I don't think DB and Owen get enough credit, they were great together One of the top 2 or 3 tag teams of their generation Individually, both were top notch as well
The British bulldogs were champs during the golden and far more iconic than any tag team Owen had been part of during the new gen era.

As a singles Davey Boy should've been WWF Champion. Him and Dynamite were the hybrid tag team of power and speed. My favorite tag team in the 80's.
The only time I could see Davey Boy as WWF Champion would have been after Wemby when Bret carried him through that match, which skyrocketed his popularity. Still, the one thing that always stopped him was his out-of-control drug use or being so unreliable that no one wanted to risk putting the belt on him for fear he could pawn it for a quick buck of drug money or lose it somewhere.
It makes a really good what-if, but sadly, Davey himself was his own worst enemy, who slammed many doors in his face.
@@EE-md2lr That match was so popular because it was in the UK when Brit fans were nuts about the WWE, Smith was very popular among British wrestling fans.
The way HBK changed the finish was fucked up!
Davey could do it all in the ring. Has there even been anyone like him? Could work strong, carny, big power moves, all the acrobatic stuff and the body. Maybe my favourite guy to watch inside the ropes.

Davey wasnt a ring general but with the right guy he could absolutley have a 4 star match.
Granted, I was just a kid at that time, I think I was barely entering my teenage years then, I just didn't understand what they were doing with Davey Boy Smith. In particular, with him winning the IC title from Brett Hart at Wembley Stadium. Of course, I got the fact that he has to go over in England, but with all the attention put one that match & the revelation that he's married to Brett's sister, Diana, causing family turmoil. After all this, he has to drop the belt to Shawn Michaels just a short time later. You would think he would have gotten a better run, even just 6 months.

But really I think that is the limit those guys should’ve been given.
Bulldog however had the look that could’ve made him heavyweight champ, but that said his mic skills were appalling and really really hard to get excited about.
He always seems he was reading a script and not reading it well.
I did love him tho and I remember the battle royal at the Albert hall where Texas tornado came to the ring off his face coked up!

Criminally Underrated wrestler, vince wasted his potential
In my opinion, the time he really wasted him, was in 1999 when he came back. Davey Boy Smith was such a great star but, nonetheless, he should have been the WWF champion. However, I did not like him as a heel, it didn't fit his personality.
It was even worse for Davey Boy because he was supposed to go back with Owen and make a tag team.
All true what JC says, but kets be honest his accent in and his oromis were lacking and mmm uncharismatic and or not understandable esp the later in his career as his physical deteriorated.
