My favorite song by Billie. I love this version but you would’ve gotten the bigger picture if you saw the video version. She is singing to herself in a mirror throughout the whole video. It’s all about her relationship with herself.

Didn’t realise how cathartic it would be listening to someone, especially a psychotherapist, look into songs and talk about the meaning of their lyrics. I feel like I’m indirectly being given great advice that if I actually use will make life a little better. I’ve been having the worst day today and this has been really great. I wish I lived in the US so I could have you as a therapist! Anyway great content as usual and thank you for doing what you’re doing! 💚

This song really does hit home...as I'm sure it does for a lot of people. I keep thinking how sometimes you just wish you could break up with yourself.
It also makes me think of Pink's song "Don't Let Me Get Me" which is very relatable in this aspect, also.

Billie came on to my radar a couple years ago and her music is extremely therapeutic 😌 has helped me many a night find inner peace from ptsd symptoms.

Love your reactions. I don't know if anyone has mentioned it, but I think her history with dancing is important to this song. Billie grew up as a dancer and it was everything to her but a hip injury ended her dancing career. Billie has talked about that putting her in a really dark place. If you have seen her documentary you'll see she still struggles a lot with her physical injuries. I think this song definitely includes a reference to that struggle and the frustration of not being able to do what she loved because her body just won't let her. It's amazing to see how see has grown and evolved since this came out.

absolutely have to recommend either get out alive or gone forever by three days grace. written by their lead singer while he was in rehab, and written about his addiction
Great reaction Tom. You may not know this but this song and the one before this one on the EP, called COPYCAT, deal with self and identity. Both were one song that they later split into two. The first deals with others infringing on your social self and this song is about not being satisfied with your self. To me both songs raise thee question, Why do we cling to our self even when we know it's a clunker?

Much of the meaning behind this would have been slightly more clear if you had watched the music video, not this live show. you know how Billie is with her symbolism. Even with you missing a choice word now and then, you still would have fully gotten it i think. She sings the whole song looking at herself in a mirror :). incidentally, Billie has subtitles for all of her songs, so if you sometimes miss things, might be a good idea to turn them on for her and people like NF, etc. especially as a first listen and hearing the words for the first time. so you don't have to find a lyric video for her songs. the official music video has the lyrics if you turn captions on.
