There is usually 2 timpanists in the Planets, but only one here who needs to do lots of pedaling with both feet at 4:14 on drums 2 and 3 (tuning while playing) = crazy! Notice the right foot moving at 4:35.
As Paul said, this is a concert band, while the original piece was written for orchestra. There's plenty of great recordings of the original here on RUclips.

Incredibly well done. One of my favorite pieces ever composed.
So beautifully done. And that subtle page turn without even having to look down and body still fully turned/engaged at musicians.
Outstanding!
*YES*
Fantastic performance.
This reminds me of being back in high school band. Thx guys! Time to get my chops back lol
Unbelievable - A sonic masterpiece. Goosebumps.
just so happen to be playing this in my wind ensemble
rigby250 It's a beautiful piece
Wow!
What a great arrangement! There are even many parts where I think it sounds better without the strings.
I would like an explanation from the one person who disliked

Newest Trumpets Attend Me?
Didn’t Holst collaborate with the transcription for band?
Is it just me or there is just a complete absence of strings here.

@@pearspeedruns - Holst also wrote an arrangement of this for Wind Band. That's the arrangement the "President's Own" is playing.
no eb clarinet🥺
There was never an E♭ clarinet
What key is this in? Can’t seem to play along with my band music in Bb (2nd trombone)
This sounds like the orchestral version in C but arranged for band (odd considering the band version is Bb)
0:13 Poor Timpani player
Yeah, it is a 2 timpani part and he has to do it all in one
I thought they were dressed up as Mario at first glance 🤦♂️
i loved it but it seemed a little slow in a few spots.
Shae Hawk Ahh, musical interpretation…
