Just wanna throw my 2 cents in on this one. In my experience, the biggest problem people have with breaking strings is knowing how much slack to give yourself once you thread it through the tuning peg. Too little slack and you end up snapping the string, too little and you end up with a wadded mess on the peg from winding it too many timea to get tight. I've found that pulling it tight through the peg, and then pulling back one fret length from the nut gives enough slack to make at least 3 revolutions to give you a neat coil on the peg. Hope this helps someone, and if anyone else has any tips I'd love to hear them!
I play mine often and have never changed my strings in the 3 years I've had my guitar, except for that pesky G string.. Partially because I lost the sets I had, and partially from fear of breaking a perfectly brand new string again from improperly stringing it through the tuner. Now that I found those sets of strings, I holding off until I can get materials to clean and polish the fretboard and possibly a saddle, nut, and/or bridge pins made from a different material.
Been playing for 27 years and just realized there’s a peg puller on the string winder. Next, Your gonna tell me there’s more than three chords or something else I’ve got to be overlooking.
Finally! Someone who actually knows how to teach a skill to another human being. I've gone through so many packs of strings trying to follow along with other videos. This one is perfect!
I've been changing ( acoustic ) guitar strings for 36 years, and I still turn my head away in fear of the string breaking and losing an eyeball when I start cranking the tuning head.
Yes, same for me. I place a bath towel over the strings as I put them in running the entire length of the scale exposing only the very top where the crank is, and many times even the crank is covered as I crank. I feel it gives me the safe peace of mind as I do this work and especially after the string settles for a few minutes. Not until the string has settled for a few minutes do I start to slowly tune up all of them as I would normally do to check or set them to an initial lower tuning; mine is well below the standard A440 until the strings have stretched for a day. As you can read here, I am no performer in need of a quick change back to the tighter tensions, and only play casually at home. The towel has been great a few time when he first string (E) snapped and I was so glad I had that towel on there. I hate that feel just before it snaps. Had a few of these E and B strings snap so the towel thing is the best.
That happened with me today.... First time changing I broke one..... I was like stay optimistic..... I continued with the rest... then broke another...... Then with the B and E high (I broke that one) and E low (also broke) i was like nope i will get help from someone 🤣🤣 Feel too scared to even touch my guitar now🥺🥺
I usually change my string every 6 months or so. I wash my hand before playing and clean my guitar daily. Also, I used Elixir nano coated strings, partly because my favorite finger-style guitarist, Sunha Jung, uses them. I thought it was just pure marketing crap at first but these strings last many times longer than the Martins and D’dario. A guitar is like a friend you can talk to when you are happy or sad or whatever mood you are in. A large portion of the sound quality comes from the guitar body, not the strings, so just make sure to cherish your guitar by cleaning and storing properly. That is the best advice you will ever get.
do your ears really like elixirs. stringjoy is about to introduce coated strings that are reported to sound better than uncoated strings. in my opinion, elixirs are dull from the beginning. yeah, they stay as new for quite a while, but their as new sounds very, very dull to me.
I was unaware not changing strings meant you don't love your guitar... I would rather think he must have an unbelievable price discount on strings to have a brand new pack every 2 weeks
(1) Very important to put the bridge pins back in the same order (2) A good idea to check & tighten the machine head post retaining nuts while you have the strings off. They get loose from playing and can create a vibration. (3) OMG.....I thought I was the only one who bent the string near the ball before installation. Never saw anyone else EVER do that.....BRAVO you are good. (4) After tuning guitar to pitch I give the strings a good pull at the bridge. I always hear the strings pop a little in the bridge pin grooves. Makes the guitar settle down & stay in tune better. ++++Best regards from a guitar repairman since 1974++++++++
A set isn't too expensive. Some people smoke, that costs money, imagine those people didnt smoke, boom, they can get strings. I have a friend who does both and drinks a lot, god knows how. Lmao
Had my guitar for two weeks. Managed to break my high E (the little tiny one.). So I found you on RUclips and got out my new strings. Only took all afternoon, but my guitar sounds great! Thank you!
Great video! I am a completely new guitar player, and my second string snapped, so I needed a guide on how to replace my strings. I love your personality and enthusiasm, and you have the mannerisms of a good teacher/instructor. Keep up the awesome work!
Don't forget string maintenance once they're on there! * Always wash your hands before playing. * Always wipe the strings when you've finished playing. * Store the guitar properly when not playing. * String cleaning products work wonders for keeping the strings in good condition for longer.
