Seeing this really makes me mourn for an era that is by far classier than what we see today. The direction this world is going is absolutely disgusting. There was no such thing as cancel culture as everybody respected each other, no matter what. The junk being pushed today to further agendas that honestly make no sense serves as a classic tale of how far from grace society can fall when the ludicrous takes everything out of context and uses it as a means to play the victim when in reality it is they that are the bullies.

Sure, that’s how you remember it. But I remember taking a car trip to Florida from my home in the North and I was stunned to see separate facilities for African Americans such as separate water fountains, restaurants, rest rooms, schools, hotels and all kinds of ways people were denied equal rights. It was an America I had never seen before as a ten year old child.
Did life seem better then. In the time you’re referring to, America was one/sixth of the world’s population but lived on two thirds of the world’s resources. That was never going to last forever.

She said we knew she was very pretty from TV but TV didn't do her justice. In person she was stunning perfection and yet seemed unaware of it. Bc they had come so far Dick interviewed them ( on the air) and they were on cloud 9. They also got Annette's autograph and said she was so genuinely nice. I'm sure I seen that interview's on You Tube somewhere. You can bet she did smoke, without DOUBT! @@davidwesley2525 Amen. Furthermore, as you already know, GOD carried the biggest cross..."wounded four OUR iniquities...by HIS stripes WE are healed" Annette was a 'victim-soul' she was called by God to carry an immense cross, for a loooong time..she did, with great grace and courage...she did GREAT good, for her own soul, for others as well...her most endearing attribute was this Her good will be known only to God but revealed to us in the next world. She was a Christian...a 'Christ-bearer', which means sharing in HIS cross for redemption.

The audience are wearing "IFIC' buttons. The sponsor was Beech-nut gum and their ads said that "Beech-nut" was flavorific!" The Saturday night show with Dick Clark was one not to be missed. Artists lipsynced their songs.
It is nice to remember Annette as the pretty young woman she was. Her death via MS was terrible - she really suffered. There is an interview done with her husband a year before she died- and poor Annette is shown in it. If you are a fan of Annette"s I suggest you skip it. It is hard to watch.
    RIP Annette

While she was not confident in her ability as a singer, she still proved Walt Disney's intuition right that she could have a singing career...all without auto-tune, hehe. Her voice is not perfect, no, but it is clear, sweet, on-pitch, and more importantly..her voice, the way it needed to be heard.

I loved seeing Annette Funicello on the original Mickey Mouse Club. She truly was America's Sweetheart. Followed her MS diagnosis as my sister also had that disease. Both of them handling their illness with grace. Drove past her hometown on the day that she died, returning from a trip. She set the bar for all of us on what beauty is inside and out.

im 18 I think shes cute, I love 50s-00s songs well early 2000s, she looks better in video than in pics awwww I would have dated her!!!! if I lived in tht era I got a grandmother thts 87, world war 2 grandfather, at tht time they were in their 30s yup my gen only has grandparents tht were born between late 1920s-early 1940s, very rare tho for grandparents born in the 1950s and 1960s....oh well at least our reletives aren't distant from tht era cuz it wasn't long ago....

Amazing as a youngster. watching American Bandstand. I never for a mini-second thought that they were lip-syncing to the actual song, not live. Of course I was ten years old, but maybe some people didn't realize it either.

I did and preferred it that way.
A Studio Recorded Song can not be Duplicated Live.
We wanted to hear the songs as they sounded on The Radio or The Records we bought.
      It would sound different Live.
