I'm convinced I'm friggin weird. This is just so satisfying watching this that I'm simply mesmerized by it all. Plus the fact you got to be one damn good shooter. I simply just admire your skill. 😅
No not weird at all, those that don't understand the necessity are the ones that are weird and they are taking over every frigging think. Channels like this are the last ties with being normal, feeling normal and acting normal.
Property owner is lucky to have you available or it would be game over for the poor chickens. Rat populations never go down on their own unless rampant disease takes over and then you have an even worse problem. Nice work, that air rifle is incredible.
Great shots through the meshing brother. Mate, I just can’t get over how many of the little bastards just kept on coming. Anyway, Thanks again for another great video.
I love how you do not go cheap on the ammo and double tap them when unsure of their death. Mercy kills are the right thing to do. These little bastards are such a pain, but they're smart.
Good to see that you got the speed loader sorted. Man that is a very target rich location. Love the thermal when the target just goes poof and there is evidence of impact everywhere.
I like watching your shooting because it is about as ethical as it is possible to be. I used to keep rats as pets. Individually they are surprisingly vulnerable and prone to all sorts of illnesses but their collective resilience is amazing. It is partly because they learn so fast, but mainly because they can breed so prolifically so young. If someone could develop a poison that stopped their reproduction capacity but didn’t make them feel sick they might not learn from it. Some chickens will kill and eat rats. It depends on the chook and its circumstances.
I wish I had this gear and skills. I bought my house 20 months ago and the rundown place next door had the squatters (referred to as the devils rejects, facial tatts & all) kicked out 4 months later. Then the rats came, dogs have no chance (Australian and french bulldogs) cause you cant vatch a ninja with a tank. Took up residence in my floors ceiling & classic 1986 Rx7 Turbo, trashed the interior, built a nest behind the drivers taillight. Interior was up for a refresh now it's up for a full rebuild.
Great job, seems difficult to aim between the wires of the mesh. I would be afraid, that a pellet might be deflected by the mesh and cause undesired havoc
As i was watching and saw that rats head sticking out the mesh hole , i shouted go on mate get that cocky little Ba*@#**d , the you slapped him with one 🤩. Great video as always 100% .
What is the doink noise that I am hearing on each shot. Sounds like it's hitting a thick glass bottle? I have a Gamo .177 single cock 1250FPS pellet rifle with a Bushnell Trophy 4-12x 40mm that works great on squirrels. Don't have that many rats to get rid of!!
Great shooting as always. I noticed that there were some pens to the left that seemed to be lined with 1cm snake mesh. Does that stop the rats or do they just get in anywhere?
Wow, This is looking good, getting rid off them nicely! and having a bit of practice/fun, lots gone down on vid, how long did the shooting actually take? was it really 10 mins?
Brilliant, non-poisonous active solution and you know how many you get. Also it has an instant effect, your not waiting to see if the numbers drop over a period of time, you can count the number taken out of the zone as you remove the bodies the next morning.
What kind of rats are those? Where I’m at, we have Norwegian rats (also called brown or sewer rats) and roof rats, I’m just curious what rats you have in Australia.
Great work as always Rod. Cannot believe how many rats were running riot through that chicken house. Hopefully your efforts reduced their numbers. Least you had a satisfying night.
Brilliant shooting mate. I do like the thermal scope, simply because of splatter rat effect, and seeing the pellet strike mark as the rat falls. Cheers from Texas.
This ought to start a new phrase: Like shooting rats in a chook pen. Great job mate. Undoubtedly great fun and very rewarding. Greetings from the UK. Stay safe.
Ha when you said you where heading out to deal with a rat infestation, I thought you must have been headed to Canberra Perfect shooting shot placement and euthanasia. It’s great to see someone that is in tune with their gun and shoots fast clean and controlled. Thanks for the videos
Yes. Some of them do. I have chooks at home and they are ferocious if they see a mouse. If any of our food scraps have meat in it they fight over it. 🤷♂️
She has some beautiful poultry there. It’s very hard to get an Isa Brown Rooster and what magnificent Landhans 🥇 no wonder she wanted you Rodney they are prized fowl 🏆Great video 🤗
@@RJMHuntingAustralia I once saw a massive rat flatten his body and squeeze through the very thin gap between the door and the floor, nothing can stop the buggers
Always funny when you are using a highly effective way of dealing with a problem and someone starts asking why you don't use a different method 😄
Haha. I know right. Drives me nuts. 🤦♂️
I'm convinced I'm friggin weird. This is just so satisfying watching this that I'm simply mesmerized by it all. Plus the fact you got to be one damn good shooter. I simply just admire your skill. 😅

@@RJMHuntingAustralia if you get your hands on a semiautomatic like the Leshey 2 those rats are really not going to like you 🍻👍
Absolutely 👌
What equipment do you use? Thanks
@Giacobbo88 it's all listed in the video description mate 👍
Great shooting. In my view, this culling is the most humane when it comes to getting rid of rat plague. Thanks for sharing it with the rest of us!😊😊😊
It's a great control method, especially when all else fails mate. 👊
We have had problems with rats in the chook pens, and you are right. They have learned not to take baits or traps. Great shooting.
Thanks Damien 👊
Great shots through the meshing brother. Mate, I just can’t get over how many of the little bastards just kept on coming. Anyway, Thanks again for another great video.
Thanks mate.
Great trigger time when there's that many about buddy. 👌

Turns the old adage of, Shooting fish in a barrel. To, Shooting Rats in a Henhouse. 🤣
@@PaulyDTheKiwi haha. Very true 👍
So satisfying watching you getting rid of these pests. Poor chickens having to put up with those rats night after night
Good job mate
Thanks mate.
Hopefully got them sorted out now.
The chickens are thinking their prayers to the chicken god are being answered!
Yeah maybe. 🤣
They are. ;p

i love how all the chickens dont even give a f lol they just chill there as u take care of the pests
The benefits of a stealthy rig.

Correct on all accounts mate. I don't care for rats but I wouldn't let any animal unnecessarily suffer.
Good to see that you got the speed loader sorted. Man that is a very target rich location. Love the thermal when the target just goes poof and there is evidence of impact everywhere.
Was out on them again last night. Brand new thermal scope with even clearer image. Will have the video up in a week or 2. 😎
And another one gone, another one gone, another one bites the dust. 😮😅
You brought back memories for me as my partner and myself would sing this song when the lurchers got a rabbit or hare 😁
Love your work Rod, definitely a thumbs up mate.👍😎

Geez... that is an inordinate amount of effort to protect just a few (though very precious) chickens.

Some of those rats looked darned big. Fantastic shooting and not as easy as some would think.
Was a bit tricky but I do like a challenge 😅

Excellent video and shooting as always - thanks
My pleasure mate 👍
Great work as always Rod. Cannot believe how many rats were running riot through that chicken house. Hopefully your efforts reduced their numbers. Least you had a satisfying night.

Do you leave the dead rats as feed for the chickens??
They generally get collected by the property owner the following morning
I know it's a weird question but do the chickens eat the dead rats?
Yes. Some of them do.

Man that looks fun. The buggers will eat each other now so will give the chooks a rest for a week or so 😂
