our way of thinking

    • @Daledavispratt
      @Daledavispratt 8 лет назад +1

I can't explain the origins of the universe, science can't, YOU can't, either. All any of us can do is guess at it. Just because it can't be explained to anyone's satisfaction (except yours, of course) doesn't mean I'm going to invent a god who "poofed" it all into being. If it works for you, that's beautiful. Ego itself is, in my opinion, the very reason any god was invented. Humans simply can't deal with the fact that once the body dies...it's over. Those of us who have come to grips with that have better things to do with our minds and lives than worship some invisible entity that never was. I live my life honestly, abide by the laws of the land, and help those in need if I can. Any goodness in me comes from me. Spare me the lessons on your faith, I once believed until I actually read history and a lot of archaeological documentations and it truly opened my eyes. Please place the "ignorant" implication on yourself, not me.

As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, I would like to testify that Jesus is the Christ. He is our only way to be saved. He is our savior and our redeemer.. It is only by His atoning blood that our sins can be washed and forgiven. He is Jesus of the Old Testament and of the New Testament. He is the same Jesus that you all believe that we also believes... Our Church was named after His name because the teachings thereof are centered with His teachings and example. We as latter day saints, do not encourage to disrespect nor descriminate any belief of our fellow followers of Christ. Try to research in any of our materials if we care to destroy others belief or doctrinal fundamentals of other Church just to convince others to join our faith.. We as latter day Saints do not believe also that it is only by our good deeds that we can save.. Try to watch our recent General conference videos and tell me, if our current leaders do not teaches Us to Love Christ... We do respect your belief, and as far as my personal view is concerned, i do not believe that only the members of Church can be saved nor only the members can be saved either. I believe that only God can tell us all wether we are saved or not according to our personal relationship that we develop while we are here on earth.. This life is nothing but a testing ground wether we choose to come back to His presence or not. I believe that we are Children of our Father in Heaven, and He lives and He loves Us, and He wants us all to come back to His presence that's why He sent His only begotten Son, Jesus to save us all and make known the Father to Us... there's no room for contention nor destroying each others religion because we are all praising the same God... I wanted to extend my love and respect for all of you...

This is does not show that " mormonisn" is false. Really, the lds church does mot believe that Jesus at first was not a God that is not true. Just read Genesis chapter one, Also The gospel of John chapter one. Verses one, two, and three. Also mormons believe on a different Jesus, I have never read about a different Jesus or God. What a way a twisting Pres. Hinckley's words. I have read about the same Jesus and God found in the Bible, the Book of Mormon , the Doctrine and Covenants and the Pearl of Great . Expected more. God works through his imperfect children. The main fountain of truth is him. If you ask with a Sincere heart and true Intent you shall know. Otherwise your prayer will be in vain as if your did not pray.

No the LDS teach that Jesus was born a spirit child of Heavenly Father, just like us, just like Satan. That is a created being. Mormonism teaches that Jesus did not create anything, he only rearranged existing matter. Big difference from the Biblical Jesus who is God himself, Creator of all things. These doctrines are important, but Mormonism now wants to be as Christian as possible, so the differences aren't emphasized by the LDS.

JESUS PAID IT ALL! In Gethsemane He submitted to the will of the Father and began to take upon Himself the sins of all people.1 Nephi 11:33 Jesus was "was lifted up upon the cross and slain for the sins of the world."3 Nephi 27:14"My Father sent me that I might be lifted up upon the cross".
The wooden structure upon which Jesus Christ was crucified (Mark 15:20-26). Many in the world now think of the cross as ultimatley a symbol of Christ’s Crucifixion and atoning sacrifice; however, the Lord has established His own symbols for His Crucifixion and sacrifice-the bread and the water of the sacrament (Matt. 26:26-28; D&C 20:40, 75-79). In the scriptures, those who take up their cross are those who love Jesus Christ so much that they deny themselves ungodliness and every worldly lust and keep His commandments.

Yes, that is true that Christians should not be judging you as an individual. But for a Christian to accept your faith as a viable path to Heaven, contradicts the Christian religion. God says very clearly in His word (The Bible not The Book of Mormon) what it takes to get to Heaven. How can Mormons believe only parts of the Bible to be correct? You are right, it is God's decision...the question posed to a Mormon though would be, what God?

