When I started embroidering the two things that frustrated me was the tension and the bobbin. If it’s not threaded right it will break because of the tension
1st issue is Auto digitize thats a big no no. it will give you the issues your having and more. always manual digitize. 2nd your stitch angles are wrong and stitching to long which is one reason it could be stopping. 3rd Stop turning the tension knobs without knowing what the tension is. 4th make sure that the bobbing is going the right way and slow down the machine to 650 when your first learning these ricomas. 5th buy a tension Gauge (Digital Towa) and needle ease. 6th dont select a second color in the software cause it duplicating the file . did I mention to dont use auto digitize.
Another lesson I learned is to stitch out on just the stabilizer first so you can see what issues you have before you stitch out on the final product. I have had to do that for most of my projects or buy more of the item so I can fix it before I stitch it out. I hope that helps. Stitch out on a smaller sample as you are learning because it does take some time to perfect the machine and adjust the tension. I’ve learned more in the Ricoma tutorials and post training then I did when I first bought my machine. I have the EM1010 so I initially wanted to larger machine but am still leaning the EM1010. We are all in this together. By the way, I love your videos. I’m so inspired on your journey.
Katrina I have had days like this. It really sucks especially when doing an order for a paying customer. Even though you had issues with your project, you kept going. You don’t have to apologize for being human. People makes mistakes and learn from them. This is something new and you are still learning. Who ever doesn’t understand that and expect you to be perfect could go elsewhere with that crap. I appreciate you posting this to show people that things happen and it’s ok.
I don’t have Chroma. I use another embroidery software. I’m pretty sure that Chroma Luxe has a sew out simulator built into the program. Some simulators are called slow redraw. Running the slow redraw has caught many of my goofs. Plus it saved a lot of time and aggravation. Don’t get discouraged. It takes time to learn embroidery software. Keep it simple. Stay away from SVG files until you’re more confident with Chroma. I know those SVG designs are cool, but they’re more complicated than they seem. Try the built in digitized fonts. There must be fun shapes in there too. Auto digitized embroidery always needs a lot of editing in order to work. Machine problems are quite often the digitizing. Loved the floor plant in this video. I’m a commercial embroidery machine operator for a large company. You have my sympathies lol!
When you auto-digitize and saved the design after putting in the colors, run the stitch out so you can see what gets stitched out first. Do the print preview so you can see what colors are in sequences. Once you fix the colors they way you want them, save it, load it to the machine. I try to go up the colors that I want to stitch together first. Try that save and then load to the machine. I hope that helps. Don’t forget to delete the image. It may be thinking the image is still there.
I love who you showed us true transparency; yet you did not give up! Crafting is not as easy as it looks! Keep doing what you're doing! Love the energy!

And you are one funny, awesome, faithful and patient person. Yes machine embroidery is really hard.

Hello Katrina. I own the MT 1502 and usually when it stops and the thread is still connected, it is because the bobbin is out. Don’t give up. Try a new bobbin and see how that works for you. Sometimes you can get a bad bobbin. Good luck
The struggle is real but you keep coming back with something new and interesting. I love your humor about your mistakes and how you continued until it was finished. Hi Katrina, Love your videos. I have learned a lot from watching them. I think the double embroidering might because you did not delete the artwork layer before saving the DST file. Likewise, I had a similar issue recently and that is what I found to have solved my problem. When you import the artwork, it automatically sets it to a complex fill, even though you auto-digitize it. I might be wrong, but that was my experience. I also had random stitches appearing because the auto-digitize picked up on a pixel of color somewhere in the file. It really is a learning curve. You've got this, and you're doing amazing work.