Tip: don't worry about keeping the string in the nut slot, it will pop in there by itself. It's better to use both your hands to manipulate the strings around the tuning peg. Also make sure to bend the string around the tuning peg as soon as you can to keep it from popping off while you wind up the string
I like how it’s not just a basic tutorial video but he talks about favourite record and butterflies and things like that, what is of course not necessary but makes the video interesting.
Awesome tutorial. Was tuning up to open E and broke a string a week after i bought a new ibanez talman accoustic/electric. Waiting on my new strings to get here!
Thank you very much for this. Tonight I changed my guitar strings for the first time and I was getting immensely frustrated until I found your video. Your advice was fantastic, and suggesting that I grab a drink and put on some tunes while I work was the best of them all - calmed me right down! All the best.
Liked the video. Personally I would recommend one additional step. Since it's also easier to do when the string are off, I like to snug up the tuner post nuts in case they have come loose, which they can tend to do. I have a mini crescent wrench in my toolbox just for this job. My two cents.
thank you I have been playing over 40 years and have always done it another way, evidently not the best way... but has always worked for me. I wrap the new strings around the tuner posts about 2 or 3 times then stick the string through the hole and bend/crimp it backwards then hold the end with needle nose pliers as I tighten them and tune it up. I think I like your ways better. thanks again learned something new today will try this out tonight. peace
Yep, can vouch for Elixer strings too. They last really well, and easily keep their tone for twice as long as other brands I've tried. I personally wouldn't bother trying any other strings on my acoustics, I reckon they sound fantastic.
Well explained, this really helped. It's the winding on part I have struggled with before. Pay attention to winding on in the correct direction and always have more than 1 set of strings around. I had to redo 2 strings as I messed that up on the higher side. Try and keep strings fairly tight as you wind on. I prefer the over-under method but it's great that he shows you both. I like his manner and it's a great idea to take your time and relax. I also cleaned and conditioned the fretboard while the strings were off. My end result is way better than the last time and "No one needs to get stabbed" is always great advice.
Very nice tutorial; and cleverly entertaining! (I change strings about every 6 months; I have 14 guitars, and it's about all the time I'll devote to it! ☺)... I was the keyboard player in the Paradox of Freedom band in Pittsburgh (late 1960s-early 1970's). Pete Messina our lead guitar player (cousin of the Loggins of the Loggins & Messina duo), and lead singer/guitar Bob Negley never cut all the strings short at the winder end, (they left about a 4" stub on a couple of them)... It's where they stuck/stored their lit Lucky Strikes while we were playing.... The good old days... (RIP Bob; you were the best!)
After 30 years of guitars I still picked up a few tips. Thanks!Hey,by the way,I like to coil the extra string at the post about the size of a nickel, then line up the coils so they are uniform. It looks pretty cool.(I do get stabbed a lot doing that, though.)
Hey Tony - thanks for the video - I have always paid someone to change the strings on my Fender however they went out of business so this is the first time in 25 years I have actually changed the strings myself - SUCCESS!! It is done and now I am good to go every month - thanks again
Tony, pretty much my style as well. And, it is a great meditative 30-45 minutes to change strings and wiping down your guitar. Quality time with self and guitar.
Instead of cutting the old string, tune to pitch and observe it on the tuner post to check if it has the correct number of winds. If it needs adjustment calculate this and then remove the string in one piece. Now place the new string alongside the old pulled-out string (you can slide a nail through both ball-ends) and put new 90 deg bend in the correct place and fit new string. This way each string will have a good amount of winds with no knots or tucks and will never slip and changing strings will always be easy.
This was so much fun to watch! Made changing my acoustic guitar strings a breeze. It's my first time changing them (I'm a beginner) and I bought the same brand you're using.
I love the way you explain things. Thank you. There is a ton of negativity on RUclips but you made this very succinct and clear. Keep it up and thank you.
My parents disowned me. They said they gave birth to one kind of tone and they can't support my transformation into becoming a different kind. Thanks a lot.
Since lockdown happened in March 2020 I took up the ukulele and have a few now with a banjolele and a bit of experience. But yesterday I was in the loft I found my old guitar from when I was 16 that I never learnt to play with one string broken, I had got frustrated trying to learn it, and I thought it was lost forever. Its been 14 years since I've seen it and that's why I'm here. Hopefully my Uke knowledge can ease me into guitar a bit better this time around. Thanks for the great info in the vid
My mom bought me my guitar when I was 15! I'm 24 now and finally changed the strings out hahaha!! I really started learning this January and when I change strings it sounded so beautiful.