Hey! you no, the book of Mormon is not part of the Bible, unless you're Mormon, I've personally never heard a Mormon say it was.
If you study history, you will find there are THOUSANDS of Greek, Hebrew, and other "ancient" translations still preserved. So, I think none.

    • @heyyou8084
      @heyyou8084 9 лет назад

dustin freeman I study modern, ancient, medieval and prehistoric history. Also I just said the book of Mormon is not apart of the bible so what are you implying???? I have just said people have decided it should not b added because it may pose as a "threat" as many Christians (mostly catholics) believe. I'm trying to explain to you that all of the words that were put into the bible went from language to different language to different language- there would have been a few errors made in the translations. Everyone criticises Mormons on the fact that the book of Mormon contradicts man things said in the bible.... or does it??? if you have studied both the bible and the book of Mormon you would have realized that yes there are contradictions between the two books but there are many questions gone unanswered in the bible but found in the book of Mormon. You might also find that there are thousands of contradictions in the bible alone.

    • @dustinfreeman4021
      @dustinfreeman4021 9 лет назад

Hey! you did you not see where there are still thousands of Bibles in the original language? And then in the closest language to the original, there are thousands more preserved. The book of Mormon is man made, while the Bible is God's word. Also, read the Book "A Case For Christ". The author was an atheist that set out to disprove the Bible, he failed. He then converted. ;) Study what you want, but the missing element is faith

Jesus never referred to his followers as Christians. He referred to them as disciples. Mormons are disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ. WHO IS JESUS? Jesus Christ speaking: John 17:23 I in them and You in Me--that they may be perfectly united, so that the world may know that You sent Me and have loved them just as You have loved Me. We absolutely believe that Jesus Christ is literally the Son of God. We believe that He was the God of the Old Testament. Under the direction of the Father, He created/ organized the earth. He spoke to the Old Testament prophets such as Noah, Abraham and Moses. He was born to the virgin Mary in Bethlehem. He walked among the people of Palestine, working many mighty miracles. He made the great atoning sacrifice on the cross at Calvary as he suffered and died for our sins. He rose from the grave and ascended to Heaven to stand on the right hand of the Father. We believe in the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. Matthew 3:16-17 (See Also Luke 3:22) "And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased." This speaks of a GODHEAD. Latter-day Saints Do Not Accept the Creeds of Post-New Testament Christianity because scholars have long acknowledged that the view of God held by the earliest Christians changed dramatically over the course of centuries. www.jefflindsay.com/LDSFAQ/oneness.shtml

      @fayelewis5476 6 лет назад

You forgot to mention that your Mormon Jesus was the brother of Lucifer.
The Bible has not changed over the course of centuries. Look at the Dead Sea Scrolls.
      39 And Amulek said unto him: Yea, he is the very Eternal Father of heaven and of earth, and all things which in them are; he is the beginning and the end, the first and the last;
Mosiah 16:15 Teach them that redemption cometh through Christ the Lord, who is the very Eternal Father. Amen.
Why don’t you believe in the Trinity since it is taught in the Book of Mormon, which Joseph Smith said is the most correct book on the face of the earth?

