Ah the 90's, when every problem could be solved by using Power Armor. Is a character crippled? *POWER ARMOR!* Need a design for a potential toy? *POWER ARMOR!* Revamping a character? *POWER ARMOR!* Walking the dog? *POWER ARMOR!* Toilet's clogged? *POWER ARMOR!* Need all of your crops planted by the end of the day? *POWER FARMER!* Need to spruce up the bedroom? *FLOWER ARMOIRE!*
Can I just take a moment to say thank you for never changing the intro to back issues. I love that old timey piano and tha black and white filter. Overall, I just really enjoy the content you guys put out. Keep up the good work.
Erynys is a weird 90's spelling of Erinyes, the Greek representation of vengeance, and since Elecktra is Greek they thought it would be clever. I'll let you be the judge.
I love Back Issues so much! You guys got me into the old batman animated series with your Mad Love episode. Keep up the great work! I watch every episode of this.
I'm rewatching this after a huge DD splurge (favorite hero), and I picked up Fall From Grace in this huge box of plastic-sleeved comics and had a hard time, as Sal pointed out with the unnecessarily convulted plot and art. Thanks for the simplification, ComicPOP!
Hey guys great episode, I know I’m a few years late. I’ve been going through back issues and I read This story before watching the video and now I regret it, your video is way better than me reading the story. I’ve been trying to read a few of these before watching the back issues of them, I shouldn’t have done it for this one lol
I had a few ratty used issues of this Daredevil mini event when i was a teen in 2000 ( I had gotten from a friend ) funny enough this was my 1st intro to Daredevil in the comics back then . ( the 2nd was his appearance on the 90s spider-man the animated series and the 3rd was watching the trial of the incredible hulk ) anyways back then i really got into the art of scott mcdaniel . ( i remember it influenced me as an artist much later on ) . i like the armor design by mcdaniel ( and his art style ) anyways it basically got me a lot more interested in the character and led me to want to read the Frank Miller stories in trades later on in 2008 / 2009 . but i really liked the Venom Guest starring along with morbius ( mostly because at the time i was re-watching reruns of spider-man the animated series at the time ( so that was one hook that got me interested in reading this DD event in trade later ) I liked Hellspawn design by McDaniel . I like the page layouts , the stark inking . the coloring ( the works ) anyways it all left a impression on my as an artist today when working on my own web comic
I watched this with my Matt Murdock and now he is hooked on PCP. Thanks Comic Pop, now I have to sort this out. Have you ever seen a blind super sensed ninja on PCP? Its a mess.
Biomimetic or biomimicry is a certain field of engineering where biology helps to solve complex problems. A example for that would be bionics, where the goal is to build complex prostetics by rebuilding it like the original limbs (meaning not a plastic tube with a hook, but with muscles, skeleton, etc). Maybe a better example is the rope that copies the structure of spider silk making a stronger and more flexible rope. If that suit is any way biomimetic, it is obviously not the direct copy of something (like bat wings or a turtle shell). It could be on a molecular level copying the structure of certain biological materials. (I was a biology student, thats why I know)
Hey comicpop, love your videos and i was just wondering if you were thinking of explaining any of the dc crisis's aswell as identity crisis as they are all confusing so your explanation could probably help a lot of people.
Daredevil is the most consistently well written Marvel Character in my opinion, but there's always going to be shithouses like Fall from Grace. I can't wait till you guys do Born Again.
Shutty Year old comment, but whatever. I was actually just thinking that myself. Sure, he's not as high-profile as Spidey and the like, so you're not gonna hear about his bad stuff as often, but still. Miller's run is often praised, I hear really good things about Bendis' run, Waid's is pretty fun, and I'm willing to bet the current stuff by Charles Soule is good too. No Clone Sagas here.
+Exilestate Comics Just rewatched it again and a question is now stuck in my head. Why didn't DD use the new suit material to make a new normal looking DD suit? Take the metal off the shoulders and change it to all red and boom you're done. Random thoughts!
7 years later.....The Snakeroot was yet another offshoot of The Hand. Also, I think the armour should have been kept as a back-up for situations he made it for. DD had a few of these types of convoluted story lines about this time. As for Jack Battlin, "......you're Matt Murdock" "No, I'm his twin brother."
