EN: This is the part two of the pre-pandemic video we done for Landrover Defender versus Dacia Duster, one of the TOP offroaders versus one of the low end ones. This video is also a driver tribute to one of our departed friends who died of COVID last year, safe roads in the sky dear friend! This time the Duster clearly wins the second round as it is far more nimble. Evidently the Landrover is the better car overall, but not on all terrains, do remember that the Duster has a Nissan X-Trail cloned transmission and the engine in the video is remapped to 130hp. RO: Aceasta este partea a doua a videoclipului pre-pandemic pe care l-am realizat pentru Landrover Defender versus Dacia Duster, unul dintre cei mai buni offroaderi versus unul dintre cei mai ieftini. Acest videoclip este de asemenea, un omagiu soferului Landroverului, dl. doctor Chemal Taner plecat dintre noi anul trecut din cauza COVID, nu te vom uita! Ca si concluzie, de această dată, Dusterul câștigă clar a doua rundă, deoarece este cu mult mai agil. Evident, Landrover este cea mai bună mașină per ansamblu, dar nu pe toate terenurile. I do a lot of overlanding in Southern Africa.
Lighter vehicles have benefits in some tricky situations like mud and sand. (not always) I have no experience with snow though!
The Defender had to "build a road" for the Duster, by clearing some ice. If the Duster had to do the uphill climb first, they would not get very far uphill. So it is not really fair comparison. I've seen a Duster really struggle in Mozambique in deep sand with a high mid section (under diff), while larger 4x4's with low range just walked over it.
All 4x4's have trade offs and you have to decide which one is best for your application
The Duster is really a capable little thing, but I think that one should use it as what it is meant for.

Sorry but these comparison is unfair...the defender has mud terrain tyres and the duster road,all season or something like that tyres....
See the part one, winter tires remolded. There you will see that the MTs have an advantage.
Actually even with the same tire model the sizes will be different, so it is not a must to have the same tires.
how does the duster stand up to the abuse any issues or defects ?
None, its a very light car with a cloned suspension from Xtrail and a dependable engine... only rubber bushings get old.
