Custom ROMs rock. My Pixel 6 pro got screen damage last week. Had an old Redmi Note 10 Pro lying around. Flashed latest LineageOS official build on it. Works like a charm. Don't root your phone and all banking apps will work. Its so smooth, stable and has so many features compared to my P6pro (Headphone jack, dedicated dual sim + sd card slot, IR port) that I don't think I will be getting my P6pro fixed right now. Custom roms make a lot of sense for phones as long as you don't go overboard and root your device. My Galaxy tab s2 from 2015 still gets monthly security updates. Also Pixelexperience devs have started Pixelbuilds, so its not really dead...
fyi, the Pixel experience project is dead. You need to install another rom to get the latest updates. Android 15 wont be coming to Pixel experience project.
I'm using a Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G with LineageOS 21, rooted with KernelSU and I've yet to face an app I can't use due to root (for example, with Magisk I had issues getting the ChatGPT app to work no matter what I tried, but with KSU it works well)

The thing is right, knox only exists on samsung devices. But even without root u would trip google's new integrety API, with root u can bypass (meets_device_integrety, meets_basic_integrety but not meets_stronger_requirement), the last one is reliant on the status of the bootloader and not even with a fuse these days. But I would say that it's a strong conflicting matter because it mostly depends on the rom that you're using and what signatures the rom has been signed with. Example EvolutionX for my Redmi Note 8 Pro is signed with a test key where google services won't work at all (unless u have the ability to change rom signatures within the rom is pretty limited at most and will never be perfect) and yes I agree root will be always detected unless you mount it specifically for a certain app using kernelsu, magisk would leave files behind. I personally would say that rooting and having a custom rom is pretty much only benifitial of you have a budget phone, since the budget phones of XiaoMi only get around 2-3 years of software updates and maintenance. But for a flagship custom rom is only benifitial after the EOL has been reached. But overall I would say, keep up the good work and I see you in the next video!

I never really got my hands dirty with custom ROMs when it was popular. I was curious about, but never got past reading stuff and watching videos. Honestly, though, with my current Samsung I never even felt the need to install a launcher. It offers plenty of customization for my needs. I've played around with Good Lock, but there very few features that I actually care to use. Looks like they might extend the security support past the promised 4 years too, so I'll keep the phone a while longer if they do.
Great video, you really should have more viewers. I think it would've been cool if you talked about the privacy aspect of custom ROMs like grapheneOS. I've been considering buying a pixel 9 to upgrade from my iphone 13 mini and to put it on there over the stock google one.
HOLY! I ve thinking a lot what to do with my S6 Edge. Not to use it as my daily driver, i have a fantastic Pixel 6a, but to get creative and experiment. Android 7 is sooo slow, even after factory reset and minimal graphic animations. I think ill give Lineage a try (which is not "OFFICIALLY" supported, but like i see here, it should work)
That's what i like about samsung phones, usually, at least for the S line, custom rom support is very good. On my S7 i found an debloated and deodexed OneUI rom that gave me better performance and battery life than stok android while keeping the camera and audio processing stuff, i was stuck at android 9 but i did not care because the phone would still be very good to use.
Up until a week ago, I was using my Pixel 3 with LineageOS installed. You can hide root and there are Magisk modules to pass 2/3 safetynet checks (impossible to do all 3, you need to have your bootloader locked which isn't possible in this case). It gets through all apps but 2. One I had to solve by installing the latest version that didn't have a timebomb _and_ strict checks. I could have done a similar thing with another as it didn't even have checks before. One thing I can say is, if you don't mind tinkering around, installing a custom ROM can be a good way of extending the usage of your phone.
There's only one nitpick i have from watching your videos, try not use the SFX when you have the word pops up too much. Somehow it ruins my experience listening to it. Try using more subtle ones might improve the overall stuff. Try using minimal and modern ones instead of the current SFX. that's all from me. Hope you gain more subs in the future. 🤝🏻 Love the video and I'm thinking of doing it once my 11T Pro comes with no support or lags in the future. Anyhow, goodluck mate! Cheers!

6:24 man, I truly forgot just how horribly some of those skins have aged, like the LG phone. HTC Sense on the other hand was always so nice and intentional with its design, even if it looks quite dated today.
I just got myself an old Iphone se when my old phone broke and it is good investment so far, it is small and slim the only issue is battery life, mostly screen on time and I might look to upgrade the battery once it has degraded bellow 80%
Custom roms make a lot of sense for older devices....im currently using linesge os on an old samsung m series of mine...and its much better than one ui cuz its lighter...performance and battery life is soooo good
I tried a custom rom on my s6 last week, the rom is faster and because it's a updated android version lets you install apps that requiere newer versions of android, but the problem is that the camera is turned into garbage, the major of the custom roms camera app is pretty bad and for some reason doesn't even support 1080p 60fps video recording, and the original rom has it, and i'm not even talking about the loss of image quality
This ROM for some reason took photos at 8MP too a lot of people in the comments did tell me to try a Google camera mod, but it did not work properly for me
@@Sankew i installed this google camera, but if the camera app of the rom is bad, it ends up limiting the google camera too, looks like the camera resolution and fps is built in the kernel of the rom, and if the camera part of the kernel is bad no app will be able to improve this

This remembered me that I once just for sake of lolz on Galaxy Grand Prime (1GB RAM, 8GB ROM, microSD support and with new/ish replacement battery) Android 11 GO Edition with damn LineageOS GO Edition which I found on xda as I went let me see if there is some newer ROM so I can use this phone now as media playback device, and sure enough, it god darn worked. Stupid app that I used on Stock 5.0.2 was crashing and updated version needed at least Android version 7.0 and newer. Phone is still on that ROM and got me back into custom ROM scene, but without rooting because of banking apps as my now old Redmi Note 9 Pro (Global/joyeuse) is rocking some kind of HyperOS Android 14 port while main phone Poco F5 is on official ROM and will get custom ROM timing when I replace it within next 2 years :) Who would know that random app will return me back into custom ROM scene flashing and experimenting on various older devices.
What’s happening with custom roms in 2024 is the same thing that’s happening with Jailbreak on iOS, there are less and less reasons to do it because Apple has added pretty much every feature people jailbroke for.
Imo custom ROMs only make sense to make older phone more usable, for newer phones it's easier to just root it and apply only patches you need, like uninstalling bloatware and changing UI with iconify. Aside from privacy I can't see a reason to switch from Android 14 stock to Android 14 custom ROM, especially considering lost features.