@@katrinasgracefulcreations3711Were the thread "breaks" happening only on the bottom layer color? (The weird one). I was experiencing the same type of "thread break" stop when I had the artwork layer in the dst file. The thread seemed to be extra taught - I wonder if the artwork file had some weird setting on it. Hi Katrina, you are brilliant. You get 10/10 for this video. I wish I had a way to give you many many thumps up😀. But I feel bad for what you went through. At your expense, we learned a lot. Please make more videos if you can, whenever you get a chance on Ricoma. I couldn't understand how you were selecting the thread colors on the screen. Perhaps, once I start the embroidery machine, I will get it. The other thing I learned is about Chroma software. I will talk to Ricoma if I can purchase it. I didn't know that so easily one can transfer an SVG into a DST file. Thanks for letting me know. Lloyd Green's comment in this regard was also very helpful. Please keep up your incredible work. Hi Katrina, first thing you would want to change your colors after you design it, then print your design before you embroidery it, in that print out it will give you the order of your colors, and up top in the software, it'll show you how it will start out stitching, before you send it to the embroidery machine. and some times when it stops like that check your bobbin, or your bottom stitches, double your stabilizer, just know nothing beats a failure but a try, so don't you dare give up, loving what you're doing , good luck I love my MT 1501 at Infiniti Crafts LLC

I loved that you prayed!!! We know prayer does changes things! Also, Im in the market for a new printer that I could make my own waterslides and still use the printer for my day to day printing. What would you recommend?? Well you have a Wonderfull Blessed Day!!
You solved my problem! It was stopping every 10 stitches. I loosen my bottom tension. (Lefty Loosey, righty tighty) I had to walk away from my machine and came back to it the next day. I see I am not the only one having these issues.
I've already had 19 deaths in my family since Thanksgiving and I recently told you that I have my ricoma em 1010 sitting in the box untouched by the time I opened it I actually was my training for my post training I guess I was supposed to get a video chat was expired and was not there on my my ricoma that put that just stresses me out I'm learning but I can't afford the chroma luxe as much as I want it BUT RIGHT NOW I'M GOING TO HAVE TO TAKE A LOSS FOR THIS EASTER I'M GOING TO TRY TO PUT OUT SOMETHING BUT I NOW GOT TO TRAIN TO BECOME THE PRIMARY HOME CARE FOR MY ELDERLY SICKLY MOTHER But I WILL TELL YOU THE OLD VIDEOS THAT RICOMA HAVE ON HERE ARE A GODSEND !!
Girl you was working that machine. You had the go ahead to keep going and I myself admire you for your endurance. HE never fails us regardless. Yo go girl. Keep the faith and kiss and hug your sweat little man for me. With his adorable self.
Usually the thread is getting caught up at the thread spool. Learning curve not easy but a breath of fresh air when you finally figure it out. I really like the colors though.
Thank you for sharing, sorry you had a bad time with making the pillow case. With the red thread, I'm curious if something was wrong with it and the machine was picking up on it? If you need to take a break from videos until next week then do it. People should understand, take care of you :) don't burn yourself out. Prayers and hugs to you.
Thank you so much. I definitely have to take some me time it’s starting to show. Plus I’m swamped with orders like crazy. It’s spring break for my son so definitely have to spend some time with him.
You had me cracking up. I needed this laughter at 4am. Wyoming time. I am thinking of getting Ricoma for my store. I thought of Melco but they were very expensive and financing is high. I own a craft store in Wyoming, and I was hoping to embroider when sales online and shop are slow. I love ❤️ that you always keep it real. God is with you. There is no challenge he can't handle or a fire he can't put out. Let God put those fires out. My nephew was ADHD/bipolar. I was a teenager when he was born, and my mom got full custody. So, I know your frustration. Society doesn't understand kids with special needs. I remember dealing with school teachers whenever my nephew had a bad day at school. Sometimes, we want to control situations, and we forget that God is the creator, and if he created him, he did it for a reason. Anyway, thank you for keeping it real. Do you think Ricoma is a good machine?
Thank you so much for watching. It is definitely not easy. Not only does my son have ADHD, but he has mood disorder and Anxiety so it gets to be overwhelming at times I just pray and smile through it. But the Ricoma is a great machine, just takes a lot of practice and training. It's definitely worth it in my opinion. It would be a great addition to any business as long as you have the time to commit to it. I have much more to come. Glad I made you laugh. lol.
@@katrinasgracefulcreations3711 thank you for the reply. You got this because God is on your side. Hugs. I hope to speak with someone today about the machine.
I had the same problem it’s the pressure foot it’s maybe a lil higher then the other one take off plate and check if it’s the same as the other I’m pretty sure it can be that it happened to me as well
🥴Brahh!! I feel your pain. I tried my first hat yesterday and it was an all out fail. 3 threadbreaks, a birds nest in my bobbin case area and when I got somewhere, the design was crooked. I know we will get better, but the embroidery machine is my least favorite tool in my studio right now.