Where does it say Jesus Christ was the God of the Old Testament?
Your Mormon jesus was the spirit brother of Lucifer and not the Jesus of the Bible, who claimed to be God.
“Latter-day Saints believe that angels are men and women, human beings, sons and daughters of God, personages of the same type as we are. Parley P. Pratt, an early apostle, wrote, ‘Gods, angels and men are all of one species, one race, one great family.’ Elder Bruce R. McConkie, a more recent apostle, wrote, ‘These messengers, agents, angels of the Almighty, are chosen from among his offspring and are themselves pressing forward along the course of progression and salvation, all in their respective spheres.” (BYU Professor Robert L. Millet, The Mormon Faith: Understanding Restored Christianity, p.39)
Joseph Smith said God was once a man.
I am going to tell you how God came to be God. We have imagined and supposed that God was God from all eternity. I will refute that idea, and take away the veil, so that you may see. … It is the first principle of the Gospel to know for a certainty the character of God and to know...that he was once a man like us.... (“King Follett Discourse,” Journal of Discourses 6:3-4, also in Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, 345-346, and History of the Church, vol. 6, 305-307, emphasis added)
Mormon prophets have continuously taught the sublime truth that God the Eternal Father was once a mortal man who passed through a school of earth life similar that through which we are now passing (The Gospel Through the Ages, 1945, p 104).
Claiming God was once a man is called blasphemy. The God of the Bible is a spirit. Joseph Smith worshiped a god that was once a man. This is called idolatry, something the Bible commands us not to do.
Acts 17:24 “The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands. 25 And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything. Rather, he himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else.
The God of the Bible created all things. The God of the Bible did not create himself. He lives outside of time, space and matter. He is self-existent and does not depend on anyone or anything for His existence.
Perhaps you do not believe in what the Mormons teach. If so, that is great because much of what they teach has no basis in Scripture. I am not anti-Mormon. I just would like you to believe the truth.
The Bible tells us that there is no salvation in any church. Salvation is found only in Jesus Christ.

Critics ignore the Biblical references that imply that Satan is one of the "sons of God." (See Job:16, Job 2:1) The Bible tells us that Jesus was "the Only Begotten"-only He, of all God's children, had a physical inheritance in His body from God the Father. All other mortals have two mortal parents, and Satan and his followers never receive physical bodies at all. (See John 1:14, John 3:16, John 14:3, Jacob 4:11, Alma 12:33-34).

06:14 .... Oh Sandra, why did you say that God and Jesus are not separate beings??????
Yes they are as one, yes Jesus said the He is in the Father and the Father is in Him.
But NO, they are NOT one singular being.
They are TWO!!!! God is Spirit and Jesus is glorified flesh.... TWO beings!!! The Holy Spirit is the third of the Godhead.
Jesus sits at the right hand of God.
Jesus was God's only begotten Son.
Jesus came to the earth to do His Father's will.
Jesus prayed to the Father in Heaven.
Jesus left us and sent the Holy Spirit.
They are as one but they are not one being!!!!!
Stephen even witnessed the Lord sitting at the right hand of God, just before he died.
When Jesus and God appeared before Joseph, Jesus was at the left hand of God. What does that tell you!!
You completely missed the false message being given in the first vision...
NO MAN HAS SEEN GOD AND LIVED!! Yet Joseph Smith claims that he did.
Why would God appear with Jesus only to tell Joseph to listen to Jesus???
That is the deception here, not the fact that God appeared as two beings.
Joseph Smith was not holier than any other person that he should be able to see God.
Joseph Smith has made himself like a god (or rather he raised himself to god status) in order that he would be able claim that he could see God.
Those that speak of walking and talking with God, face to face, in the Old Testament, were possibly speaking to Jesus. Yes, Jesus is God as the Book of John states that the Word WAS God.
But Joseph Smith claims that God the Father ALSO appeared in his vision.
But then after saying all of that......... one could completely throw that argument out the window and say "It was only a VISION!!" as opposed to being a VISITATION.
So thus we have to ask ourselves, was this a VISION or a VISITATION!!
If it was merely a vision then maybe JS did see God and Jesus in this vision of his. But truely, as we all know, JS made up the whole thing. It was just a tall story. No vision, no gold plates, no angels.... just a lot of fables and plagiary.

Jehovah is the True Almighty God, creater of all Gods. The Only God that can destroy any God, without fear, of being destroyed. But were not Gods or Angels, We're created in Jehovahs image, we need sustenance to live, when were living forever... When were living forever, the more intelligent were going to get, the new things we learn in space, someone might get God like intelligence one day. and think they created everything, and try to rule. Its probably one the reasons why satan disobeyed. Were living in the truth. We need everlasting Space to support everlasting life. Thats why we'll never get attacked by intelligent aliens, they wouldnt be dumb, to risk there infinte intelligent lives, for our resources, when theres infinite resources in space. its why why he made our physical Universe infinite, so theres no need to fight.

