1. The Glass Beach. Decades ago, the beach was the down dump- but colorful sea glass now mixed with the sand and rocks remains. Here, the kids hunted for hermit crabs and collected shells.
2. The Skunk Train. After riding through the picturesque Pudding Creek Estuary, the train stops halfway so passengers can get out and stretch their legs on a hike about a mile long among towering redwoods.
3. Point Cabrillo Light Station
Time your visit to Point Cabrillo Light Station right and you might be lucky enough spot some whales. Every year, from December through March, pods of gray whales migrate past Point Cabrillo.
4. Rail Bikes on the Noyo
We took rail bikes on the historic Redwood Route. Once reserved for trains, today this scenic section of railroad track is best viewed from the comfort of custom-built, two-person railbikes.

Hendy Woods State Park is a not be missed natural oasis with 1,000 year old trees. Here, in the shade of 1250 foot plus tall redwood trees, we enjoyed a short hike in surreal surroundings.
