Vanessa, I made these when you first added this video. I cut out a single one and blew it up for a demonstration at the end of September. This is our semi-annual guild show. I'm sending everyone to your channel. i hope i do a decent job explaining. Your videos are awesome. I will definitely send people to your channel. Thank you!
it seems easy now, but learning paper piecing was a challenge on previous projects so I'm not sure I"d tell people it is easy. Maybe say it is a beginner project or something. I'm lucky I"d watched other video's and a craftsy class on foundation paper piecing. thanks for your spirit and fun to follow projects. I'm a fan. also thanks for the pdf hearts
Quick, Easy and Precise! It's doesn't get better than this!! I think I am going to make it to put on my door for Valentine's Day. Thank You for another great project, Vanessa!
I'm so sorry I misunderstood your directions. I have never done paper piecing before and somehow missed your instructions to the T as you explained them. Please forgive me and continue to teach myself and others in your fine art of tutorials. I have learned so much from you from way back when I 1st discovered your tutorials even before your link up with MSQC. I learned so much from your square UPS on several blocks with finding the common size of all blocks for squaring up. Again thank you for all your help.Jeri
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I have been wanting to try paper piecing but hadn't been brave enough to try. I decided to give it a go after watching this and WooHoo! I did it!! Thanks again, I love learning new techniques!!
This is the second tutorial I have watched of yours and love the instruction you offer. I was also a sucker and ordered everything I needed for your awesome mug rugs!! This will be my first paper piece project :D
Thank you for this! Perfect timing, I can try it during the 3 day weekend:) I'm saving it to my favorites because of the clear explanation of paper piecing.
Oh, I wish I had seen this yesterday. I started w/my first paper piecing project. Got so frustrated...I gave up. I'll pick it up again and try (probably a couple of times ;) ) Your instructions are clear & precise.
I see a good place for Scotchguard. I'm a sloppy drinker, so that white would be a mess, otherwise. This is SO CUTE! LOVE it! Thanks for another cute idea.
Great paper piecing instructions! Just a heads up...The downloaded pdf looks different from the one on your video, there are no spaces between the outer gray lines. When I print out the pdf pattern at 100% the hearts finish at 3 1/2", (4" with the 1/4" seam allowances), so the sashing strips need to be 4" long and the border strips need to be 15" long. Love your videos!
I’m not very good at quilt binding. Maybe do this with something like a self binding? How would I do that? This is too cute not to attempt. Thank you very much for the free pdf!
I made it and love the concept of paper piecing. I am looking for Shamrock pattern with rounded leaves. I have not found one where else might I look? I made my own pattern and now it is off to my sewing world and see what I can do. This is all new to me so I am not sure what I am doing Thanks for all your great ideas I love them. Small projects are best for learning with.
2 comments to think about for mug rugs... 1st. I love it. Love it, Love it! I'm a hearts kinda girl. 2nd. If you're a klutz, like me, or have kids around... "white" is not a good choice. Maybe off-white or light pink or some sort of water-proofing would be a good recommendation? I see the same thing on many X-mas mug rugs they are so pretty but they are not practical for lasting memories. If you want them used and you want them reusable, a little change would go a long way.
I think you skipped over one of the numbered areas when going for the 2nd part of the heart, was this done by design? I've never PPs'd before so I'm not sure if everything should be sewn in numerical order or not. Or maybe I misheard the directions? But after seeing this I sure want to learn PPing.Jeri
+Jeri Niksich you definitely want to go in number order with this one. When I teach my tutorials, I build step-outs so that it goes a little faster. So I may skip over some of the steps to move on to the next crucial step. Sorry for the confusion!
+Callie Tomlinson Vanessa uses the Katherine when she films Crafty Gemini Creates tutorials in Hamilton at Missouri Star Quilt Co. It's a great machine! :)
the pdf prints up the pattern with the lighter lines connecting, not like what you showed...so I can not cut a little on the outside of the lighter line....fyi
I am confused. This is nothing new. I'll have to watch this a few more times and then try it. I'm quite sure the confusion will disappear eventually and I'll be a pro at paper piecing.
Fun, easy paper piecing practice!!
Thanks ! This is so cute !

This is awesome also just a quick question where to buy affordable and good quality fat quarters ..I need to make this in hot pink colour
A great way to pierce the paper is by using your dart wheel.
+Liz Turney that is a great idea!
Where do you buy your elastic

what do you put in the corners, to finish it?
which babylock machine are you using? =)
+Susan Koike I use the Baby Lock Katherine on the set of Crafty Gemini Creates. :)
I'm having trouble lining up the white pieces. When I'm finished I have a gap between the large and small squares.
