Hey im from thailand and the 17 (เจ) that you see it’s come from chinese language which is jay, it’s quite similar with vegan but some smelly vegetable is not allow in jay ex, garlic but vegan can eat all vegetable so vegan can eat all jay staff and actually thai tea and lactasoy band added most sugat but they have some with low sugar those are so delicious and vegan festival in thailand will be in every October around nine days but don’t strict with the date you can observe thai calender and have เทศกาลกินเจ on the date number and also 7-11 have very delicious frozen food especially for khow pad kra pao🌶. And if you go to Phuket at that period most of them will wear white clothes and all side of main road will cover with vegan food that have yellow triangle flag around their street food shop.
In addition to the inexpensive "Rice with Tofu" in the frozen section (39 baht) - they have a vegan soup in the chilled cooler that is loaded with mushrooms (30 baht). They also have a variety of packaged rices that you can easily mix with the soup. It's easy to have a great vegan meal at 7/11 in Thailand for less than 100 baht.
the first time I arrived in Bangkok I lived off 711 for a week! The best thing they have there imo is in the freezer section.. it's (tofu) sized frozen meals.. they have noodle and veg ones and even one with noodle and a variety of vegan meats. I ate those a lot :)

But if one expects to find vegetarian/vegan/WFPB street food - I dare say you will starve here - as even if you ask them to omit the visible meat, the broth/stock and sauces all incorporate all sorts of animal and oil-based substances. Very true. Here in Thailand there is a vegetarian festival that lasts for just over a week. And during that time a lot of the Buddhists eat vegan during that time frame but not necessarily the rest of the time. I've certainly had a bit of trouble finding vegan food in more remote areas.

For the next time you’re in Thailand, at larger food courts, look out for Chinese-style “vegetarian” stalls which offer an array of dishes served with white or red rice - essentially vegan, no meat, dairy, eggs, alliums. Avoid the dishes that are "mock meats" which are made of gluten or soy. The Thai word for vegan is this, which looks like an open jaw about to chow down on a baguette "เจ" . Not sure if this link on Google Translate will work here translate.google.com/#th/en/%E0%B9%80%E0%B8%88 An APROXIMATE pronounciation is “jae” but the consonant itself doesn’t exist in English - it’s somewhere between a soft “j” and “ch”. You’re likely to be met with blank stares anyway so best to show the word in Thai.

While they can indeed leave out the larger pieces of meat, almost ALL of the broth and sauces incorporate animal substances, and these are all common to all the dishes and are made in advance. In China, as in Thailand, vegan or While food plant-based dishes are simply not a common occurrence - and the cultural norm is to increasingly incorporate more and more meat into the diet.
Lots of RUclipsrs in general are in Thailand. It's beautiful, cheap and has great wifi. That's a winning combo for many people who work online. But that said, I travel around a lot but always like to come back to Thailand.

The other plain one which is not low sugar is a bit weird, but the low sugar one is really nice - more of a rich, vanilla flavour. I tried the Boran coconut cream and sticky rice/black bean icecream! I am Thai. For your kind info. That Taro brand snack is made from Dried fish meat and flour. It is notTaro root vegetable. There is surely no Vegan symbol on it. The Chinese style letters on package may confuse you.

Yup, try the refined processed 'vegan' junk food! But hey, you can find processed/refined sugar, salt, fat/oil and chemical laden animal product free junk food - anything but whole food plant based - Oreos, potato chips and Coke in 7-11 as well! LMAO!

Taro is similar to potato but different family, it has natural steroids in it, so if your a natural body builder, or you just want to be big and solid taro is for you. If you look at the original Hawaiians that is why they are all huge.

I cannot miss so much taste! And the seafood comes supplied by small fisher-boats, people just make a good job here to survive! Are they evil?!

Hey, are you sure that the products containing margarine are vegan? Margarine often contains milk derivatives or animal fat, especially here in Asia🤔
It's always good to double check. the Jay symbol that looks like the "17" is a good guide when in doubt. Those for sure shouldn't have milk.