Relax, Relate, Release :) Take a time out and just breathe, come back to it with a new look on things. Sometimes we have to give ourselves a break. Go for a walk, look at a funny movie or show, and what always works- Pray about it. Don't ever let anything or anybody steal your JOY. Love your videos. Continued Blessings to you and your son.
Thank you for posting this… I just recently got the 1501, and you learn so much more from seeing how people deal with real-time issues than in manuals and training where everything goes perfect….
I would suggest you practice the design first. Once you see it is right then u transfer it to your project. This will prevent you from messing up your blanks. And here in Germany we don't have the same support with the machine that you guys get. Please let me know what the solution to your problem was.
I'm so sorry you had this trouble! I haven't touched a tension knob on either of my machines ever - one is 10 years old and the other is 7. Hmmm - didn't realize I've had them that long! HA Hope you can figure it out - I'm sure you will! Thanks for sharing! This was happening to me yesterday, and I changed the needle, and it stopped breaking??
@@spottedbearknits3824 No, unfortunately, or I would have hoped to be able to help!! I won't ever touch my tension knobs...they were set when I got them so I will hope that's not an issue ever. I did have this problem the other day, and I simply changed my needle! 🙏🏻
Sister I want to say something to you just remember The Lord chassens whom he loves, This means your troubles is a sign that your business is going to blow up with sales 🎊 remember "Satan attacks those who he feels will succeed," congratulations and I pray for nothing but success.
I commented earlier before I saw how many times this was stopping on you - I feel so bad! I would be freaking too. So sorry!!!! It is so frustrating! 😓
Please take a rest when you can so you dont break down or have a massavise burnout. Take care of yourself. By doing that you will be a better mom, better bussines woman, better everything. You can do it champ !
If your problem is on the top , problem is on the bottom…and visa versa. That is either a thread stuck in the cutter area or your bobbin. Second, you should never have to crank on the tension like that, only time tension should be changed is maybe when you change brands of thread or you are working with items like satin, and it doesn’t take much. Just keep trying. It takes several projects to understand how stitches work and how to fix them :)
Thanks for your insights. You made it simple to remember. If top is giving you problems it is the bobbin. If bottom is giving you issues it is the top! So true but never realized it. Never heard anyone explain like you did. THANKS!
Check to make sure your needle eye is perfectly centered. If it is turned at all it will cause issues like this. It can’t pick up the bobbin thread straight, so it reads it like something is wrong. Good luck.
I've had the same problem of the machine stopping for a "thread break" which isn't there. I literally just kept hitting the start button over and over. Tried the tension, nothing helped. ughhhh
Rethread your red (making sure the thread path is clear) then take out your bobbin, rethread it & replace. Most times that will fix the problem. What does the back look like? Good luck to ya...
Hi did you find out what was happening. I'm having same problem I call they l didn't figure out they tell me to call again but the way is to long. I send them videos video call everything.
I called them. The bobbin wasn’t tight enough and some of the thread were too tight. Still trying to perfect it. Was on the phone with them do some long.
Hello beautiful. What speed are you running it on? Also check the thread path it could be getting caught on the hose. Check your bobbin area you could have a bird’s nest. Also sometimes one color thread will not work with that needle.
@@katrinasgracefulcreations3711 try testing out the design on a speed of 675 it may help. By any chance did you oil the machine prior to stitching? Did you check the bobbin area for a birds nest?
Thanks for sharing! How the stitches weren't filling the sides, looks like the bobbin was in backwards. That happened to me before, now I always remember from the training that they said to make a 9 with the thread when putting it in the bobbin case. Also when the machine stops like that and the thread is still connected, the bobbin could have ran out and needs to be replaced. I hope that helps.
I’m thinking about buying this ricoma 1501-Tc Have you had any issues or customer service issues with his company because when I look at reviews they say do not buy but I listen to people like yourself that already have this machinery let me know thanks

You solved my problem! It was stopping every 10 stitches. I loosen my bottom tension. (Lefty Loosey, righty tighty) I had to walk away from my machine and came back to it the next day. I see I am not the only one having these issues.
