    Installing a *custom 3.1 windows rom* on an *apple 2* sure is a one way to use void magic.

    both the nokia and the pager have stuff writen on them. the nokia says "start", with the numbers pad using the standard orokin numbers. the computer has a full keyboard in the 1999 stylization of the orokin lanaguage which can be used as a cipher key to figure out which symbol is which standard orokin symbol we already know. the pager says "december 31 1999 operator" and i couldnt read the symbols well enough to translate the last word but i would assume it was probably gargoyles cry or something along those lines

    I find it hilarious that even with all that fancy orokin tech Albrecht decided to have all his shit run on windows 95

    The Apple II is a 22 years old by 1999 to boot.

      The Nokia 3310 also wasn't made in 1999, didn't stop them from implementing it nonetheless.

      True, did not.motixe that. Tough a phone from a few month in the future feels less weird than a 22 year old computer.

    • @tehaisbagus

      I think generally DE just wanted the look and feel rather than a hard guideline, anyways the computer in-game is called the Pom-2, and pom just sounds like pome which is the family apples are from.

      @Just4Games2011 6 месяцев назад

      @@tehaisbagus Yea, probably more about the feel of it.
      Also, just remembered my language has "Pom" too, it means "Tree".

      Sometimes I want to do the same but then other times they're just prohibitively expensive like that Walkman.

    • @reddgambit2216
      @reddgambit2216 6 месяцев назад

      @tehaisbagus yeah can relate, i collect casstte tapes and tape players (i got really into the james gunn guardians movies and thats kinda where my addiction started 😅), decks and walkmans mainly. Sometimes its pretty generously prices, face book market and ebay are good places to look in my experience but still some peices, especially significant brands like Sony cost soooooo much, in the end i had to settle for a Sanyo walkman as the first one i properly bought, cost me 80 British pounds. Technically its a rip off brand but its near enough a one to one and the quality of it is really good. Honestly thats the best advice i can give for casstte media, settle for obscure brands, just cuz they aint big names dosent mean their necessarily crap, everyone back then was trying to capitalise and as a result most models tend to be serviceable.

    Now I'm not a computer guy but I think the PC looks more like an IBM computer instead of an Apple computer. The keyboard on the Apple computer is attached to rest of the computer while IBM computers have the keyboard seperated similar to Albrecht's PC. My guess is that it's supposed to be a model XT 5160 with a G74 monitor since both combined vaguely resemble his PC, especially more than the Apple 2 computer if I may add. Maybe they changed the design of Albrecht's PC a bit to avoid some sort of copyright issue but I think thats about right.

    • @tehaisbagus
      @tehaisbagus  6 месяцев назад

      I just based it off how the in-game name for it is the Pom-2, which just translates to apple.

    the motorcycle is most likely a MV Agusta F3, because of the iconic undertail exhaust. these exhaust are pretty much extinct.

    I still have the pack of floppy’s that win3.1 came on (I can’t remember if it was 6 or 8 floppy’s?)
    And I still have my old Nokia somewhere, the funny’s thing about how almost indestructible them things are is when i was working at a theme park ied ask a guest if I could borrow their phone then ied start juggling with it the look of horror on their face was priceless.

    This is NOT an Apple II. The Apple II line were 8 bit computers on the late 80’s built with integral keyboards and 5.25” floppy drives and by the early 90’s were long since obsolete.
    You’ll note his computer is a generic box desktop case, external keyboard, 5.25” floppy drive, two 3.5” floppy drives and a CDRom drive. Not only are these more devices than an Apple II could conceivably operate, the CDrom is anachronistic for the era!
    I realise you may not even have been alive when the hardware still existed but there is no reason not to do a cursory google search and spend 30 seconds reading a Wikipedia page for context.

      To me it resembles more a Radioshack Tandy 1000, but again with more peripherals than most home computers at the time would be able to use. My guess is that Digital Extremes obviously couldn't use an actual computer model without potentially risking copyright, so they decided to make their own model cobbled together. It isn't unreasonable for the hyper-advanced cross-dimensional near-interstellar superhumans of the future to adapt an Apple-II or Tandy 1000 to have more peripherals, but honestly I think the real reason they did it is because only real computer geeks would ever notice, and they needed to be sufficiently different from any product that did actually exist.