GINOLJC, to all. there is only one God, which everyone agree on. but the problem lay in the distinction, or not, concerning the titles Father and the Son. well the Father is the Son in Flesh. meaning that there is no distinction between the two , but only numerically. and this is understood in the greek work G243 "Allos". which means in English "ANOTHER" of the SAME "sort. and sort means "NATURE". so Am I suggesting that there are two God?, no, not at all. but what I'm saying is this. God is a diversity, or the SHARE of himself in flesh and bone. meaning that he is the H259 "ECHAD", (ONE), of himself, as another in flesh and bone. and the Greek word G243 "Allos" expresses this numerically difference very clearly, cited source the Vine's Expository Dictionary of New Testament Words. this numerically difference of the same SORT, or this H259 "ECHAD", of ONE, is clearly stated in the scriptures, especially in the book of Philippians chapter 2 and verse 6. where the Greek word G3444 morphe, "FORM" gives us this definition of the numerically difference of the same SORT, which is what our Lord Jesus is. meaning being the H259 "ECHAD" of himself, or the equal "SHARE" of himself in flesh. the answer of the "SHARING" of Spirit, lay in the root of G3444 morphe, which is G3313 meros. cited source Mickelson's Enhanced Strong's Greek and Hebrew Dictionaries. and G3313 meros states a division, or *"SHARE"*. there is the answer to the Godhead as "ONE" person. God being the SHARE of himself, hence the numerically difference in persons, but the same one Person shared, NOT SEPERATE, nor a copy, but the "SHARE" of the same ONE PERSON, hence the H259 "ECHAD" of himself. same person only SHARED in flesh.
knowing this. it will answer the, "Greater than", question, it also answer the "Lord", and "LORD" question of Psalms 110, as well as God being an H430 elohiym of himself. and, as seen, it answers the "Father", and the "Son" question. so the apostle John is correct in saying, "My Lord, and my God". for JESUS is "Lord", in flesh, and God, which is Spirit..

+Jesus Defender, GINOLJC. this is the way I see it today. no one denomination or group or sect of believers are 100% correct in their doctrines or beliefs on various theological subjects, especially on the Godhead, and his way of LIFE. we all have been duped before. in Christianity, no, not all the doctrines are taught correctly. especially the trinity doctrine, neither the oneness, (as most teach it), or the Unitarians, neither the JW, as well as the mormons here, all fall short. as our brother Paul the apostle put it, Romans 3:12 "They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one". this is a true statement. calling the mormons un-saved by the JW or any other group is like the pot calling the kettle black. take note I'm a Christian myself, but I refuse to be lied to anymore. some of the doctrines and beliefs I use to hold I found out to be false, (so I was in the lost group and didn't know it). so I did what the bible, (God holy Word), say do. I followed the Spirit instead of men, and let him, (GOD), teach me, and researched out what he taught me. don't get me wrong, God the eternal Spirit used men and women to feed his flock. but be a berean, see if what is taught is correct and true. so this is where I stand today, in judging one another, listen, Romans 14:13 "Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother's way". so what do this scripture means?. teach what God have taught you and let the person, search it out for themselves. for the word of God is sharper than a two edge sword, it will do its work. so this is what I do. if one speak the truth, the sword will cut, it will hit home, and the person will search out what you have said, and repent. I only challenge the person to see for themselves if it's true or not. I cannot make anyone believe, it's up to them. arguing, is useless, and I base that on this scripture, Revelation 22:11 "He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still".which bring me right back to Romans 14:13 when discussing the bible with any group. I suggest you re-read this post for clarity in what I have sid.
      be blessed in Christ

Well apparently that’s not good enough. The very differences that saw an assortment of Protestants murder one another shortly after the outset of the Reformation - (an abdominal institution according to some who you apparently believe “agree” with your “God is God” theory - I might add) continues to cause schisms hundreds of years thereafter. Oh some may agree on this or that doctrine, but to suggest the masses share in some unifying factor is, well, quite honestly - BS.