So when you loosened the bobbin, it started to work just fine? I'm dealing with the issue right now😒
What ended up being the issue to fix I have the same problem any help ty
I've already had 19 deaths in my family since Thanksgiving and I recently told you that I have my ricoma em 1010 sitting in the box untouched by the time I opened it I actually was my training for my post training I guess I was supposed to get a video chat was expired and was not there on my my ricoma that put that just stresses me out I'm learning but I can't afford the chroma luxe as much as I want it
BUT RIGHT NOW I'M GOING TO HAVE TO TAKE A LOSS FOR THIS EASTER I'M GOING TO TRY TO PUT OUT SOMETHING BUT I NOW GOT TO TRAIN TO BECOME THE PRIMARY HOME CARE FOR MY ELDERLY SICKLY MOTHER
But I WILL TELL YOU THE OLD VIDEOS THAT RICOMA HAVE ON HERE ARE A GODSEND !!
So sorry for your loss. You definitely have to find the strength to start training and get going.
Girl you was working that machine. You had the go ahead to keep going and I myself admire you for your endurance. HE never fails us regardless. Yo go girl. Keep the faith and kiss and hug your sweat little man for me. With his adorable self.
Thank you so much. This was really a test. And lil man will be back in another video next week.
@@katrinasgracefulcreations3711 awww I will be looking forward to seeing you guys.
Usually the thread is getting caught up at the thread spool. Learning curve not easy but a breath of fresh air when you finally figure it out. I really like the colors though.
Trial and error is one of the greatest teachers.
Definitely
Thank you for sharing, sorry you had a bad time with making the pillow case. With the red thread, I'm curious if something was wrong with it and the machine was picking up on it?
If you need to take a break from videos until next week then do it. People should understand, take care of you :) don't burn yourself out. Prayers and hugs to you.
Thank you so much. I definitely have to take some me time it’s starting to show. Plus I’m swamped with orders like crazy. It’s spring break for my son so definitely have to spend some time with him.
Girl you are the real acting like your son. I was praying with you🙏🏽😉
Lol thank you. I truly needed it.
Katrina, We live and we learn. Keep moving forward in Grace!
So true. Thank you!
The pillow is not that bad, you had patience and you didn’t give up. I thought the pillow look great. Keep doing what you’re doing. God bless
You’re doing awesome!
I had the same problem it’s the pressure foot it’s maybe a lil higher then the other one take off plate and check if it’s the same as the other I’m pretty sure it can be that it happened to me as well
Thank you so much for this video. I am in going through the same thing and going crazy. I’m still trying to work it out stops every second.
Can you tell me the solution please, I'm in the same situation 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽💜💜💜🤣🤣🤣 You had me laughing…..when you fell out! Really had me going….loved your video!
Thank you so much. Lol
You’re So Amazing. Thanks For Sharing
🥴Brahh!! I feel your pain. I tried my first hat yesterday and it was an all out fail. 3 threadbreaks, a birds nest in my bobbin case area and when I got somewhere, the design was crooked. I know we will get better, but the embroidery machine is my least favorite tool in my studio right now.
Have a blessed day queen 👑
Relax, Relate, Release :) Take a time out and just breathe, come back to it with a new look on things. Sometimes we have to give ourselves a break. Go for a walk, look at a funny movie or show, and what always works- Pray about it. Don't ever let anything or anybody steal your JOY. Love your videos. Continued Blessings to you and your son.
Thank you. Definitely gonna take a break.
Looks like a threading issue of the top thread. There is no tension issue. Also make sure your bobbin is in correctly. Did you change the needle?
Thank you for posting this… I just recently got the 1501, and you learn so much more from seeing how people deal with real-time issues than in manuals and training where everything goes perfect….
So true. I wish people posted more videos like this to help more now once I learn and fix my issues I will post the steps to solve it
Wow..really I love this, I am feel I am not alone, so thank you so much, from Saudi Arabia
I would suggest you practice the design first. Once you see it is right then u transfer it to your project. This will prevent you from messing up your blanks. You can also use your sample for displays on your website. please don’t let it get you down it happened to all of us at some point. Love your content and keep on crafting. We have a lot in common we r both live in NC. 😀😀👍🏾
Thank you so much. Happy crafting.
Great job Katrina and get you some rest....Some real rest. You are amazing
Can’t until after this weekend. A lot going on for Easter. Thank you.
