Quite a good video, think TSR is easy to get sucked into negatively, and with the pandemic I think it’s a lot harder to focus on other things other than our application. Since in previous years people applying would have the distraction of exams, getting out with friends and actually having fun, whereas now when we’re stuck inside it’s infinitely harder to not focus on your application all the time
Thanks so much for watching! But yes completely agree, it is definitely much harder to focus on other things while in lockdown & not being able to socialise and talk it through with people face to face definitely doesn’t help! With TSR I think it can be very easy to get sucked into as you say. When I sent off my application in Dec I was obsessively checking the threads all the time, but ultimately it was just making me more stressed, so since the new year I’ve tried to train myself to not go on there so much & have a daily time limit - easier said than done I know, but I would really recommend trying it if you can! But the biggest thing I would say about TSR is it is extremely unrepresentative of the whole cohort of applicants, as only a small fraction actually use the website (and more often than not they tend to be high achieving students) so try not to take anything that happens on there to heart as it’s not always the best indicator of the bigger picture! Hope that makes sense :) xx
Great advice! I was in your exact same position this time last year: on a Gap Yea, reapplying to different universities, applied in early December, still waiting for my first choice uni. I got my first choice mid Feb. Good luck with you applications; I have my fingers crossed for you!! (Totally agree about TSR!!)
Thanks so much!! I’m also waiting on LSE so it’s really nice to hear what kind of timeframe your offer came through! Hoping it won’t be too much longer of a wait now to hear if I have a place or not!! xx
Ah such a good video! Waiting to hear back from unis can be so stressful so it’s good to know a couple of ideas to calm you down and distract yourself while you wait.
Thanks so much for this! I've only heard back from one uni so far and it turns out I can't even go there anymore ahaha (getting to the campus from where I live is just impossible) so hearing this advice really helped!! :)
I’m so glad it was helpful! It can be really tough waiting for uni offers! That’s such a shame that you can’t go to the uni you have an offer from, but hopefully your other choices will get back to you soon - keeping my fingers crossed for you!! What subject/unis did you apply for? :) xx
@@evarussell6734 they sound like great choices! I was actually enrolled to start at Bath in September but ended up taking a gap year super last minute haha so if you have any questions about the uni feel free to DM me @caitzannie on Instagram and I’d be more than happy to answer them :) xx
Yes, I've applied for Occupation Therapy. I'm hoping to get a place in Cardiff uni. I've had a few interviews but the wait is painful as you know haha. Do you have a first choice?x