Niceeee bro im right now typing on a romed samsung tablet now running android 12
The editing in the video is very nice, what program do you use to edit?
❤❤❤ good videa as always sankew
To fix Play Integrity you could have rooted it and installed "fix play integrity" module in magisk.
Btw great video!
I've been considering buying a pixel 9 to upgrade from my iphone 13 mini and to put it on there over the stock google one.
i tried my best, but yes i could've talked about GrapheneOS, thank you so much
One video enough for me to sub amazing content
Still can't believe that this is an Indian Tech video that didn't make me wanna close it asap.
This phone was sick when I had it, loved using it and modding it when it was still a new phone
You can have gcam installed it improves the camera quality very much 😊
Bro you got yourself a new sub❤
There's only one nitpick i have from watching your videos, try not use the SFX when you have the word pops up too much. Somehow it ruins my experience listening to it. Try using more subtle ones might improve the overall stuff. Try using minimal and modern ones instead of the current SFX. that's all from me. Hope you gain more subs in the future. 🤝🏻 Love the video and I'm thinking of doing it once my 11T Pro comes with no support or lags in the future. Anyhow, goodluck mate! Cheers!
Can you please do a custom ROM for Huawei mate 20 Pro
If you are able to buy that phone please install custom rom and do a review on that phone
Not possible Bro, you can't unlock bootloader on huswei
You can still use the Play Integrity Fix module for Play Integrity, that's how I still daily drive my 1+9pro on a rom
did try that, but it kept on failing for some reason
@@Sankewisn't the roms build type "userdebug", if so that's why it's failing.
@@Sankew Ouch yeah, Google has been banning a lot of fingerprints for Play Integrity, there used to be a few thousand of them, now it's just a few. GrapheneOS is trying to take action against Google, but I doubt they'll win anything.
@@Sankew its failng bcz of google's new fkup of signing builds,,if the rom isnt signed it wont passs play intrigity even after flashing pif modules, thats why new roms are being signed with private keys to pass device inbtrigity adn some rom having strong intrigity too
You have earned a sub, a lot of people who (I’m not being racist or racially insensitive I’m just saying what is true) you have pro editing and also most Indians or non English speaking videos, it’s quite hard to watch, but your videos were just like the large channels. Honestly I love your videos and how your content isn’t hard to watch
You can also get around the banking apps...i used to do it all the time. Your phone is rooted now so you can definitely do it.
Hair gets crazier
I use Narzo 50. But I was too disappointed in the software section. Then I flashed in PixelOS then... I fix my software related problem and also get unlimited storage backup!!! Even I get amazing pictures shots using this ROM..
This confirms my theory. Rubbish & bloated software is what kills the hardware usability. It's not age or mhz.
Can you please make a next video on Samsung s6 play some games like bgmi etc some heavy games so those who want a faster device they can install custom rom on their device ❤
10K in one month? Buddy u deserve in 1M in one month 🤩
We need same video for Samsung S8. I'm sure this won't disappoint you
I do have one, probably a future video
@@Sankew Im waiting btw your explanation is very easy to understand and make for s10, im currently using that
Omg so well edited
Great content. Subbed 💯
Happy 9k bro ❤❤❤
I have a usa version galaxy s7 so can't even put lineage on it.
Its a SM-G930T. (Tmobile sd820)
Times when exynos was much better than snapdragon and snapdragon had the worst custom rom support.
Lets just hope that s7 doesnt explode like others😂
@@dewaldsteyn1306 it was the note 7 not s7
Helpful & informative one video I found about Custom ROMs
"edge" ☠️
Great video btw
You deserve 2 million subscribers!❤
Do a video with 13 mini
i custom romed my galaxy note 8 with lineageos 20 and its working really great
You are the first ¿indian? youtuber that I've watched a video till the end. Amazing video.
You deserve a million subscribers bro❤
6:24 man, I truly forgot just how horribly some of those skins have aged, like the LG phone. HTC Sense on the other hand was always so nice and intentional with its design, even if it looks quite dated today.
Sense was one of the best back then
😂literally my day life without a good camera to create a yt video..hope i'll be there soon
This ROM for some reason took photos at 8MP too
a lot of people in the comments did tell me to try a Google camera mod, but it did not work properly for me
@@Sankew i installed this google camera, but if the camera app of the rom is bad, it ends up limiting the google camera too, looks like the camera resolution and fps is built in the kernel of the rom, and if the camera part of the kernel is bad no app will be able to improve this
Hopefully they do fix the kernel
@@Sankew it's a old phone, and programming is very hard, it's unlikely any developer will take so much effort and time on a phone that few people still use
@vinilomelhorpresente4622 that’s very much true, I’m still in shock how someone put in the effort to make an Android 13 ROM for this phone
What’s happening with custom roms in 2024 is the same thing that’s happening with Jailbreak on iOS, there are less and less reasons to do it because Apple has added pretty much every feature people jailbroke for.
true
and many phones are offering near stock android experiences like pixel, nothing, motorola, nokia, etc etc