Hey Tony! I’m also a Tach member, when you said you typically swap your strings out every two weeks I was floored man! Even once a month you’re making me feel bad lol! I usually change mine around every 6 months but I’ll definitely look into doing it more often 🤣👍
Can't change em that often! Wow!...However, great video, Tony! Nice demo on strings 4,5 & 6. Never seen it done that way! Followed you during the AL days and glad to see you still goin' strong...
bro thank you so much i didn't know how to change my string before my concert and i watched your video and got lucky enough to be on time for my concert. Thank you and keep the vids comin. :)
He probably does that because he seems pretty OCD, not just changing strings all the time, but making sure there are no old strings laying around. I couldn't count all the shows I've been able to finish because I kept a couple sets of old strings, just in case.
“Grab your string winder tool”...looks at right hand, “check” “Grab your wire cutters”...looks at tin snips, “check” “Grab your tool to pull wire plugs”...looks at vice grips, “check” Ya I’m ready to ready to rock and roll baby
Funny, for my 40 years in the repair biz, we've called your "over / under" method the "pinching" method and the "crimp" or "Martin "method we've called the "locking" method. Of course, you also call it "playing the guitar" while we use the much more common phrase "Payin' the StewMac".
Tony - thanks for the advice! I just re-strung my guitar with a new set of strings from a manufacturer I have never tried before. Trying something new. I strung the guitar with the "over-under" method shown. Then I strummed a simple A Major chord. My Martin never sounded this good! Thanks for getting me to try some new strings.
well, depends on how often one plays a acoustic, on mine as i play electric all of the time and just use a pedal mostly to switch between electric and acoustic, i change mine on acoustic every other month
These strings have been on for a year. I have played about 2 hours 5/6 nights a week. I am down to the bottom two strings changing them out now. Can’t wait to hear a little better tone. Thank you for the great video.
7:15 I'm gonna try the method u did with the 3 bass strings and use it on the 3 high strings. That other method where u overlap the high string looks kinda difficult, and I'm scared that I might mess up the bending part and ruin the string
Tony, been with you for a few years, Enjoyed! Long story short, I went through 6 guitar exchanges (New) till the Luthier worked on #6,he Set it up so Perfectly, I'm scared to death to change strings(I know how) .. BUT, watching this video Calms me down! So as soon as I start feeling better(medical) I'll have you on in the background, just to keep me in a Good place,.. Thanks so much. Your videos Live On 👍💕
Back in '73 I bought a 1942 Martin that looked just like that from a Bluegrass music store outside of Ft. Worth. Had to leave the guitar for rent money a few years later, but it was the best guitar I ever had (or played). Glad to see one again.
Thanks so much! You made everything make sense. I wasn't too worried because I figured if I got in a bind my dad could help me. He used to be in a rock band. When I started getting nervous, I asked him for help. Turns out, he always asked his bandmembers to tune his guitar because he never could figure out how to do it. So, back to your video! It seems it was mostly nerves. After about 5 bad tries, I got that first string on there. The rest felt easy. The strings are holding, my guitar is staying in tune, and everything seems to be perfect! Thanks for telling us to pour a nice drink and put on music or whatever else would help to chill out. It made all the difference. :)
Watched your video and I want to say that you did an excellent job showing both methods for re-stringing the guitar. I have been playing for over 30 years and I didn't have anyone to teach me when first started playing. What a mess that was until someone showed me how. I use the Martin crimp method on all my strings when I re-string flat wounds. It seems to be more stable. Both methods, when I use a combination of rounds on E A and D. Wish I had access to something like this video 30 years ago. Would have prevented all that string slippage and intonation problems in my early days. Lol
usefull tip: The best moment to clean your guitar perfectly is when there are no strings on it :D! Sounds like everyone already knows that, but you'd be surprised how many people forget to clean it haha :d
I have changed strings with the intention to clean, then get distracted and next thing you know the strings are back on....Doh!....guess I will clean next time.
thak you very much..VERY much for not doing that twirly thing people do when stringing on the post.. makes the string hard to remover if you're playing live and the tech has to do it fast.. you rock.. thanks
This is a great video, thanks for the concise instructions. I wind my strings exactly like you've demonstrated, using both methods. I have a couple of comments : I never cut the old strings, I take them off and roll them up nice and tight and keep them for when a string breaks. Breaks on an acoustic are rare I know, but it does happen. Also, I'd tell people, and demo it, to stretch the strings by pulling upward after the initial tuning....then, each next time you re-tune the string becomes more stable.
on my electric I just used to play massive bends over a backing track constantly on new strings, and tune up intermittently. Fun way to get them stretched
I so wanted to hear those retro strings on your 00015 (?)! Was waiting for you to play us a few bars! Did you like them? What are your usual strings for that baby? ? Thanks so much for the video. Had a friend show me but thanks for the review!