Going to throw this out here, but in Catholicism one can be absolved of their sins simply by going to a priest and confessing them. One must be Earnest in their desire to be forgiven, but as long as they seek forgiveness they receive forgiveness. So, if Matt Murdock absolved her of her sins because he's religious, she could get the same thing from any Catholic priest. I mean if the real thing is getting into heaven, not to get into a religious argument, but that would probably do it.
Am I wrong or doesn't Daredevil have a minor (that is nowhere close to Deadpool or Wolverine level) Healing factor by way of ki harnessing and meditation? Not that itll help him in the middle of a fight, but like he can repair in a day or two what a normal person would take in a few weeks and such?
+Ian Laue Yeah Sal says that at one point when I complain that I thought he had a minor healing factor. Might have got cut, I haven't watched the episode yet
Ah, the joys of editing. I know you guys self correct a lot so I did watch the whole thing before I made the comment, but Im pretty sure that wasn't in there. Pretty sure "healing factors" are among the most popular secondary superpowers (for obvious reasons). If memory serves even Hawkman and Spiderman have one even though that has no real tie in with the rest of their power set. And thanks for the response, I figure there was enough collective comics knowledge you guys wouldnt have been ignorant of that point.
+Ian Laue he doesn't have healing powers. Meditation helps him feel well enough to carry on while injured and what would take two weeks for someone else might take him 10-11 days. Not really a power of any kind. Before Born Again he beats the crap out of someone and lays low for a while because his hands are damaged
I've read a good amount of DD up to Fall of Grace, and I had a question for you. In Fall of Grace, DD combines his escrima into a staff and kicks ass with his cool staff. Any chance this is related (publication-wise, not in-universe) to Nightwing and Gambit with their cool staves? Alongside jackets, pouches, and giant guns, could bo staves be an unsung trope of the 90's?
Absolutely love the show guys, although I wanted to give some constructive criticism. I notice that every once in a while Sal will miss a detail in a story he explains (completely understandable btw) and it might be critical to said story so maybe you should think about having a short skim over the story to refresh your memory a little before filming. Either way keep up the good work!
I means he's literally just Pete's clone. I really just consider them the same char just out in diff scenarios. The whole clone drama is the main selling point but honestly when he was spidey I loved that back to basics youthful spidey
Love the daredevil for mayor thing, daredevil @ 50 trade had him married to the mayor of San Francisco, totally lost on what was going on there but that tangent made me think about that short section of that...
You can't really go wrong with the Frank Miller run. He started drawing the title at issue 158 but didn't become the writer until issue 167 I believe when Elektra was introduced. Basically, from issue 167-190 is the era that most fans say defined the character.
+Ognjen Seatovic Yeah we've all read it so the BackIssues format doesn't really work. Maybe we'll do a ComicLine or something else about it some day, idk. It's a great book
Does anybody want to see a John Romita Jr doco, and talk about how he and Claremont trashed without pity the once-great Uncanny X-Men were trashed without mercy, halfway thru #175 and onwards. A great pity I gave up this once-great title. I had a mate from high school let me borrow the JRJR issues, and how Marvel published only the positive responses. That, Mr. Stan Lee, and piss off the almost criminal acts of Propaganda. I really loved the Paul Smith issues, and the Japan storyline. I kept trying to tell myself that "this will be over, soon"...just like those doomed teens were in Pasolini's Salo 120 Days of Sodom were forced to eat shit for those Nazi-Italian overlords. No, really.
+William Shillinglaw anything with Frank Miller behind script and art also if you looking for something more modern, Mark Waid just finished 4 year run on ol' horn head. Better then any other Marvel series in my opinion
I know it doesn't matter and all... but my best friend (google) says that biomimetics are a real thing! So there's that. But this is still the worst Daredevil story I've ever heard.
"God doesn't care about the X-men because they are just filthy mutants." Almost died laughing.
Same here
Same
Ah the 90's, when every problem could be solved by using Power Armor. Making a Post Apocalyptic RPG, and don't know what to put on the title screen? *T-51B* *POWER* *ARMOR!*
I've been seeing your comments everywhere how do I stop seeing them? *POWER ARMOR!!*
Watching 4 years later.... Matt Murdock was mayor for a stint... Currently Kingpin hahahaha Sal predicts a lot of things pretty close
"Cuz they're filthy mutants!" lol awesome moment.
Can I just take a moment to say thank you for never changing the intro to back issues. I love that old timey piano and tha black and white filter. Overall, I just really enjoy the content you guys put out. Keep up the good work.
