Have seen a lot trail videos, but this one would be one of few favourites. Background music blends nicely with captured views and leaves a feeling like being the second person in the story. No words needed to feel the atmosphere. And loved those "still moments" to capture runners or locals. It's not your typical "RUclips runners" video, it's more like documentary
Love the combination of the music, the clips of people just looking at the camera as themselves and the raw nature of the shots; they're a really nice contrast and show how the experience feels.
Thanks you for this beautiful immersion of what ultra trail is : slow pace , beautiful landscapes, silence, introspection and keep Moving, always. Fred, finisher 21.
Glad you enjoyed it! That is just what I feel too when racing such distances and in such environments, blessed to have such experiences and congrats on your finish too!!
Great to finally see the culmination of your training. Another great film showcasing your talents as a documentary filmmaker. The shots of amazing scenery and raw effort don’t need any words. They speak for themselves.
Thank you for the kind words. It really was an ode to the years prep to get there and what a beautiful location to see what the body is capable of eh. Really glad you enjoyed it.
This is tremendous, thanks for sharing. Watched it this Sunday evening with a very large glass of Sauvignon blanc, 13 weeks into a bad ankle break on the trails. It’s really made me even more impatient to get back on my feet and back out there! As others have said, great production.
Awesome. I run CCC in 3 days. That will help a lot.just for people who will attend, just mention of the name of Checkpoints would have been a +. Thanks a lot for the good job
Love this! ❤️ Running CCC this year and can’t wait! Ohh, and I’ve met a girl from 31:31 in our local race, nice to see some face I know in your video 😁
All the best! Fingers crossed for nice weather and it's a small world the trail and ultra community. We passed each other a few times through the night and in to the morning as we finished, she seemed like a happy lady!
This video is fantastic! Really amazing work. I ran CCC in 2023 as well and this video really captures the spectacular beauty of not only the day, but also the essence of such an incredible experience. Thank you!
Congratulations!! We were blessed with great weather eh. Thanks so much for the kind words and I am glad you could relive it, even in a small way, through the film.
Beautiful video that depicts very well the overall experience and views on this awesome race course!... Looks like you passed me near the top of Tete de la Tronche! :D... Thank you for putting this together!!!! Hope to see you out there this year!!!
What an amazing film! Really impressed that you managed to both race and film at the same time! Well done! And thank you for showing what the whole experience is like. This is exactly what I need to see as I prep for CCC later this year. On the one hand, the trails are exciting and absolutely breathtaking, but at the same time, really worried that I won’t make it before the cutoff time. My goal is simply to complete the race safe and sound. Still have lots of training to work on. Cheers!
@@KelpandFern One thing I want to confirm if you don’t mind. I heard CCC doesn’t offers mid-race drop bag service anymore, which means runners can no longer change clothes, gear, etc at one of the aid stations if they don’t have a crew. Is that correct? Thx
@@macau.friend That is correct, last year I had no drop bag, and because I did not have crew to support me, whatever i carried with me is all I had for the entirety of the race.
First race I nearly DNFed. Either nutrition issue or altitude about 1am on top of a mountain i was very ill. Had a very bad 3-4 hours but luckily had plenty of time, walked to the next CP and then knew i'd be ok. Hope you enjoy the short-film.
Glad you enjoyed it! I use the Olympus E-M5.3 which is a micro four thirds system camera, much smaller mirrorless setup than full frame and it has features that benefit this type of photography/video work and i'll be making a video about how I run with this setup in the coming weeks.
Wow, this is a beautiful video! I also run ultras and have been trying to video document my journey (just a beginner though). If you don't mind sharing little bit of your magic: what setting are you using for your action camera? Is it 4K with 30fps? I use GoPro Max and usually shoot in 4K 24fps and can't get footage anywhere near yours...Would love any other advise. Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it! I don't use action cameras, I run with a mirror less camera system and an all in one lens that does wide and telephoto. I have another video showing how I carry my camera on trail runs which has more info.
THanks for watching and glad you enjoyed it! I use a LowAlpine Liteflite 5L bumbag which is a small mountain/fell running style bumbag and works really well!
We hit singletrack after being funnelled from a much wider trail and it's only 2km in to the race. I started in wave two, so we're catching up to the slower of wave 1 and then we get bottlenecked and then we can only go as fast as those in front of us.
TMB is a beautiful trail but UTMB have far too many runners in their races; stopping to queue to start a climb and big long chains of people up the mountains is not my idea of trail running.

Proof that life isn’t fair. You are deserving for many more views based on quality and effort. Beautiful job.
Wow, thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!
It was a pleasure watching this. Thank you for taking the time to film this during the race. Loved the shots and the music selection.
So happy that you enjoyed it and my pleasure! Really appreciate the support, means a lot.
What a beautiful and meditative film. Great achievement to capture this while covering the entire distance inside the time limit.
Glad you enjoyed it John! Just about, a few minutes to spare.

Glad you enjoyed it and so sorry to hear about your injury. You will be back!
Thank you for sharing! Now I have an idea what's awaiting me. Hope the trail is going to be as beautiful as when you ran it.
No problem, hope the race went well for you!?
Magnifique 👍👍👍👍
Thank you man! i am the guy at 7:32. Great video and hope to see you in the 24 race again! i am gonna to do the UTMB category this year.
Was lovely to meet you, did you finish the race? All the best with UTMB later this year.
@@KelpandFern yup! i did, thanks!
Really top production. As others have commented, it is nice to just hear the sounds of the race without the commentary.
Thanks for watching and super glad you enjoyed it too.
Magnifique thank you for this video.
My pleasure!
One of the best experiences to watch and so glad you managed to get through your 1am block.
Thanks for the kind words, yeh was a tough night but got through it.

I love this! Thank you!
fantastic film!
Many thanks!
Very nice footage 👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you very much!
very good footage
Thank you.
Thanks for this. Absolutely loved every minute of the adventure. Great to get an 'inside' look at the course and mountains too.
Glad you enjoyed it dude.

Who thought Ronan Keating could be so profound.... You say it best, when you say nothing atall 😂👌
hahaha thanks for that one and thanks for watching.
Wonderful❤

Hey mate, was just chatting to Alex about our respective runs, looking forward to watching your perspective!
Thanks for the comment! I just saw you have a video, i'll give it a watch!
@@KelpandFern thank you! I recall chatting to you early on in the race, stoked you managed to get yourself to Chamonix!

@@KelpandFern for me it was a combination of altitude and dehydration, some big lessons learnt. Looking forward to it!
Some good take aways, see you on the trail some time!
Awesome! However, I think there's a typo, the UTMB is slightly over 100 miles. Not 100 kilometers (KM)
Wonderful!
What camera did you mostly use to film this?

Was it good!? :D
what's the catch with the waiting lines? trying to understand, about 5 mins in the video
