- How not to do roofing. The customer was charged £4800 for this. Fortunately they didn't pay anything up front and work was stopped and roofer was sacked shortly after this was exposed.
Been roofing for 50 yrs those gaps are quite normal for those tiles even with correct batten spacings they only need to be a 10 mm difference in some of them to get this.rain will not get in .
Pay more and get a proper roofer ffs stop being tight it’s your home
Amen brother!💪
I did, found him on checkatrade with 5 star reviews...
@@teddywix3223 Those tiles look heavy and how would any frame be able to carry the weight?
How do you know how much he paid?
@@trankt54155 your joking right?
There are heavier tiles than this in the market.
you dont nail them and those gaps are pretty normal but yes admittedly it is a terrible job
Those tiles are a pig to work with but that is a terrible job.
The ridge is admittedly bad. The rest of it though is not dissimilar to my pan tile roof. The gaps at the corners of the tiles is normal apparently, but there are also gaps at the sides of the tiles on mine. This is probably due to the replacement of broken tiles over the years with others that aren’t quite the same. It’s very difficult to get a good match for these old pan tiles. The only way to solve it properly is a re-roof. Good luck with finding someone willing and competent to do that !
Oid pan tile that's how they go
Why u had pans on bad desioson
Wow 🤠
Nightmare tiles to lay! Rough as toast is this though!!
I always thought you get what you pay for. Not in this case! I went with Hy-Grade roofing even though they were by far the most expensive quote I received. Worst decision I could have made. They promised to install the roof in 4-6 weeks, of course they were late. When they finally showed up without the proper equipment and they damaged my property. Sad part is that my poor wife found the damage after coming home from her frontline COVID job. Broke my heart to see how upset she was when she saw the damage! SHAME ON HY-GRADE! They are really proud of the “Quality Audit” that they do, but of course they won’t give you a copy of the audit…lol BTW - the “Quality Audit” they did at my house consisted of 2 guys coming over to pick up the leftover junk they left at my house for a month. They never even went up on the roof! Horrible customer service experience! Save your money use someone else!
Where is that? There's a company called hy-grade close to me
It’s a weeks work at most for real roofing gang
Frontline Covid job.🤣🤣🤣
What’s wrong with it ? Lol.
I think the wavey lines of tiles goin up the roof really give it some character 🤣🤣
who did that stevey wonder love the ridging😂😂😂
3 world products and labour what u expect
Tell me your a customer from hell without telling me your a customer from hell…
Jeez some of the stuff this chap is moaning about get a grip, admittedly some of the work is poor but not everything
Unless you know pantiles steer clear, lathing gauge is everything, where to put the short course if needed? do strike with a chalk line-red ochre line every two tiles on the perps, dont buy in and mix and match if possible, and make sure your not shit with a trowl and mortar!
Ya no a cowboys been on roof when they can't install a bonding gutter and just slap a mix on n gobbo it up!🤣 He never stuck the membrane down on dry ridge!😲
Probably tried to keep it tight to hold his ridges up 😂
@@GTez90 🤣
OMG that is horrendous!
Those real tiles if placed properly should last centuries from water and wind elements....provided there is no penetration of the roof (i.e. no visible sunlight or holes).....
Its a old pantile roof there are more than twenty different types of these tiles. Second hand tiles equals second hand roof.must admit the workmanship is bad
2nd hand titles are better than brand new , reclaimed tiles have had the test of time where as brand new usually have some bad tiles in the bunch
These are fucking nightmare to make a good job of but yeah bad job anyway but you do get those gaps no matter what sometimes as its different tiles like you said
@@lewishunt5615 agreed these would be a nightmare to put back as salvaged tiles.
They would have changed shape slightly due to being on a roof for so many years I’d say.
I think I’d have passed on this job had I been busy.
@@lewishunt5615 I agree I’m a roof tiler and pan tiles are tricky
Asking for problems with those tiles
Well at least their consistent, it's all looks like s##t 🤪
The tiles really dont matter i mean they did terrible on the application all that matters is the if the dry in under it is right
That roof looks 50 years old....!
good job this one
If I may ask, are these REAL tiles (that were cooked in a kiln from clay to several thousand degrees like the Romans did 2K years ago)? Because if they are they should last centuries. However, in North America most of the tiles are made out of poured concrete mix or cement mix from a mold and thus you would be lucky if they last you 30-40 years the most...thanks for any reply you care to leave..
these are definitely clay not concrete rood tiles.
Yes they are clay for sure, concrete tiles if laid correctly can last 80 tears
My mum's house has concrete tiles that are 70 years old
I found the roofer on checkatrade and he has loads of good reviews, his quote was not cheap but his portfolio was very good... so dont ever trust checkatrade
Most of the Net reviewers are garbage and have been done by the same people who advertised. In North America when you do a search the FIRST thing that comes on is Angie List and it is junk. They have convicts and druggies that would take people for a ride....
Have they used old tiles as well?
Nothing wrong with reusing tiles if there installed right
That's what happens when you employ a cold caller
Nope, checkatrade 5 star review company...
@@teddywix3223 decent tradesmen don’t use trackertrade. They don’t need to
What is a "cold caller?"
