"Our backs are hardened by the whips of the mogu. Our arms are powerful from building their fortresses. Our minds are sharp from working alongside our enemy. You think the mogu are stronger? I say we are their strength!" - Kang, Fist of First Dawn
Wotlk was amazing. Cataclysm has some good tracks too. But when I need to take a chill pill or relax I always visit MoP and just chill around flying and listening the soundtrack. From the temples of jade forest to the top of neverest.
When MOP came, so many players were discouraging me from playing it, they said it was such a crappy installation about some "panda" and all. I thought to myself " well i need to get the loremaster achievement so im gonna just hafta do it".I tell you at the end of the MOP quest, i got shocked! MOP took me by storm! It went beyond my expectations! When i heard about WOD expansion, my heart sank because i fell in love with MOP so much! I miss the zones, i miss the quests i did with Li Li, Chen Stormstout and etc! I am however a bit puzzled as to why Pandaren faction didn't play significant roles in legion!Shado-Pan is such an elite class worthy of acolytes!
Kristian Spasov Actually, Pandaren lore and concept art was created by Blizzard around the early 2000's, after their creation in Warcraft III. And yes, that included the martial arts of the Pandaren. Suck on that, King Fu Panda!
I was a MoP hater not because of panda's but gameplay issues. But I took a week for a MoP release and MoP's loremaster and I say that was my best vacation of my life. Quests and characters was so epic and awesome. But I still decided to not play MoP and .wait for next expansion. Years passed. I'm pretty sad and sorry I didn't raid and pvp or play MoP because IMO MoP was a best expansion ever.
Say what you will about MoP but if there's two things that I freaking love about this expansion are 1. The fucking music. Epic and peaceful. And speaking of peace.. 2. Before and after the expansion. A continent undiscovered was unexposed from our constant war. And even when we came here and ravage their homeland, we are capable of learning from our mistakes, just like their deceased emperor did. With Garrosh dead and WoD ended, whenever I'm tired from raids, dungeons, and doing profession jobs, I always come back to Pandaria. A continent that has experienced war and still retain its peaceful nature. A continent that is made for everyone who wants to get away from war. A continent where people can finally do the thing we always wanted to do..relax.
To paraphrase someone else, "Not a game I once played, but a life I once lived." *wipes tears* I miss you greatly, MOP. Take rest where you belong, in the past, unaltered by anything.
2:35 "People of Pandaria" Shaohao proclaimed "You are not yet ready to face the storm that comes for you ... And I ... Cannot stop it. But you will weather this storm and many more. For I will give you the time to learn the lessons that I have learned"
*proceeds to cover an entire continent with mist saving it from the most deadliest, apocalyptic events on the world. A feat Azshara cant accomplish* Gotta say Shaohao is pretty powerful
I always imagine a forsaken rogue, giving up his old ways to become a mistweaver monk. He finds it extremely hard to nurture life with his CHi since he himself is an undead. This whole theme has him doing his training, going through immense pain and suffering, facing his demons with his atrocities committed in his life and undeath. Eventually becoming at peace with himself at 2:35 and also has a montage of him learning the martial arts and eventually ends with him bringing a dead flower back to life with his mistweaver healing.
The way of the monk is the bare hand fighting style that was developed by Kang when he was enslaved in order to fight back against the Mogul oppressors. The history of the races and the story of these people are so well kept and deep, it's hard to convey to non-lore people why wow stood out from the rest of the MMO out there (well raiding maybe).
song makes me sad when I realise 2012 was nearly 10 years ago. To anyone from the future where 2012 is more then 10 years ago, please shut up. I know..
My favorite piece of music in WoW. WoD has some great tracks but IMHO they don't have anything memorable that really lifts your soul and fills your heart like this one.
Every time I do 2’s on my mage and I get the arena in Kun-Lai Summit, I get so pumped! The falling snow, the images of Xuen. The build up of the music before the doors open. I get so pumped here! Love it!
Listening to this makes me miss MoP so much. Coming into the xpac guns blazing as Horde fighting alliance in jade forest, hearing the beautiful music and seeing the colorful zones and NPCs, diving into the rich lore and actually started caring about what the story is in WoW. Fighting off trolls and the thunder King and then a horde revolution with siege of orgrimmar. This was a such a misunderstood expansion and I feel like blizzard put the most heart and soul into this.
Flame me all you want guys but MoP is easily my favourite expac. Gave me Monk which I love to death, had an amazing story, continent and soundtrack. Lich King is still the coolest/best expac boss though. I'm not a raider so whatever was wrong on that front didn't effect me in any way.
+somany5 Durumu LFR, not a single time where half the raid did not not die. Good times indeed, least for me cause I knew how to walk the maze :D Miss MoP, got sick of Warlords 1 month after launch.