HI Ms. K,
We are on year 3 with ours! 😳 And we still have days like😳😬🥴" You got to be kidding me!" Like you did, you stick it out and keep going! They do have good CS , on hold forever, but once you get someone excellent and you see why or understand the wait! Feel free to reach out Pins and Needles Custom Designs. Working on our journey too! Enjoy your videos, thank you for sharing your time, talent, family and spirit!
Peace and Blessings, Queen🌸
Yes the hold time is crazy even for us RUclipsrs. Lol.
That whole machine intimates me girl So u did good 😊 THANKS
You're welcome...I'm still learning.
Hello Katrina, girl I was cracking up at 7am in the morning watching you especially when you fell out 😂😂 that would have been me and I’m actually waiting on ricoma 1501 now and girl I watched you from beginning to end with the delivery and unboxing setting up and girllll yes I will need some strong armed men to help me but at least it’s going in my she shed / office/ crafting work space. It does look intimidating to me but I will conquer it!!! God said this is your next level so that’s what it will be moving on up. Continue with your videos I will be watching and continue being blessed girl!! 🙏🏽🙏🏽
So glad I made you laugh. Thank you so much. So happy for you. Yours will be a much easier transition to put in place. My steps killed my guys because it was tight. You’re going to do amazing. Enjoy the process.
@@katrinasgracefulcreations3711 girl I'm feeling like you I can not figure out why my design stitches are so tight they are hard like what in the world if you have an answer please please please let a sista know
Thread breaks should always lead you to your bobbin thread if it’s not on the top thread before messing with the tension
Wow!!!!!!!! I just now found this video and I am so in awe about you and your patience. You were still so calm and positive even after the machine went crazy. I admire you and I love your video. Do you have an idea of what happened or what went wrong? I would love to buy that machine but now I am a little concerned (I am not as good as you dealing with trouble). And here in Germany we don't have the same support with the machine that you guys get. Please let me know what the solution to your problem was.
This is me with my white toner printer 😢 never fails it keeps being picky. Machines don't work when you need them. 😮
Do you have a Ricoma or some other brand? I struggle with this issue on my Ricoma.
@@spottedbearknits3824 No, unfortunately, or I would have hoped to be able to help!! I won't ever touch my tension knobs...they were set when I got them so I will hope that's not an issue ever. I did have this problem the other day, and I simply changed my needle! 🙏🏻
Lucky you. I will definitely have to figure out what went wrong. That never happened to me since I had it. I didn’t know what the issue was
Sister I want to say something to you just remember The Lord chassens whom he loves, This means your troubles is a sign that your business is going to blow up with sales 🎊 remember "Satan attacks those who he feels will succeed," congratulations and I pray for nothing but success.
I receive that. Thank you. I have heard that all my life. Blessings to you as well
The knobs it’s righty tidy lefty, Lucy your tighting it
I was going in both directions at the time of this video because I felt like nothing was working. But I got it after that. Thanks.
I commented earlier before I saw how many times this was stopping on you - I feel so bad! I would be freaking too. So sorry!!!! It is so frustrating! 😓
It’s stopped way more than that. I had to edit some of it out. Lol.
@@katrinasgracefulcreations3711 oh I feel so bad!! Sometimes I need to walk away on days like that! 🙏🏻
That tension is the exact reason I got a melco. One less headache
I only have a single needle machine but it will do the same thing. Sometimes I will rethread it.
Please take a rest when you can so you dont break down or have a massavise burnout. Take care of yourself. By doing that you will be a better mom, better bussines woman, better everything.
You can do it champ !
Thanks. Got family coming in town this weekend. Have a huge play…so after this weekend I will be resting for sure.
You are GREAT….. love you and your son …
thank you
A Dubb Productions may be able to help troubleshoot. He has the same machine. My EM 1010 does the same thing when I’m doing tension test.
Thank you ! You the best
So pretty 😍
Thank you
Hi Kartina, Blessings, did you ever find a resolution for the thread breaks?
Have a blessed day 👑
You as well
Good video thanks
Thanks for sharing
Don’t give up!
Never I have gotten better
Sometimes the tread is old. Even if you just bought it.
Thank you. I know I never seen anyone so that before. I didn’t think about the bobbin at all during that. All a learning experience. Thank you.
Thanks for your insights. You made it simple to remember. If top is giving you problems it is the bobbin. If bottom is giving you issues it is the top! So true but never realized it. Never heard anyone explain like you did. THANKS!
