    I have the same book.
While I'm often depressed, others usually don't hurt my ego, because when attacked I think, "those stupid silly neurotypicals". While that appears arrogant, I do tend to be right in most cases.
You can't value yourself based on how others see you.

My father was right advising me to keep working. Now at age 70 with much free time and blessed solitude, well, all my adaptive skills need re-honing to keep the edges sharp. I like your advise on slowing down and thinking about what your about to say. I have found myself finishing a long rant and from the bewildered look on peoples faces, I might have said anything other than I really intended. Think~~>judge the thought~~>approve it as appropriate and then talk. Less spontaneous it is, but better that than insulting. Thanks for your thoughts......

Have watched several of your videos and look forward to reading your books. You might be wise to enter a thearpy profession where empathetic people like yourself are greatly needed. Good work and people are listening but their acting comes later.

Ever hear of Central Auditory Processing Disorder (CAPD)? Very similar to Asperger as it's over-sensitivity but more to sound which causes hearing difficulties and as a end result causes social behavior problems. Seems that it would be something to rule out before diagnosing Asperger. The test for CAPD is done through an audiologist, and the test is considered objective. Knowing the difference can be helpful, you'll have a more accurate understanding of how to deal with this sensory input problems. (I tested positive for CAPD). Just another fact here. 1 in 20 to 1 in 30 children have CAPD, where as 1 in 250 to 1 in 5,000 children have Asperger.
