My uncle has a small three bedroom house. He converted a closet into a bathroom with a toilet and corner sink. Cost him 1800 in product ( plumbing was what got him ) and labor was $400 a day ( 2 man operation). It took 3 days to complete and it looks great. He said the key in doing these types of conversions is to find someone who can utilize every inch of Space to its fullest and be creative! When asked why he did not add a shower he said “ two people can shower in the same tub at the same time but two people can’t go number two in the same toilet at the the same time , priorities)

Lol 8k actually sounds like a decent price to me. People forget there’s a lot of expenses that go into running new water pipes and waste water and sewage, that’s three new pipes that are needing to be routed all over the home and probably costing at least 2-3k in labor alone! The materials including fixtures, paint, lights, switches, tiles, woods, waterproofing, etc, are about 2k and then the bathroom install is probably 2-3k and new electric is about 500$ from nearby source. The contractor hardly made a profit, maybe 1k and he’s probably your average Joe who’s doing all the work himself.

    • @marcmarc2598

No a big deal run vent and sewage pipe still say all could be done for 3k contractors ripping people over again.

It just depends. I did a full bath in the upstairs of my last house for less than the cost of the sink. Had two very small rooms across the hall from each other. One was an unused closet and the other a weird skinny long space just big enough for a twin bed and dresser. Both had windows. Didn't need the tiny "bedroom" since the house had three other normal sized upstairs bedrooms up and another down with full bathroom. The smaller space was big enough for a standard sized toilet and sink and had the stack for the downstairs toilet in the wall right by where I wanted the toilet. The larger space had an unused pipe in the wall that was the vent for the previous kitchen sink location.
I bought the cheapest new toilet I could find. Bought a used wall sink with faucets for maybe $20. Got a huge used clawfoot tub for $100 in good condition. Did my own plumbing, which wasn't difficult given how everything was arranged. Electrical was just what was preexisting, and no vents were needed since both rooms had windows. Painted the walls and put in vinyl flooring...done. Probably had a little over $300 in the project.

@@Sara-wv3ms Thanks! The biggest "Aha" moment was when I realized the toilet could be in a different room than the tub, and actually made the projects possible. As a matter of fact, it was desirable since my stepson could use the tub without depriving his sister of use of the toilet and sink.
