If you are looking for a beginner friendly camera, this might be your sign to get the eos r50. The lens is okay. I don't see any reason to get a prime lens or other zoom lenses for the time being. If you have trouble with the screen get an external monitor for it. It’s a bigger screen and can be mounted above the camera for you