There is only one God, as in God the Father. He is alpha and omega.
Jesus is also God, the Word of God who "was God" as in the Gospel of John.
Jesus and the Father are as one, but they are not one being as many false Christians believe.
There is God the Father, God the Son/Jesus and the Holy Spirit of God.
If they were all ONE BEING then:
      - how could God send His son?
      - who was Jesus praying to in Heaven?
      - why would Jesus give all the glory to the Father and say that He was not good but that no one is good but the Father??
      - how could Jesus leave and send the Holy Spirit??????
      - how could it be possible for Jesus to sit at the right hand of God.
So many religious Christians believe that God the Father came down to earth as the Son in the flesh, that Jesus prayed to himself and that God, as Jesus, returned as the Holy Spirit....... LOL.....
      God = Spirit
Jesus = Spirit with glorified flesh
      Holy Spirit = spirit
Both Mormons and religious Christians need to study the bible!!!!

Ya, I’m more than aware of liberal views expressed by the Jesus friend movement and their need to separate contemporary exaggerations of sola fide from their ugly fundamentalist past. However, there’s little chance of escaping the historical views that have murdered and enslaved so many. Beyond that, while you suggest the notion of salvation is contingent simply on faith in the Constantinian god, other “Christians" do not share your conclusion. Some place their chips on predestination, others on baptism, and some on works, etc… Hence the reality of an ever-growing gap rather than a unified belief and practice.

Biblical Christians verses Mormons. Neither are to be found in the New Testament. Both were created by the early Catholic Church. Each have to change a lot of verses to match the Biblical description of members of The Way. Buy my book and get the rest of the story.

Biblical Christians are not to be found in the New Testament??????
Do you even realise what you just said?
Biblical Christianity was created by the Catholic church??????? ROFLMAO
Jesus brought us the Gospel. His followers started referring to themselves as Christians or followers of the Christ.
Catholics had nothing to do with it!!!
      Roman Catholics started RELIGION!!!!!
God created man >>> man created religion
      Religious people follow religion.
      Christians follow Jesus.

Actually The LDS church teaches us that participation is not what makes us mormons. What makes us mormon is our own relationship with god. All i have to say is you people are hypocrites! There are many contradictions evident in christianity. Mormons believe that we are saved through the mercy and power of Jesus christ.

Sage Peacock "Look at Mormon.org or the Mormon Channel on youtube for what we really believe."
Oh, I have and I know for a fact, 100%, that all mormons believe in and worship a false god. One that never existed and that Joseph Smith made up.
Please answer this....God said that He is the FIRST and the LAST and that there were no gods before Him, so why do you believe there was and is?

    • @1950countrygirl1
      @1950countrygirl1 9 лет назад +1

***** Because everything we believe is fair and has logic. Who put him in charge of us? What made Him our father in heaven? We believe he lives. And has lived before. He became our father in heaven because He went through trials just like we are doing right now. And He became perfect.
And it just makes perfect sense that we will become gods too. Because what else would we have to look forward to in the after life if we didn't have some stage of progression?
We believe that everyone has free agency. That no matter your religion or belief system you have a chance and a choice to live with god. We don't discriminate and are very accepting and encouraging of other religions.
We recently had our general conference where leaders of our church have spoken about a wide variety of subjects from forgiveness to service to coming unto God. If you want to learn about what we believe then I invite you to watch some of the videos on lds.org or contact your local church.

Sage Peacock..."Who put him in charge of us? What made Him our father in heaven?"
God said He is the FIRST and the LAST though. That apart from Him there is no god....That means that there was no god before Him.
"Because what else would we have to look forward to in the after life if we didn't have some stage of progression?"
What???....How about eternal life in heaven? And heaven will be greater than anything you can imagine.
President Brigham Young uttered this bold statement: “Joseph Smith holds the keys of this last dispensation, and is now engaged behind the vail in the great work of the last days. I can tell our beloved brother Christians … that no man or woman in this dispensation will ever enter into the celestial kingdom of God without the consent of Joseph Smith.
Jesus said that no one comes to the Father except through Him though....Mormons are taught another lie.

Listen, I hate the lies that are being spread about our church. I'm crying writing this. I've been scrolling through the comments and replying to TONS of them because they are lying and telling people not to listen to our church. He was saying that we believe that we are the ONLY right church, which is not true. Some other religions have LOST parts of truth that WE have! That doesn't mean that the other religions are WRONG! PLEASE DON'T LISTEN TO THE LIARS! IF THEY ARE NOT MEMBERS, THEN THEY ARE MOST LIKELY LYING. I'm sorry.
