Having a way to ping for 1 with cheap artifacts/creatures is really helpful to either put them on even life total to die or put yourself on odd to live. Knowing when to press the button sometimes the hardest part of a Hidetsugu deck
Never say never when it comes to winning with a deck because for awhile there were plenty of decks people said had no chance that ended up doing so! I like the theme, I like what you are doing with it, and I think with some games played and some fine tuning it could be a real sleeper hit for tournament play.

Really sweet deck idea! Between the cEDH mana package and red rituals, this seems like it could get lethal quite fast. I really like the Blood Moon effects for slowing the game down for you to pop off, and Smoke is a spicy include, too! I've tried brewing cEDH but my lists never get focused enough to make the cut. I do have some cards that came to my mind that you might consider, but are by no means necessary for this deck: - [Curse of Opulence] is a great turn 1 play that can easily net you some extra mana off your opponents and also your own hasty goblins - [Thousand-Year-Elixir] is a "haste" enabler that also allows you to untap Hidetsugu for another activation. Perhaps not as good as Umbral since it doesn't serve as an infinite mana outlet, but mayber worth considering. - [Arena of Glory] is a stellar haste-enabling land in mono-red! The opportunity cost is low, and can even give up to two creatures haste, if you need it. - Tutors are hard to come by in red, but [Gamble] and [Reckless Impulse] are pretty good for smoothing out your early game and make it the plan more consistent. - [Vandalblast] is less good than it used to be, but it has a special place in my heart. It's especially good against cEDH's fast mana, albeit a tad expensive to cast. It also pairs great with [Liquimetal Torque] to destroy any permanent! - [Godo, Bandit Warlord] is a cEDH commander of old, but might slot well as an extra win condition since you are already running [Helm of the Host] and a rituals.
If you give the headtless hidestugu life link, any damage he deals including not combat damage will gain you that much lice. So if he does 20 to each player, you gain 80 back. But if you're ahead, you will gain hundreds of life every time you tap him
Have you considered something like Mob Rule for a one off threaten effect? It also acts as an additional untap effect for your commander as it untaps everything of the mode you choose.
I'll say that an optimized Heartless deck like this would fly at most "Power level 7" tables. It's something that gets better every couple of sets, this was pretty sweet the first time around many years ago. Cool to see your take on it, hope you enjoy it.
notes: 1:be warned about the weird damage rules when dealing with multiple damage doublers/efects that change damage values for some reson the person taking the damage gets to choose how they stack not you 2: solphim is the easyest way to kill with heartless asuming there on an evan life since odd life means they survive 3: keep in mind dark sphere says rounded down and heartless says "rounded up" witch well intracts weirdly 4: keep in mind any token made from the nuka cola + manaphator combo is tapped because nuka cola makes tapped tresures witch makes tapped food and tapped clues, still works with clan but you get infnate draw and infinate tapped treasures and tapped food so you would only get infinate draw and not infinate life (i dont know why it works this way it jsut dose) hope this helps
hi there! Im aware of the fact that the defender picks the effect order. thats why im using doubleing or tripleing effects. so that would not matter. And with dark sphere. damage would be decleared. what ever it wold be. then as a response to damage being declared, a player can react and tap it before damage inflicts. that means that what ever the original damage was calculated to, dark sphere would then half that. also both dark sphere and hidetsugu says rounded down. Good tip about the nuka cola combo tho. but you do also get infinete colorless mana floating. and next turn you have infinate everything. i guess a Paradox Engine could also help out aswell.

Consider both Glacial Chasm and Witch's Clinics as additional ways to not die to Hidetsugu's ability in the land slot
This is why I love red decks, they can get so out of hand so fast. Also may have to steal thi build I've wanted to build Hidetsgu for a while 😅
old red cards designed for different formats can be hidden gems in commander for sure haha!
