My Mom's cousin (American) married a Saudi in the 80s. They have 3 grown children now. And just a couple months ago in early 2024, my Aunts and Uncle's were able to travel and visit her for the 1st time ever in Jeddah, SA. She & her family visit the states often. The children all went to college in the US, but all live in SA. In fact my moms cousin met her Saudi husband while attending college in Texas!
I used to live and work in KSA (Riyadh and Jeddah) 17 years ago, it was way more strict than today but Jeddah was always a bit liberal compared to Riyadh. So long you don't break any rules and stay out of trouble, you'll be fine. I had great memories there, I've worked and met with a lot of amazing people both locals and other arabs from around the middle east. People were kind and generous. I am sure a lot of things has already changed. Would love to visit again.
There I little towns in the Southern United States that are like the Handmaid's Tale. These women know they are being oppressed, but some American women are so blinded by the cult religiosity that they don't realize they're victims.

What seems so ironic about these more traditional (I guess) patriarchal societies is just how thin-skinned and fragile the men can be. Having lived there for five years in Medina and Jeddah and visited Mekkah, Riyadh many times, and all the historical sites you've shown here makes me miss it all! This was not over critically negative, which has been in other pieces, but it shows fairly and must I say dareringly displays what really is going on over there under MBS. Having a Western education, it is difficult for me to understand how a father of girls can agree with the limitation of women's rights in the country in which he lives! I pray that Arab women have the right to design their lives as they wish to be happy Both men and women are human beings, I don't think that we men are more special than women and have more rights, if we cut a finger, red blood will flow from my wound as a man and from my wife's wound without distinction
As a Saudi Woman, I had better education and Job than my brothers! so don't worry. Oh and my Father (who is Saudi and grew up in a small poor village with no university education due to him having to work in a young age) is still paying for my living expenses even though i have a job with a salary that matches my male peers. There are bad people everywhere unfortunately, but most my female friends and relatives have similar experiences as me, some are even better.

at 35:18 he says that the mobile mosque is a way to force people to pray. Another lie from the producers. The mobile mosque just adds the possibility of prayer for people who want to do it but don't find the means . For example: Nobody is going force the presenter to pray if he doesn't want to when the mobile mosque is offered to people who want to pray. Deceiving the public is immoral and just reveals your agenda.
No need to have mobile as there are mosques everywhere including gas stations, in every neighborhood, underlying areas, restaurants, everywhere you go including malls. No need for mobile and prayer at home as well

There are errors and incorrect information in the report First, oil revenues do not go to the royal family, but go to the state treasury, just as the state’s expenditures depend on oil revenues. Why are you trying to change the truth? 2_ The young men who run to escape from the police in this movie have harmed the girls, and when anyone assaults the other, the security intervenes. Why are you trying to change the truth? 3_ What freedom are you looking for? In Saudi Arabia, we have the best freedom, and we live with dignity, and under the auspices of our government, we receive care that no other people on the face of the earth finds. While the freedom you are looking for is for us to reject our rulers, to be disobedient, and to be opposed to their rule. This is the freedom that you want to reach. 4_Why don't you picture Saudi Arabia from the inside with the truth in which we live in happiness, development, construction and a happy citizen?
'We have freedom'. Who is we? There are people who are happy in KSA and people who are not. I suppose that most women have rejected their chance to drive a car for example? I don't know. In the Netherlands I don't know anyone who is opposed to women driving. Not even the Wahabis. Allahu Alem.

Such an indepth documentary. Loved seeing the core of the people from all walks of life from within the country. The quality, length and details, boldness of interviewer, and personal touch from seeing him go through Mecca and Medina.. I think one of the women there raised a great highlight of appreciating and being excited for seeing the country grow, develop, transitions. Outsiders are often quick to criticise how great or well it is doing, but its also important to recognize and appreciate how far its progressed. There will always be rooms for improvement everywhere, but not diminishing the progression and growth from how far its come is important. I think its more fair to judge it according to each country's own history and scale, versus according to the standards of those who are worlds apart from it. It can easily distract from appreciating the growth & progression standards over time.

What a lovely, vivacious young woman is Farah. I do wish her every success, that her spirit is not crushed.
why would it be crushed?
I used to live and work in KSA (Riyadh and Jeddah) 17 years ago, it was way more strict than today but Jeddah was always a bit liberal compared to Riyadh. So long you don't break any rules and stay out of trouble, you'll be fine. I had great memories there, I've worked and met with a lot of amazing people both locals and other arabs from around the middle east. People were kind and generous. I am sure a lot of things has already changed. Would love to visit again.

Excuse me, but there are mistranslations from the Arabic language. That is unprofessional and biased. Saudi society is not perfect, but its not right to twist people's words. Very wrong! Any native Arabic speaker can confirm this.😒

at 35:18 he says that the mobile mosque is a way to force people to pray.

There are errors and incorrect information in the report
First, oil revenues do not go to the royal family, but go to the state treasury, just as the state’s expenditures depend on oil revenues.
You live in a country that oppresses women and all they strict rules are for women.
let me try to guess… you’re a man?
@elfeverlasting4632 Let me guess, you're a women not from Saudi Arabia?

People good...Monarchy EVIL 😈
