  • Hello, friends!
In my previous video, I shared with you the process of creating a Hoverbike that was supposed to lift off the ground by a few meters and hover in the air. Unfortunately, we didn't achieve that goal at the time.
Many of you wrote to me suggesting that I should modify it by adding electric drone motors for stabilization, and others mentioned that the propellers should be repositioned higher than the center of mass. Well, I decided to take your advice and have now revamped the Hoverbike, with the propellers now positioned significantly above the center of mass.
What do you think of this version?
Please share your thoughts in the comments, and don't forget to share this video.
For those who are seeing this video for the first time: this project is about transforming an ordinary motorcycle into a Hoverbike, aiming to merge the thrill of motorcycling with the cutting-edge realm of aviation. Join me on this journey of innovation, where we explore the challenges and triumphs of making a bike fly. Let's dive into the details of the modifications and see this Hoverbike take to the skies!

Calculate the right attack angle for each blade to help create the correct lift for the propeller.
In the image we can see that each blade seems to have too much turned angle...maybe set them more horizontal !

Install a ring around each propeller so it would control the airflow up and down. Right now the air is going out to the sides. You can see it in the video how the propellers are blowing everything to the sides. With a tube around each propeller you would control the airflow coming from above the bike straight down so it would give you lift at much lower rpm.

but stiil been so heavy, the propellers may not be the right ones and it needs a lot simplicity with a plus carbon fiber elements. I sugest calculate this machine for better results.

That’s the least of the problems. A quad copters propels spin at different rates to keep a level.. of the skirts more than a few feet off the ground that’s going to flip. This is a huge waste of time. Pointless. The Dude must know this and is only doing it for RUclips viewers. But there will be enough dumb people to believe at all Work and will watch it unironically

@@Gordon-Scott Carbon fiber would be ideal but keeping with his metal working background make it out of 1.2 mm aluminum with ribs from same aluminum to give it some strength. By using a motorcycle the hole thing is shot but it is something to keep viewers engaged. Need a much smaller gas tank, much smaller seat and remove everything of off that machine that he can. But like I said I don't think this is truly meant to fly high.

your YZF R1 has plenty of engine power. What you need to make your drone take off is either bigger propeller blades or a higher ratio in the gearbox. The engine will take longer to get the propellers up to speed, but in return you will get much more lifting power and at the same time you will get much more control over the drone.
    It’s all about love… 😍
Keep up the good work… 👍

🔴 Islam is not just another religion.
🔵 It is the same message preached by Moses, Jesus and Abraham.
🔴 Islam literally means ‘submission to God’ and it teaches us to have a direct relationship with God.
🔵 It reminds us that since God created us, no one should be worshipped except God alone.
🔴 It also teaches that God is nothing like a human being or like anything that we can imagine.
🌍 The concept of God is summarized in the Quran as:
📖 { “Say, He is God, the One. God, the Absolute. He does not give birth, nor was He born, and there is nothing like Him.”} (Quran 112:1-4) 📚

I think you should try with tilted propeller shaft of which force will be pointing to center of the motorbike , such that you can use a bigger size propeller( perfectly engineered like aircraft), make the top cage like circular/arch and reducing atleast 70 kg weight.
use single shaft from engine to the center of 4 propeller and then distribute with four shaft on top of your head, that's how you may reduce weight excluding the base structure. Cut all the excessive parts you don't need.
And see how it flies with minimal power of the motorbike. 🎉❤

I agree, you are a very skilled fabricator and engineer. It won't fly because its too heavy. To produce enough force, you would have to have propellers at least 2.5 times the mass of the rig. Even then, you'd only get a few feet off the ground. If you had materials just as strong but at a quarter of the weight could work too. Whether it flies or not, we will all be cheering you on!

Lessen weight of unnecessary items of bike, larger engine, larger blades. Far far too complicated to try to do adjustable blades for collective. It would be possible to add extra vanes to act as a cyclic control, but leaning in a craft that small will accomplish that. As far as ground effect, when you lift off, you lose ground affect as you ascend. A helicopter does not have the propeller near the ground. They depend on much larger airfoils/vanes and engine HP / speed.
You have to increase lift from propellers and lose weight. You were 360kilos on bike engine/frame before installation. Now maybe double that 700+ kilo. 1,500-1,600 pounds will take much large air movement to lift the craft that with everything added was pushing 900 kilo. 2000 pounds (USA) =909 kilograms.

I don't understand why no motorcycle 🏍 or moped 🛵 company has built a trike moped similar to yours (in your previous videos) with a recumbent seating position & lightweight aerodynamic removable weather enclosure. So the 🛵 could be used all year in rain, cold and light snow. Just like a car but get 75+ mpgs using a 300 to 500cc scooter engine & cvt drive train. So it could go 80 to 85mph capable of traveling on USA 55mph hwy & 75- 85mph interstate systems. The aerodynamic enclosure and recumbent seating would make it about 35+% more efficient. Than the upright riding position of a motorcycle where your body is creating major wind drag.

