Yes. Purdy maintains a good awareness of the defenders coming in at him. He makes little moves that creates time. The level of athletic ability of the defenders is a big difference compared to college. In college an opposing team might have one or two who might make it to the NFL. He has caught on well moving up to the NFL and he's going to keep on improving.

What people underestimate about Brock, and what separates him from many other qbs is his anticipation. The bottom half of the league starters feel the need to see a receiver open before they let it rip, most of the time it’s already too late. Brock consistently lets it rip right on time, and I think the bad misses we’ve seen is a product of the receivers and Brock still getting on the same page with this. We haven’t had a qb like this in a very long time.

Still extremely impressive and as another die hard niner fan my whole life I’m finally excited about a qb we picked up. It feels great.

Brock Purdy is the Rodney Dangerfield of the NFL..he gets no respect. He's undefeated as a rookie in games he's started and finished yet most of the talking heads on the sports shows keep saying he is really not that good, it's just the 'system' that's making him look good. He can go 23/30 with 300 yds, 3 tds and no picks and it's..ya, but did you see those two passes he missed, a good QB would not have missed those. Would like to see the stats of some HOF QBs of their first ten games as rookie QBs...bet they are pretty close to Purdy's

I'll play devil's advocate. BP nearly threw 3-4 INTs that game. He looked terrible the first half that's a fact. Seriously. 300 yards? He had 8 completions behind the LOS. Cheesy predictable screen passes to debo and CMC. And yes they are predictable especially on 3rd and long. Yes he definitely had 3 solid throws I'll give you that. Jimmy g started off like 16-2 remember? I member. BP lacks velocity especially throwing the slant. See it for yourself.. personally I do like BP but he has way to much talent to lose against non playoff teams. We both know the facts about the QBs in shanahans system 17-23 220 1 or 2 tds. So far BP has gotten so lucky not throwing an int but it'll definitely come.

Any QB would have had a bad first half in those circumstances. The fact is, he turned the same game into the best one of his career. He has the eye of the tiger when it matters most, and THAT is what we like about him. Its not the raw passing stats or even interceptions. There's magic in the air when he plays. We can feel it. All we've known in the QB position is fear and despair since Steve young played.... literally 25 years of terror and anguish. Brock is our Dante that has come to lead us from the abyss.

It's not like there was no tape on this guy from college. 4 year starter, 12K yards, 151 passer rating. IMO too much emphasis is being placed on athleticism at the QB position. They'd rather have a dual threat QB who can't and may never be able to throw the ball in the NFL.

Purdy was tremendous at Iowa State. There is not a defensive coordinator in the Big 12 who is surprised by what he is doing in the NFL. He never gets phased. He goes through his progressions. He might not have the biggest arm, but he is not going to make the dumb mistakes that lose games very often. He has the perfect situation at SF. Huge amount of talent around him, and he gets that talent the ball where they can do something with it. You can tell his teammates and coaches trust and believe in him. The rest of the league screwed up by letting the 49ers get him - he has the brains to be Shanahan's perfect general.

That was amazing for a first video. Until you said that, I'd just assumed you'd been used to doing these kinda things for a fair while. First vid I've seen, was great and sent it to a friend to watch. Purdy looks great - he's got that thing that strong QBs have; knowing how much time he has in the pocket to work with. Plus, your vid shows, he's good very good at reading things. Right now, to me at least, Purdy seems in a similar bracket as Mahomes, Hurts and Burrow in being assured with knowing how much time he has to work with and no knowing some of his options pretty much off the bat.

Reading this just now. Thanks so much. You did a very good job boiling it down.
Suggest you switch to a catchy name, though, like "Niners on Tape" or "Niner Tape 101" or something like that.
Perhaps other people reading this can make other suggestions.

There are QB's that just have that swagger when they get up to the line ..... all you have to do is watch his eyes as he lines up behind center....he knows where everybody is....he's reading the defense and making decisions before he even snaps the ball. You can tell by his eyes.....he's cool, calm, collective., he doesn't panic., and he throws dimes when it counts IN THE ENDZONE and MOST IMPORTANTLY, He's SMART. He throws it away and doesn't make many mistakes. Three games and they've scored 30 points in each game. I'm a huge Jimmy G Fan, but look at the difference in offensive points since Purdy has been QB. Raiders are still sputtering out after one drive. If anyone thinks this has nothing to do with the QB play of Brock Purdy., they don't know football and they haven't watched any tape of what's really going on. Ever since he started, the offense has had a great rhythm .... reminds me of the days with Montana and Young. The QB position is NOT just about stats, and amazing flashy plays. For Christ sakes, how many boring games did Tom Brady play with the Patriots tossing screens for 35 yards. ANYONE who doesn't give this kid credit for what he's proven just doesn't want to admit that their boy LANCE was a bust and PURDY is the REAL DEAL.
