    How much hours in general you study per week ? Between class and homework??

    • @CaitzAnnie
      @CaitzAnnie 10 месяцев назад

      it depends on your modules and how easy/hard you find the topics, as well as what you choose to prioritise. in general, we have around 5-6 hours a week of classes and lectures per module, so around 20 hours of teaching time in total. then personally i would study around 8-10 hours a week per module on top of this, so 30-40 hours of independent study. however, i would say this is probably on the upper end! many people follow a similar study schedule, but many others also work their way through with much less time commitment. it completely depends on how you work best, and what routine works for you.

    Hi Caitlin, I’m in year 12 starting UCAS and personal statement. I am applying to LSE maths & econ too - do you have any tips for me to standout please? I’m looking to read up some maths related models like Leontief / Cobb Douglas functions and some regression models etc., but was your ps more maths-based or econ based?

    • @ayeka_e29
      @ayeka_e29 Год назад

      It shouldnt be more maths or more econ based as i think it should be 50/50 split :) good luck!

    • @CaitzAnnie
      @CaitzAnnie Год назад

      Hi! Thanks so much for your message. I personally think the best way to approach applying for a joint degree is to write a personal statement that addresses the intersection between the two subjects. I think this shows a more sophisticated and deeper level of thinking, as opposed to just splitting it 50/50 with two topics that have no clear link to each other. So I chose to discuss areas of economics that relied heavily on mathematical/statistical techniques and then reflected on how these methods are used to tackle societal issues, as that is what I am passionate about. Your suggestion of reading up on those models is another perfect example of this, so I would definitely say go for it! You don’t need to have a perfect balance, as long as you can show sufficient interest and passion for both. I think with LSE it’s important to link what you’re talking about to real world examples and case studies, as this is definitely something they’re big on, and it also allows you to further personalise your PS by selecting case studies that you find interesting. In addition to academics, a great way to stand out to LSE admissions is to find ways that your extracurricular activities can link back to the passions/goals you’re highlighting in your personal statement, and especially if you can find examples of things you’ve done that have had a demonstrable positive impact on society. I hope that helps! Let me know if I can help further, and I’m more than happy to read over your draft once completed if that would help too!

    Do not study in the UK if you want to find a job after graduation. UK's education do not prepare you for jobs. It is focused on theory. There is very lack of practical applications at universities. Higher education is very expensive too. I do not believe that the education you receive at UK university equips you even the basic skills required by industries. You just waste your time there. Go to USA. There will be more opportunities after graduation. In USA, companies do not look for 5 years experience right after graduation. They will teach you that while you work there. No one can become a experienced person without job offer. In USA, if you do Masters then most companies will automatically assume you as 2 years experienced engineer. That's very good system. Unfortunately, UK and EU is out of blue. They expect everyone to be born as 10 years experience. Ridiculuos.

    Hi, I'm a current Imperial maths applicant and I'm a bit nervous about receiving an offer after sitting the MAT this year. Please may you say what MAT score from 2019 got you a STEP offer? They don't make it very clear what a "borderline" mat score is on their website.

    • @CaitzAnnie
      @CaitzAnnie Год назад

      Hi, I don’t remember the exact MAT score I got, but I believe it was somewhere around 40! I really struggled with the MAT and was worried about how this would affect imperial, but honestly I think they don’t specify a borderline score because it depends on how the rest of your cohort perform. They are able to see the distribution of MAT scores, so if the average in your cohort is say 70, a score of 40 is unlikely to give you an offer. Having said that, I think if you prepared well for the MAT and gave it a decent attempt, as well as having a strong UCAS application, you stand a very good chance of getting an Imperial offer, be that with or without STEP. I hope that helps!!