Отличная идея! Ховербайк явно нужно немного облегчить, такое ощущение, что не хватает совсем немного. И главное - предлагаю поменять передаточное соотношение - поменять звёзды, и, таким образом, поднять обороты на винтах еще сильнее.
Great idea! The hoverbike clearly needs to be lightened a little, it feels like it's missing quite a bit. And most importantly, I suggest changing the gear ratio - changing the stars and thus raising the rpm on the screws even more.

Something to consider, although it may have minimal effect here, is the force pushing the assembly down from the airflow moving against the upper grill, your body, the motorcycle, and the drive covers below the bike. If you could reduce this in some manner, it may help. I'm sure having the upper grill between you and the blades is great protection, though. Most drones have the blades in free air with minimal frame material in the air flow. You've probably thought of this already. Really appreciate your effort and craftsmanship.

Huge fan since you started. I’m a retired mechanical engineer in Kentucky USA. I wondered from the beginning of this build why you didn’t apply twist dynamics on your propellers. They, and I’m a novice in aeronautical engineering, but it’s my understanding that they create more force because the hub spins faster than the outer of each propeller. Ie. more twist, more force., also more stability. Good luck my friend

I hesitate to make any comments sitting in a chair and having never built anything as beautiful, brilliant and complex as you have. I have read that power required goes like the cube of the prop tangential velocity, so two big and slower turning contra-rotating propellers might get you more lift for less power. Best of luck.

A helicopter pilot friend of mine was trying to build a similar vehicle 15 years ago. This design was a mixture of a jet plane and a motorcycle. We made a "mockup" together and he went to a fair in Dubai with the mock-up to find sponsors. But he couldn't find anyone to give 1 million dollars. :D His hoverbike design was just like yours, but his had a small helicopter engine under his seat. Instead of propellers, there were 4 fan outlets, just like on Harrier planes... But when he could not find a sponsor, he wanted to use this "mock-up" in a different way. He built a huge robotic arm powered by hydraulic pistons and mounted that "mockup" on the end of the robotic arm. He also sold this new toy to an amusement park :D
(I will leave the Google drive link of the photos of the design under this comment , I hope the link appears.)

    For this to work:
    1) slightly larger props or double props (ex: upper AND lower).
    2) reduce weight.
    3) double steering control fins.
Maybe for the next test flight, implement RC controls for throttle and steering. Sure way to reduce weight and increase safety margin.

If you watch carefully center of gravity moved forward (back of the machine want to lift more that front).

You're right about the weight, and reducing it down to two rotors is the right idea, but co-axial rotors is very complicated and you'll lose more power to mechanical inefficiencies. What you need is a something like a Chinook helicopter, fore and aft rotors, counter-rotating to counter out torque, and staggered, (aft slightly higher than fore) so the blades can actually over-lap each other. That, and drastically reducing the weight !

Great video, always enjoy your content.
Definitely need a stronger motor, OR to replace some of that steel with aluminium.
Double (2 layer) rotors might work since they can grab more air as they spin.
Another option would be to extend the platform to the front and back, then change where the rotors are positioned (1 pair further to the front, and 1 pair further to the back.) Then put a third set of rotors in line with the middle of the bike.

Changing the design to a ducted fan system will help a lot, now I'm no engineer, but those blades look a bit heavy as well, I know they're expensive, but fan blades designs and materials can make a really big difference.

I believe that you need bigger propellers and that maybe you should change gears so that the bike is not revving so much.
I would love to see this project literally get off the ground.
So good luck and I am waiting with bated breath for the next video.

Hell yah man, ive been dreaming of doing this for years, let me live vicariously through you! 😂
I have to let you know, it doesnt actually change anything to change where the props are. I think they called it the rocket pendulum effect, or something along those lines... Its like moving the battery location on a rc quadcopter, makes no (or nearly no) functional difference.
Its gonna need you to increase the speed of the rotors, or the number of props... Id suggest simply adding a second rotor set below on the same axle, that way you nearly double the thrust (and of course the amount of torque needed, but i dont think youre anywhere near maxing out that engine.) For a quadcopter to fly comfortably you need minimum 2-3 times the weight in thrust, more is better, but you also need very high levels of torque for spinup/spindown to control angle which there are a few ways to achieve . Youll get it man, i believe in you
    😊

Bigger diameter and lower RPM props (with smaller attack angle) - are more efficient in terms of power/thrust ratio. Big two-blade rotors are more efficient than 4-blade rotors. But they have bigger diameter. 3-blade rotors more efficient than 4-blade rotors ets.

You are really close and I agree you need to drop some mass to fly. If you have access to four load cells then use them in a full power runs to see what the apparent load is at full throttle. That should give you your mass reduction goal, I'd say about 10kg should do it. Try a run with minimum fuel and a muffler deletion.