+MadMar83 MOP was not the best exp. By survey, Wrath of Lich King is the most popular expansion. and I agree with them. LK is the peak of WOW. But MOP was really underrated. It is 2nd best in my book, really well rounded.
+MadMar83 I started playing at late TBC and MoP is easily the best expansion. TBC lore and classes were a complete fuck up and I got sick of so much fucking snow on WotLK.
Túpac Amaru I know, right! I can't believe people didn't like it. To me, the only bad thing was the SoO duration and nothing else. I loved the expansion.
They totally nailed the music in MoP. I mean, imo there hasn't been a bad expansion for music, but some of this stands at the top as some of the best music they've produced.
I am so happy to return to the greatest expansion once again in 2025 !! The musoc, the charavters, the story and of course the raids. (Lets just hope they tweak the rep grind xd )
+Gamuga Gamuga never in WoW had I felt any more heroic than what the music did in Pandaria. Yes, the lore of many more expansions made me feel heroic too, but Pandaria had the best music accompanying it for me.
Gracias Blizzard.
My first expac ever, it literally sold it for me- never cared if others thought it was ridiculous or cringe. I was 10 at the time and all i did was hang around higher level zones killing mobs and doing dungeons non stop (messing up tactics ofc), i didn't do any end game content and i missed that opportunity, but damn- this expansions was so gorgeous on all aspects
When I need to take a chill pill and relax I always visit MoP. Flying to the jade forest and its beautiful temples watching the ocean into the top of Neverest standing alone. Beautiful
I've had this set as my Horde garrison tune for so long that I forgot what the original track sounded like. So then I put the original track back on. .. Way of the Monk took the spot back pretty quickly.
I have been playing WoW since 2005. Done all the dungeons / raids hundreds of times throughout all expansions whilst keeping PvP at high level as well. I have Loremaster too and yes I have read all those quests because I just love the story and atmosphere of this game. In all my time spent playing this game I can honestly say that I have never enjoyed WoW more than during Vanilla. I guess it is mostly because how new everything was, the feeling of exploring something I have never seen, learning the game and it's lore meanwhile. It was just epic. Gotta add though, in my opinion (and I know I share this with a lot of other people), WotLK has to be the best expansion ever made. If Vanilla was epic, then WotLK has to be legendary. I thought WoW has died with Arthas and I kinda felt that until MoP came and brought new life to the game with all its colour, music, adventures and epicness. I just fear for WoW's future as WoD simply didn't deliver and I fear Legion will not add too many new things either, although I am still hoping.
Well that is how I felt at the time. 4 years have passed since the mortal races banded tog.... I mean, since my comment, and since I have not played on retail but went back to Vanilla servers - as you could have guessed from my comment that I would - there is little I can add to my statement. However I did hear that, after all Legion has delivered, but the game is in ruin once again. We shall see. See you guys in another 4 years! Hugs to y'all!
I forgot who was the composer that made this masterpiece, but one thing I'm sure is: This expansion has one of the most underrated soundtracks and musics! Although I haven't dived deep into World of Warcraft Series and Expansions, I'm already in love with this theme! Russell Brower, Derek Duke, Neal Acree, Sam Cardon, Edo Guidotti, Jeremy Soule, either one of you, you're the best!
Neal Acree was the composer for this track, he was responsible for a lot of the known tracks in 5.0, like a lot of the Wandering Isle tracks, Valley of the Four Winds etc. also did the cinematic music, which he does for every expansion since TBC.
I completely understand your point. I think this is also one of the reasons so many people hated Cataclysm. Very long periods of nothing are very bad for the game. I really think Mists of Pandaria was an excellent expac that had many fun things to do. The only two major complaints I had were the lack of challenging 5man dungeons and the very long SoO grind. But besides that... The story and the questing experience were just outstanding. Far superior than Cata and such a big improvement to Vanilla/BC
Pandaren (熊猫人) literly means panda man in mandarine, and the weapon used by the panda on the left is called (月牙禅杖), a typical weapon used by Chinese Kung Fu monks. It is is a very heavy weapon and only the strong is able to wield. There are so much Chinese elements in MOP, loved it a lot!
I joined at the end of Cata during MoP launched. Mop will forever be my glory days of wow. When i retire from wow, my character will join his farm again in halfhill.
When heading to the shado-pan monastery for huge rp events hosted by the realm pandaren guild, this music would always make the event that much better.
Leveling in Pandaria is magical, every single part of it was epic! Battle at the gate, against Yaungool boss, Hiden Master Q line, and boy i can go on forever!
The soundtrack to MoP has definitely rekindled my love of WoW. The storyline is amazing too. Great job Blizzard. I was skeptical when I heard of Pandas but now I can't see any other way of doing it. KUDOS!! Here's to playing 6yrs and counting!!! (for me at least)
