Barn shed remodel time lapse

  • This was a job we did for an old farmer who just wanted a place to park his tractor.
    The old barn wood was not worth saving, so please don't hate us for disposing of it. I have a friend who deals in reclaimed lumber and if it would have been worth anything he would have taken it.

    For all future commenters... READ THE DESCRIPTION! 1) It was a job they did for an old farmer. 2) he explains about the wood. Goodness people are so dang critical and cant take 5 seconds to read what he put that probably would have stopped about half of these comments. He did what the customer asked for. You cannot fault him for doing that. Is it a little odd yes.. but it's what the customer asked for. Maybe there is stuff being stored in the other part of the barn that the farmer has no other place to put it. People are so dang quick to judge.

    When I first saw that building, I thought, geez, just ripped the whole thing down. However as I read in the comments these are guys who were hired to do this, this is not their own property. So they are just doing what the owner asked them to do. Too bad the owner doesn't have more sense.

For example, there are hundreds of designs ruclips.net/user/postUgkxb2mhCug-GkCWrq69Ce2I0nM0D4QpxAqu for outdoor buildings, from small sheds all the way up to a complete stable. Old grown from slow natured forest grains are close and have been helped by live thru storms ,wind, element to strengthen. Home build before 1970 still stand most buildings after gone in several years. Man change to make progress, mother nature does to last. Who would you really want to build you home

      Cant believe you didnt put the wood at the side of the road. Where Im from it would be gone in a day to someone who knows what to do with that great old wood, like me. Yea and whats with doing a half new barn. Restore the old one and build a new one somewhere else. I really thought you were going to take off the old wood, rebuild the under structure and put the old wood back. Anybody could do what you did, I guess Im old and dont understand . Some day you may look back and say gee why didnt I think of that. By the way I dont punctuate.......takes up too much time, Im spending my time restoring my 1930 Model A pick up, no not hot rodding it. Get my drift? By the way I built my barn 3 years ago and spent most of the time making it look old.

      @jimthesoundman8641 4 года назад +10

      @MrMotleyfan Plus the best thing about wood is that you can salvage it over and over. If you tear down a barn you can make a table with it, if you tear up the table you can make a chair, if you tear up the chair you can make a stool, if you tear up the stool you can make a drawer and if you tear up the drawer you can make a jewelry box, so throwing away wood that isn't rotten is a real crime.
      Wood is one of the most amazing substances on earth. All that wooden stuff in King Tut's tomb, furniture, boats, etc is still looking good after 3300 years.

    • @TimWatson100

      Ricky Pyle yeah we use ground contact pressure treated post and put concrete around the post and nothing under it so it can drain.

    • @Joshua79C
      @Joshua79C 4 года назад

      @@TimWatson100 - The way you did it it's still going to rot, "treated" means very little in this harsh world. Unless you put a protector sleeve on it, surrounding it with concrete is is as bad if not worse than putting it bare into the ground. Just look up images of rot cases, there is plenty images to find of ground and cement encased rot. Best way to go is a bracket set into the concrete if the precast permacolumn is out of the customers budget or their lack of intelligence about it.
