I have OTR experience. Starting with Millis next week for a SE regional route driver.

Millis is where I got my start in the late 90's.

You're are most likely on point on your guess. Freight is low. Things like hometime are a big consideration. What loads are going to be available where you are going with the load you are grabbing now is also a big consideration. The dispatcher tries to avoid sending you into a low or no freight area. They want to make sure there is something to pick up once you are done at the destination of your current load. My dead head has been very minimal as of late, but that may be just how it worked out. I've dead headed significant miles at times in the past and also been laid over. I was laid over twice my last 3 weeks out. I hope you had a good Thanksgiving! :-) I'm leaving out today. Probably won't come back home until close to Christmas.

Red doors are probably fire exits. Likely set off alarms if you actually get one open... She should have mentioned that, just to avoid confusion for the drivers who actually listen to directions enough to figure it out. The rest of the drivers who don't listen get to work harder than the ones who do.