+christopher freire Thanks man! We love our Masterpiece Theatre intro, too!
that intro is amazing with a capital AMAZING
Great video as ever guys! I'm a huge Daredevil fan.. but that doesn't mean I'm going to defend this book.
Dude you are everywhere!!
Erynys is a weird 90's spelling of Erinyes, the Greek representation of vengeance, and since Elecktra is Greek they thought it would be clever. I'll let you be the judge.
The fact, you start laughing, before you say "God doesn't love filthy Mutants." I lost my shit.
"Why is she white" "Because shes pure" -Sal 2015 xD
Please make 2 back issues a week! Please!!!!
Hey guys great episode, I know I’m a few years late. I’ve been going through back issues and I read This story before watching the video and now I regret it, your video is way better than me reading the story. I’ve been trying to read a few of these before watching the back issues of them, I shouldn’t have done it for this one lol
@ 3:38, it worked, though, Sal. You're in the comic book industry now!
Suit actually looks pretty decent imo
I don't think I've ever seen Ben so angry about a book. Haha.
I had a few ratty used issues of this Daredevil mini event when i was a teen in 2000 ( I had gotten from a friend ) funny enough this was my 1st intro to Daredevil in the comics back then . FYI, the Erinyes are the Furies, of Greek mythology, as seen in the myths of Orestes (whose sister was named Elektra) and Oedipus.
I watched this with my Matt Murdock and now he is hooked on PCP. Thanks Comic Pop, now I have to sort this out. Have you ever seen a blind super sensed ninja on PCP? Its a mess.
The cover art for these comics were great. Those were my first Daredevil comics.

Any plans on doing Born Again, especially in light of the direction S3 of DD may be taking.
shit man I've seen this video 3 times and I've only just realized the cat hanging around in the background ...nice
Love this. more people should be watching you guys. keep it up
+mike sillitoe Thank you, Mike!
At 6:43 when Sal says Venom does appear, the cat pops up from behind like Venom cause it's a black cat. Like it was planned
Now I have to go back and watch that....
Hey comicpop, love your videos and i was just wondering if you were thinking of explaining any of the dc crisis's aswell as identity crisis as they are all confusing so your explanation could probably help a lot of people.
Sup I'm here to ruin your day.
*lights a cigarette*
Yay! A new Back Issues!
I think the only one who fell from grace was the writer
Daredevil is the most consistently well written Marvel Character in my opinion, but there's always going to be shithouses like Fall from Grace. I can't wait till you guys do Born Again.

Great episode of Backissues. Thanks for doing Daredevil. I have the Fall from Grace poster on my wall lol
+Exilestate Comics Just rewatched it again and a question is now stuck in my head. Why didn't DD use the new suit material to make a new normal looking DD suit? Take the metal off the shoulders and change it to all red and boom you're done. Random thoughts!
You guys gotta do some of Miller's DD!
7 years later.....The Snakeroot was yet another offshoot of The Hand. Also, I think the armour should have been kept as a back-up for situations he made it for.
DD had a few of these types of convoluted story lines about this time.

I heard that little Easter egg! Daredevil: Born Again back issues confirmed
6:41 CAAAT!! is his name Venom?!
that cat scared the shit out of me
Can you please do The Blackest Night or The Brightest Day on Back Issues? Please, please, please!!! 😀😀😀
There's a God but he doesn't care about Filthy mutants hahaha bout choked on my beer. Loved yalls reaction! 16:00
The art in the series was... no. to describe such chaos you need non human vocal chords.
Scott McDaniel is one of those artists who could draw gorgeous covers and pinups but wasn’t good at storytelling.
Going to throw this out here, but in Catholicism one can be absolved of their sins simply by going to a priest and confessing them. Have you thought of putting episodes of back issues on ITunes like the weekly pull?
We need that to happen
Another nice video guys!!!!!! Keep it up!!!!!!!!
Am I wrong or doesn't Daredevil have a minor (that is nowhere close to Deadpool or Wolverine level) Healing factor by way of ki harnessing and meditation? Not that itll help him in the middle of a fight, but like he can repair in a day or two what a normal person would take in a few weeks and such?

probably all over the comments already, but Murdock did run for mayor it was during the Bendis issues and it was preety fun
At least its not Shadowland.
Absolutely love the show guys, although I wanted to give some constructive criticism. I notice that every once in a while Sal will miss a detail in a story he explains (completely understandable btw) and it might be critical to said story so maybe you should think about having a short skim over the story to refresh your memory a little before filming. Please do minimum carnage
I miss those old tech school commercials.