+sussezq The Retro strings on my 0-17 are now my go to strings for that guitar. I absolutely love them for that guitar!!! They bring out the warmth and are just a perfect match :-) Glad you dig the video!!!
I am dying for a D15.. but can't justify the expense quite yet... not been playing long enough.. but someday. Thanks for the info... hope it comes in handy in the future!
Thanks for the great video. The shots did a good job of illustrating what you were describing, and the descriptions were very clear. Appreciate the help.
Lot's of good information that I've not heard before. (The Pencil graphite was nice) Two things though. A.) what do you keep doing to your finger? B.) where you consuming adult beverages before shooting this? Keep it up glad to have you back on the youtubes.
PikaPikachu2 I hope that's sarcasm. If it was, it could've been better. Especially given that it's his left hand. A guitar slide would've been more believable. Now I'm curious on how that thing would perform if used as a guitar slide.
Sweet, I used this guide to change strings on my guitar for the first time. Worked well! I've had my guitar for more than one year now and there was a huge difference in sound (for the better), used the same type of strings (fenders own brand).
Thanks! I just changed the strings on my Larrivee and put Martins on. They fought with each other for a while but both eventually came around. I use your video every time I change strings.
This is the best string changing tutorial all the others lead me down a dark path of Breaking many strings and funky looking headstocks And a lot of frustration but not with this guy his path leads to a Beautiful tonel transformation
Here’s a tip no one asked for: Always wash your hands before playing guitar and wipe them down with a clean cloth after every playing session. That way they last about three months and the sound gets better before it gets worse around the three month mark. 👌🏻
Joshua Adams took the words right outta my mouth, no one ever seems to adress this
oh my gosh thank you i was struggling with this.
Another good guide is to use the distance between two tuning posts.
The Fender stringing video recommends 1.5 times the distance between two tuning posts.
Thanks for the tip! I finally reached the age where If can do it right I will!
I haven’t changed my strings in 14 years and it still sounds like crap👍🏼
Maybe they're not broken in yet. Did you do that "12th fret stretch"
he was talking about?
LMFAO 😂😂dude you just took some of my depression away... Lol...
hahahaah
Consistency is key. Whatever you do, don't change them now.
*Its not the strings*
2 weeks? I change my strings once every 10 years.
yeah but A/you suck B/you probably play once every 10 years...
+Fark I change mine every 3 months cause I'm poor
i change it only after it breaks
Ankit Pradhan I just buy a new guitar.I hate changing strings

No more than three chords if you stick to cowboy music.
What three chords?
lol
Chord? You mean moving your finger around in Drop D?
F A C C :v

no one tells you to put on a good record and relax!!! most important. this is the best tutorial ever
In the comments: People who change their strings so rarely that they have to watch a tutorial every time they do. (I think it's been 2 years for me.)
Exactly why I’m here, don’t change a thing until one breaks. Legit forgot the two methods.
My guitar was handed down to me. I don't think the strings have been replaced for at least three years. I don't intend to until necessary either.
@@freelancernova4364 A little polishing and your comment would make for great song lyrics.
Me one of those.
5:52 That's what she said
thanx
7.01 that's what HE said.
ThomasProz my goodness you guys are hilarious
absolutely amazing lol
I CAN'T BREATHE
This man must really love his guitar if he changes his strings every 2 weeks
And the string people really love him...
Its because like some of us we play a lot of guitar in just 2 weeks

once every 2 weeks!!
this guys made of money my friends 😁
no kidding
rrrof711 Yes, the strings still sound good, ever so slight discoloration and still has a good feel to it.

kevo1978 they're like £10 hun
well, only if he's using DR, cleartone, or Elixirs! you can get martins cheap and if you use gearsupply, they make it pretty painless, too.
