Over the last 6 months I’ve done a complete 180 on my own life. ↪️ Last year I left my corporate career and this year I left a long relationship of almost 11 years (going through divorce now). While the decisions were very hard to make, it was more painful to stay where I was at knowing I’m destined for greater things that are ALIGNED TO ME. To some I may look like a different person but to me I am stepping into who I really am, and always was - deep down inside. ✨
As kids, we are we are carefree and do what we love. However, we are also impressionable and can mold ourselves into an idea of a person that others have for you. This is through observing our parents, teachers, people on TV, etc. 👨‍👩‍👧 👩‍🏫 📺
In addition, I am happy that I shone the light on my shadows and began doing housekeeping. I discovered that the reason I did bad habits like drinking, not working out, eating poorly, etc was because I didn’t love myself and valued the pursuit of money more than maintaining and thriving as a human being alone.
We aren’t taught how to love ourselves in schools or our parents or our friends. It’s something you discover within you. It’s a lifelong journey.
I showed love to my self by stepping inwards and coming back to the hobbies I had as a kid - reading 📖 , biking 🚲, making RUclips videos 🎥, traveling ✈️ (with parents when I was young), swimming 🏊‍♀️ , singing 🎤, dancing 💃, and more. I showed love to myself by listening to my body and providing the care and attention she needs, staying away from harmful things and bringing in the positive.
Your old life ends once you decided you love yourself and your new life begins. 🤍✨