Girl!!! Your play is going to be amazing! I just know it, cause you have gone hoarse!!! 💕
Lol. I pray it is. Final rehearsal tonight. We were in rehearsal until 11pm last night. I’m excited.
@@katrinasgracefulcreations3711 💕💕
Check thread path
Check bobbin casing area
Slow down the stitches per min
That’s the only thing I can think of off the top of my head
Thank you this video is old I’m good now
What did you do to fix that? How it kept stopping for no reason?
@@louyoung4360 it was my tension
If you find a solution... pls share!!! My 3rd needle does the same thing-- on a Ricoma too!
I’m really about to go in on this machine and figure out what really went wrong. I will definitely do more videos.
Tried the tension, nothing helped. ughhhh
Hi Katrina. I have a question. My embroidery design has 7 color changes. My Ricoma 1501 will only let me enter 5. Would you know why?
Oh my goodness. I get my 1501 next week. I have been everything out there. Now I am worried. Any words of encouragement?
Katrina is there anything you don't know how to do? Best wishes...thanks for sharing ...love the channel.
Plenty. I can’t whistle or skate backwards . Lol.
Rethread your red (making sure the thread path is clear) then take out your bobbin, rethread it & replace. Most times that will fix the problem. What does the back look like? Good luck to ya...
I am having the same issues with the colors. The colors comes out wrong. Very frustrating and I have the same machine
You got the patience of Job😱
Did you ever find out why It kept doing that? I am having the same problem with mine.
I feel your pain. Lol
You need to press your fabric first. That's why you got the line.
Hi did you find out what was happening. I'm having same problem I call they l didn't figure out they tell me to call again but the way is to long. I send them videos video call everything.
Hello! Could you do a video explaining worldwide shipping on etsy?
I think the problem was the bobbin. It probably needed to be changed. Did it get resolved
I called them. The bobbin wasn’t tight enough and some of the thread were too tight. Still trying to perfect it. Was on the phone with them do some long.
On your Epson how to make the image the same size as the paper? I have the 2720 and can’t figure out how to resize the images.
I used silhouette studios. So I just enlarge the image in the software.
@@katrinasgracefulcreations3711 thank you. I have cricut but I’ll try silhouette studio
Hello beautiful. What speed are you running it on? Also check the thread path it could be getting caught on the hose. Check your bobbin area you could have a bird’s nest.
Also sometimes one color thread will not work with that needle.
I was at a speed of 900
@@katrinasgracefulcreations3711 try testing out the design on a speed of 675 it may help. By any chance did you oil the machine prior to stitching? Did you check the bobbin area for a birds nest?
Just call the company. They should be able to troubleshoot your issues. I wish you well.
They definitely can but this happened while I was filming. I’m gonna call them tomorrow
I don’t know my ricoma do that too o hate it
" auto digitizing "
That was one of you biggest problems, along with what it looks like a tension issue, i hope you have it all under control now.
Thank you.
I’m thinking about buying this ricoma 1501-Tc Have you had any issues or customer service issues with his company because when I look at reviews they say do not buy but I listen to people like yourself that already have this machinery let me know thanks
Sometimes the wait can be long but they always get you the help you need. I don’t have any issues. They have sales and 0 financing I have a link down below in the description. Just make sure you do your training to learn the machine. That was my only hang up
Did you ever figure out what caused it? Im having so many threaed breaks as well its frustrating!! But one day at a time
It was my tension
What you do to your tenction
@@katrinasgracefulcreations3711 hi there I’m having same issue with mines I have the same machine ass yours any help what you do to fix it please help me ty blessesing
I’d be willing to het that you have a thread issue, like it’s old, or low quality.
I can tell from looking at the white thread coming off the spool that is very low quality. It’s all curly and dry looking.
I’m using brand new thread from maderia. So I’m sorry but you’re wrong.
its the softwear
Hey Katrina, Have a great weekend with your play, family, and your business. I agree, you do need to rest after your play. Now this video 🤔I felt your frustration. I may have a solution.... You have a neighbor that may can help you. Look up " The Baby Booty on RUclips.
Thank you so much. I will definitely look them up. Ricoma also assigned a personal technician to me for all of my needs. So I'm about to rock and roll.