Congrats on over 20,000 subscribers!!!
I'm so distracted by that cat behind Ethan's head
2:35 It happened again! First with Batman WOJAR, now with DD#600, Back Issues is getting robbed of it's ideas!
Hey comicpop I picked up the new Mockingbird One shot and enjoyed it so much so i think you should do an off the rack on
"Put Matt... put Daredevil in PCP." Ben you're the best jajajajaja
thank you.
I love Ben riely aka scarlet Spider he in my opinion is one of my all time favorite heroes
I means he's literally just Pete's clone. I really just consider them the same char just out in diff scenarios. The whole clone drama is the main selling point but honestly when he was spidey I loved that back to basics youthful spidey
@@michaellabonte6390 fair enough
*2:09*
*Welcome to the failed State of “Chaz”/“Chop”.*
Daredevil clearly has augmented strength
"Clearly."
"Biomemetic" just sounds like a pop Sci term for anything related to overpopulation
Hello comicpop. I love your videos, but do you intend to cover any of the noir comics from marvel?
+mateus cordeiro pereira At least Spider-Man Noir Vol. 1
+ComicPOP! YEES
And i just noticed the thumbnail its amazing lol just not caring at all
everyone should like this video just because of the cat hanging out behind ethans head lol
He should've changed his name to Max Power
You guys have to do shadowlands!!!! Read it the other day and was like WTGDF all the way through!
Love the daredevil for mayor thing, daredevil @ 50 trade had him married to the mayor of San Francisco, totally lost on what was going on there but that tangent made me think about that short section of that...
30:50 Yep. Pretty much.
I really want to collect more daredevil stories, any recommendations? All i recognize at the store was yellow and born again as good stories lol
+TheOlympian1995 I personally liked Shadowland. It shows Daredevil as the villain. It was a good read IMO.
+TheOlympian1995 Daredevil: Born Again by Frank Miller. It's an epic story arc with great action and writing.
You can't really go wrong with the Frank Miller run. He started drawing the title at issue 158 but didn't become the writer until issue 167 I believe when Elektra was introduced. Basically, from issue 167-190 is the era that most fans say defined the character.
+Grievousish yea i collected a couple issues when it ran but i was getting all confused because i had the tie in issues like spiderman and ghost rider
+JimboJoe oh dude i was so tempted to buy it but ended up not sure and just went with hellblazer volume 1
You guys should do shadow land but just cover Spider-Man's parts lol
Hey, on the 100th episode of back issues will you do Final Crisis ?
OMG that has to happen
30:54 lol 😂
Meme(tic) culture is real in the Daredevil universe.
Do a Lazarus comic episode!!! :)
Can you do grant morrisons run on JLA featuring the hyperclan storyline?
Obviously the boys from red dwarf read this an that’s where the luck virus came from
Can you guys do Shadowland
DO THE WATCHMEN GUYS PLEASE
It's a great book
COME ON!!!
Havent they said that they wouldn't do it because Ethan and Ben have both already read it?
+24Gamer7 Really? I did not know that thank you
+Ognjen Seatovic Yeah we've all read it so the BackIssues format doesn't really work. Maybe we'll do a ComicLine or something else about it some day, idk. It's a great book
The costume does look cool. Oh well.
Y'all got one for tree of knowledge?
You can bash a storyline without bashing the character.
What is you guy's favorite super heroes and stories?
Does anybody want to see a John Romita Jr doco, and talk about how he and Claremont trashed without pity the once-great Uncanny X-Men were trashed without mercy, halfway thru #175 and onwards. Demon Pinocchio became a real boy and then got fatally stabbed?
After daredevil on Netflix I am starting to read daredevil what should I read?
+William Shillinglaw It contains some spoilers, watch out
daredevil: born again. if you liked the tv series you will love this
+William Shillinglaw anything with Frank Miller behind script and art
also if you looking for something more modern, Mark Waid just finished 4 year run
on ol' horn head. Better then any other Marvel series in my opinion
thanks
shadowland is always a must read for newcomers! they love it.
i love it when u guys start by saying THIS BOOK IS HORRIBLE LMAO
This seems very complicated lol
I know it doesn't matter and all... but my best friend (google) says that biomimetics are a real thing!
So there's that.
But this is still the worst Daredevil story I've ever heard.
whats with that cat
We do not talk about shadowland.........because it's shit really really really shit
What a nothing story!