1:58 Doesn't sounds bad tho that's Drop Q
Ahahah lets have more songs in Drop Q
That’s Open Q actually
U made this like a bob ross episode
Lol
Lol its funyy
Joy of stringing lol
Honestly glad I didn't cut my strings. My low E snapped while stringing, time to temporarily use the old one until I can amazon a new one :(
Wishing I had done this :(
This guy is very theatrical and I enjoy his sense of humor . Nice job thanks
no one needs to get stabbed in a tonal transformation!!

@violet's channel Same. Mine snapped while tuning and it was new...😢
The "under-and-over" method for the thinner strings works perfectly with perfect winds every time. Thank you!
I just buy a new guitar with new strings preinstalled......much...much easier....
And much much expensive
Lol.
Yeah true! I'll try this method next time. Great tip!
@Denis Zolotarski I think he was joking. Lol.
That's the same way I buy Christmas trees.
Did it after 20+ years. I was nervous a little bit, but now sound is great. Yamaha F310-P is tuned again. Thanks.
Thank you, kind sir! Re-strung my guitar for the first time on my own with the help of your tips! Love your enthusiasm! Keep up the good work.

thank you I have been playing over 40 years and have always done it another way, evidently not the best way... but has always worked for me. I wrap the new strings around the tuner posts about 2 or 3 times then stick the string through the hole and bend/crimp it backwards then hold the end with needle nose pliers as I tighten them and tune it up. I think I like your ways better. thanks again learned something new today will try this out tonight. peace
try "elixir" strings. haven't changed mine since 1952.
Woah
😦
Lol, I went to the guitar shop and the guy recommended me Elixir strings because I change my strings so rarely.
Yep, can vouch for Elixer strings too. They last really well, and easily keep their tone for twice as long as other brands I've tried. I personally wouldn't bother trying any other strings on my acoustics, I reckon they sound fantastic.
But elixir strings were founded in the 90s
As a special ed. teacher who HAS to give step by step directions directions, I can say YOU are very good! This was great. Thanks.
5:40 close ur eyes and listen.
Samuel Ze Noob take it back out and try again
Grow up.
It can get a little bit sticky but don’t be nervous
Never had anyone explain the reasoning behind cutting the strings
@@dontall71 good enough for some of my old clunkers or wall hangers. I change every few years, sometimes !
Fantastic....Thank you so much...You've made my granddaughter very happy with you great instructions....
Hell ya! I'ma go pollinate some flowers now...
Thanks for going above and beyond and creating the clearest video with insight to how frustrating we can feel doing something new.
I haven’t changed my strings in 7 years. He says every two weeks. Maybe that’s why I’m so bad at guitar
My mom bought me my guitar when I was 15! I'm 24 now and finally changed the strings out hahaha!! I really started learning this January and when I change strings it sounded so beautiful.
Man. I hate when i get stabbed during the Tonal Transformation© phase

Instructions unclear: my guitar is a bass now
Slap it NOW

Finally found the video i wanted. The others just showing us stringing the low E.. I needed the high E also so there's no mistake. Thankyou!
I'm curious about one of the steps...why bother with cutting them at the sound hole? Why not just detune, pull the pins, and remove the strings?
Because it's fun to do man
Procras10eighter 1992 he said its fun. so do what ever make you feel fun, and that's easy and quicker anyways.
He probably does that because he seems pretty OCD, not just changing strings all the time, but making sure there are no old strings laying around. I couldn't count all the shows I've been able to finish because I kept a couple sets of old strings, just in case.
Cutting the strings creates more pieces of sharp, metal trash to throw away so for me, it's easier to leave them whole and forgo the cutting step.
I never cut the strings unless somebody has tied them into unyielding knots. It's much easier to coil them up if you leave them whole.
Thank you so much! Because of you I just changed my own strings for the first time and I’m so happy!
I always had to keep the cat out of the room whenever I did this. All the loose strings waving around drove him insane.
The Paranoid Blues Man I feel yeah pain cause it's like a fucking mad house when I change strings my cats go crazy
Is it time to get a dog? 'Curly' sits patiently at my feet during a restring.
currently my situation lol , i’ve got three cats bugging me
One of the best RUclips tutorials on re stinging. Thanks!
“Grab your string winder tool”...looks at right hand, “check”
“Grab your wire cutters”...looks at tin snips, “check”
“Grab your tool to pull wire plugs”...looks at vice grips, “check”
Ya I’m ready to ready to rock and roll baby
Exactly!
