Thank you so much for making this video. I wasted two hours trying to follow the company video and directions. I’ve done it before but I forgot what a pain in the ass it was. Your trick on just cracking the master bleeder plug to get the last bubbles out worked like a champ. I zip tied the handle down and hung a barbell off the foot brake. The lever and the foot brake are hard as a rock now.

Thanks I enjoyed this. An alternative perspective…I have one on my 300 and love it (my favorite accessory). Allows you to set the rear brake pedal to be perfect when seated and the brake lever on the bars perfect for when standing. Allows me to charge down hills standing with tons of confidence and modulating brake pressure on both wheels. Never had to bleed it in a few years and performance has not deteriorated in probably 50 hours. I know I should change the fluid and have on the front brake. But the secret to maintaining performance is to replace the rear brake pads early, before they compress. Pads are cheap and easier to change than bleeding this system.

Hey! Just used the torques trick!
My left hand brake worked perfectly when I started South Dakota. Needed to bleed it when I got home.
    You nailed it! Awesome!

I’m a double amputee and I need to have it to stop. I’m also looking for a new way to shift. It’s a xr70r and I bought an 110cc with semi automatic and 4 gears. I bought a heel toe shifter like on an old school Honda 90. I bought an adjustable heel toe shifter and a 15” hand shifter. I know it won’t work but was $12. I don’t want to make it into a disc brake if I don’t have to. I did buy an ext. triangle shaped aluminum swing arm so I can make it work maybe. I’d be happy with the original drum brake. I bought the 1998 xr70r in 2002 to make a pit bike when the fad started up. I know the original pit bikes were around since the 50’s and 60’s. Please help me get this to work. Loosing my legs is hard enough and I really need to finish it. Thanks brother

My girlfriend got the new rekluse and the reservoir is really big, kind of hard to get it under the clutch though. First ride after a shop installed it they already sponged out and in need of reverse bleeding

That is my problem with those things. They always seem to be like that. The longest I have had them last is a few months

The purpose of the handlebar brake is for balance, not to slow the bike down. It's obviously to small to be an effective brake. You dont ride trials, I'm guessing?

No. I would like to learn but just not ready for the investment yet.

Can you manage to lock the wheel while riding, using only the handbrake? I can`t, even tho I bleed it several times using your technik. The disc and brakepads are brand new-

you got it bleed in no time, nice.
I'll keep pulling our LHRBs off bikes we sell, and put them on new KTMs until they change the rear master cylinder. Bleeding usually takes me 3 times to get the lever 80% of what I'd like it to be. On slab at 20mph, if I'm standing I can lock up the rear tire with a 2 finger HARD pull, I wish it was easier. If I'm sitting, rear tire is hard to lock up.
The OX, does it have more braking power vs the Rekluse? I've seen a cable version and a trick self contained hydro unit(looks trouble free!!!!!!!!!!!).

    • @highlandcycles
      @highlandcycles  4 года назад

The Ox doesn’t have quite the power when the Rekluse one is perfect but as you have said, the rekluse one is rarely perfect. The Ox never fails. It’s a cable operated one with a little extension on the brake pedal.
The one I did in the video will lock up the tire even sitting down but it will only last until enough pad is gone.

Off topic, but my rekluse rattles at idle. Sounds like a standard clutch with worn out cushions. Any thoughts?

    • @highlandcycles

Daniel Fishman what bike, how many hours? It could just be worn out cushions or plates that are rattling in the basket.
