  • I stay in a lot of small towns for work. As a vegan, I want to ensure that I have all the meals I need to keep me on my feet for long hours and engaging with the masses. Ensure you maintain your energy while working in rural areas and utilise the tips incorporated in this video. This will give you an idea of how to survive and not starve while away.
While you may be able to find options here and there, I always like to be independent and have a sustainable way of doing things.
    ______
    Some tips:
Be sure to pack your containers and cutlery. Collapsible ones are great if you are able. Reusable water bottles are essential.
Have at least one large glass pyrex dish so that you can cook big meals in it if you are reliant on a microwave. I even like to bring proper bowls often because hotels tend to give you baby sized ones if you ask.
I had soaked beans in advance and was able to make a delicious filling red red dish. Feel free to prepare lentils, chickpeas, or other varieties of beans and legumes in advance.
Pre-chopping veggies and fruits helps a lot. You can enjoy them for snacking and have extra for cooking or preparing salads. It will be easier to throw together meals.
Get your cooler ready with your Ice pack and frozen food items. A cooler bag and insulated lunch bags are also handy.
Nuts and seeds are always good to have as snacks, or healthy junk free vegan protein bars.
If you pre-wash salad, always remember to dry it off well. you may want to use some paper towel in the container you are transporting it in.
Small bottles for spices, sauces, oils, vinegars are awesome. Don't forget the chillies and hot sauce! ;)
Gather all of your sandwich ingredients up. Whether you plan on making more or less the same type of sandwich, or a few different varieties, a couple of variations with the ingredients will keep things interesting. (Such as an artisan chocolate mustard that I have).
Have the cooking utensils you need. A couple of kitchen towels, paper towel, and dish soap is useful to have.
If you pre-cook some pasta, ensure there is still a little bit of cook time left, and coat it in oil so that it doesn't clump together. It should be a little under al dente. Once you fry up your veggies, add the sauce, you will want to mix the pasta in and it will cook to the perfect level.
It doesn't hurt to look up what is close to where you are working or staying in case you want a treat one night. Happy Cow is a great vegan resource.
Hotel cereals may not be the healthiest varieties. I like Nature's Path Organic cereal because it is low in sugar and has whole grains. The one I show has raisins, but normally I opt for the regular Mesa Sunrise (even lower in sugar).
Bring your vitamins too. It's best to take them at night if you enjoy a morning coffee. They will be more effective this way.
Make a list, and check it to ensure you don't forget anything. If you do though, I'm sure you'll be able to get to a grocery store to pick up any missing items.

I was so lucky that I had the foresight to record some of the stuff I eat while away in small towns, because I got hit with Covid. It was a big relief that I was ahead of the game! I'm grateful for your support as well. 🙏

It's mainly about one's mindset and just being prepared for anything. It is nice to come across mom and pop restaurants that happen to have vegan options every now and then. I just opted for the vegan junk food for my treat since it was easy to stop by Odd Burger.

@@CookingJJ But if someone needs to gain weight ( 25 lbs) and eat lots of protein and probiotics like plain yogurt and Kefir is this doable?