Yup all that stuff works but i like my string winder for the peg lifting because it is plastic instead of metal. It also only cost me like 3 bucks
EVERY beginner should watch this! Great stuff! I've been playing for 40 years and still learned stuff!
That other method where u overlap the high string looks kinda difficult, and I'm scared that I might mess up the bending part and ruin the string
wish i would've read the comments before trying. Got the 1st 3 bass on perfectly, then tried his method and broke 2 of the 3 high ones...
Your videos Live On 👍💕
“This is how you do this” proceeds to say nothing and shows the footage at 10x speed
A great tutorial for more than just changing strings. The small things(using a pencil to lubricate the nut)were very helpful. Thanks.
Surely taking all the strings off at once is not a good idea, especially on old martins! Two at a time seems safe right?
Why? It's a lump of wood. It will not care.
+David Johnston a little more respect for the guitar
I'm sure Tony knows what he's doing.
It makes it a lot easier to clean the fretboard if all the strings are off.
People need to get undressed to clean our frets too!!!!
Back in '73 I bought a 1942 Martin that looked just like that from a Bluegrass music store outside of Ft. Worth. Had to leave the guitar for rent money a few years later, but it was the best guitar I ever had (or played). Glad to see one again.
decided to take up guitar at 53... new strings, glass of whisky, record player on soothing judas priest and you video watched. on my way!
This is great advice/teaching.
Well spoken, clear, easy to follow.
Been poked/stabbed.
Good job!
I have changed strings with the intention to clean, then get distracted and next thing you know the strings are back on....Doh!....guess I will clean next time.
hahaha of course i clean my guitar regularly. *laughs nervously*
thak you very much..VERY much for not doing that twirly thing people do when stringing on the post.. makes the string hard to
remover if you're playing live and the tech has to do it fast.. you rock.. thanks
Ooof, I haven’t changed my strings in 3 years!!
I'll get those 00000000s down sometime ! !
Thanks!! Don't have a mahogany top yet.. but someday.. when my playing is worthy!
I have a D15m and use both the Retro's and the D'Addario N&B's (12's or 13's). You cannot go wrong with either. Beautiful sound.
I am dying for a D15.. but can't justify the expense quite yet... not been playing long enough.. but someday. Thanks for the info... hope it comes in handy in the future!
Changed to some lighter strings with your method. It sounds so beautiful and warm now. thank you!
6 months for my small budget and leave the old string package in the case so you know what is on the guitar.
Thank you! I have just picked up a guitar after a 35 year break, and what I have forgotten waaayyyy surpasses what I remember.
7:33 for personal future reference
by far the best method I've ever sen for re-stringing! thank you
i just got stabbed
Alvin D like mrs kerbople says ha
I hope you're not in Chicago. They'll never catch the perp! Too much snitchin'.
Keep it up glad to have you back on the youtubes.
the thing on his finger is a guitar tool like a pick.
PikaPikachu2 I hope that's sarcasm. If it was, it could've been better. Especially given that it's his left hand. A guitar slide would've been more believable. Now I'm curious on how that thing would perform if used as a guitar slide.
Thank you! First time changing strings by myself was a success thanks to you.
First of all yes that's a good way. Thanks for that.
But change them every 2 weeks dude i change them like once in a year or 2 years
I change them when I can afford it and when they just sound dull and the round wounds are flat across the frets - that is the time to change them!!
Sweet, I used this guide to change strings on my guitar for the first time. Worked well! I've had my guitar for more than one year now and there was a huge difference in sound (for the better), used the same type of strings (fenders own brand).
Tuned for over 30 years and FINALLY through this video realized ---there's a string pin remover on the string winder !!!!
Me too!
To be fair the string cutter is just a pair of wire clippers
Actually--I'm referring to the notch on the tool that removes the pin.
Thanks! I just changed the strings on my Larrivee and put Martins on. They fought with each other for a while but both eventually came around. I use your video every time I change strings.
I’ve been changing strings for 55 years... this is the first time I’m feeling a little nervous.
This is the best string changing tutorial all the others lead me down a dark path of Breaking many strings and funky looking headstocks
And a lot of frustration but not with this guy his path leads to a Beautiful tonel transformation
Here’s a tip no one asked for: Always wash your hands before playing guitar and wipe them down with a clean cloth after every playing session. That way they last about three months and the sound gets better before it gets worse around the three month mark. 👌🏻
The best tutorial I've seen on changing strings. Thanks!
